  1. I don't get caught up with all the four feeding periods. But I do beleave in the full moon, new moon periods. The cresent moon is a great time to be out at night also.
  2. My records that I kept were of both night and daylight fishing. I do fish tournaments and I think most tournament anglers are fishing for a fast limit and then, try to get there kicker fish. Night bassin has it's pro's and con's just as daylight has them too. You made some good points, it is darn hard to fish lakes around here on weekends, let alone tournaments! That's why I guide at night and the people that hire me go home happy and that what it's all about. I hope yopu have a great year.
  3. I ordered some of these Flat Top Jigs and I they arrived today. They are made by Buckeye Lures who make the Spot remover, they look like nice jigs! Has anyone seen them or fish them yet?
  4. I would have to disagree with some of what you have said! Catt, I am NOT trying to put you down or what you have said. I do disagree with a few things that you said! I guide at night and I have done so for along time. I used to keep logs of all my trips day or night, and I would record time of year, wind, water temp. air temp.,how clear the water was, where I caught the bass, how deep and so on! On your first statement I agree with you to a point= bass don't only feed at night, dawn or dusk but, they feed more and and they will feed longer periods at night. They are now more in tune to the feed because the lake's not getting pounded with boats! But the trophy bass don't start to feed untill midnight to sunup on the lakes that I fish! The trophy bass suspend over deep water or weed lines, points, sunkin islands, humps ect.!( And all lakes are different )!And it takes them some time to move onto there feeding area's, thats why the good bit starts about midnight because it takes them that long to move up. I fish deep water at night and DON"T fish any shallower that ten feet, and as deep as 30 ft.. Can people catch trophy bass during the day, yes but not on regular basis compared to late night. The second statement about the dark covers the anglers presence and his mistakes, not true! If anything they are more aware of what is giong on around them, noise, lights are more of a turn off at night than during the daylight. And as for my logs, TROPHY bass feed at night more than during the day. If what you are saying then, during daylight tournaments there should more trophy bass being caught! Lets take last year for my night guide trips, from late May to late Sept. I had 14 guide trips and from midnight to sunup did not have a bass under 3 lbs. and the two big girls were a 7 lb. 4 oz. and two weeks later a 7lb. 0 oz.and many over 5 and 6 lb'ers but there is a reson for this and that is DEEP WATER. I catch bass some, under 3 lb. when I want to pound docks and banks waiting for the trophy's to move on there feeding area's. The two 7 lbers. were caught at 2 10 am and the other about 3 am.! I think that that there strike zone is much bigger at night ! And bass that are deep are less affected by a front that the shalloer bass. Now I am not picking on you and don't take it personal. This is just my info and I am sure that I will get alot of bad feed back for what I have said, and that's ok! This works for me and maybe I should have just not said anything! Again ,Catt I did not mean any harm towards you! Dan
  5. Another great bait for a C-rig is a floating tube or a floating worm! And evan small crankbaits!
  6. I would have to disagree with some of what you have said!
  7. I think I will do that to be on the safe side! The lakes that I fish are very clear to a little greenish color but, nothing that is very dingy!
  8. This year I am going to go down to 6 lb.fluro. Last year I was fishing 8 lb. and I had a good year with 8lb. on the drop shot. But a good freind of mine who guides out west told me to go to 6 lb.! He says I will get bit alot more with the lighter line. I am alittle worried about this 6 lb. line. So I thought I would see what you guys say? :
  9. I went to Gander today to get some trilene 100 % fluor. in 6 lb. for my drop shot rods and they were sold out :'(. So now do I want to wait and hit another store or, for them to restock it! I am the kind of person that when I want something I want it now, so here I am standing and looking for another way to fix this problem! I started looking for a second choice and I found the Seaguar Carbon Pro fluor., now my question is! Is the Seaguar as good as the trilene or should I have waited?
  10. I guide at night up here in Wisconsin, I had two 7 lb'ers last summer. The best times to be on a lake are Midnight to sunup. I have kept logs for about ten years and I found out some real cool things that made my catch rate and size go out of sight!
  11. I did some seminars at BPS in Chicago during the Classic. And I showed the people how the line was before I sprayed it with the KVD, then I would spray the KVD on a few spools. At the end of the seminar I showed them how much better the line was after I did the spray and what a BIG inprovement! I sold BPS out of the KVD L & L cond.
  12. I like the red craw and chrome black back.
  13. I was thinking of getting some 4 in. lizards for a drop shot. The Gander buy me has watermelon seed and chart.pepper only. Other than using them on a drop shot I not sure I want to fish these little lizards on something else! What do ya think?
  14. You may want a short rod for skippin, like a 5'6" or a 6 ' rod. It is better than long rods for more control. But it does depend on how tall you are too.
  15. Chompers football jig.
  16. I have never seen this show. Are there any clips that I can watch of him? Or maybe U tube?
  17. sorry I think they are done!
  18. not to say you are wrong but i used KVD as i lined new line on my spin rods and yes the coiling is still there and it did not go away after a few casts. i fished for a few hours with the same rods and the line actually feels stiffer than fresh out of the spool. just something i have noticed and the line i use is a copolymer. i will try different ways with KVD but over all i am not impressed so far. this could change. btw the coils never relaxed. OK, now spray your line on the spools with the KVD and let it dry. And then you will see a big change for the better!
  19. On these soft swim baits or paddle tail swimbaits, what kind of line are you fishing them on? Mono or fluro.? :-?
  20. The heads on these Goby Baits are very thick, do you have problems on hook sets?
  21. First does anyone fish these Goby baits? Or are they just another plastic bait? I would like to try them this year,so how do you guys rig them? I did order some of the Buckeye Goby Sleds jig, looks like a cool jig.But I just would like to know if there are any other ways to fish them?
  22. I guide and fish alot of tournaments and I would not be without the KVD line cond. in my boat! It does make line much better and it will cast much further when you treat your line the night before, and the bottle goes along way. I have 22 rods in my boat and I maybe go through two bottles a season. What can I say just great stuff!
  23. Then you just need to add the KVD line cond. and spray your spools the night before and that will help the "tough to manage part! The KVD line cond. is worth every penny! Going to vent here but I dont want you to take it personal, Eyedabassman. This isnt directed at you, just the comment in general. It seems like every time a cheap line is suggested it's followed up with "use line conditioner". Crappy line - use line conditioner. Not just this site. Absolutely every forum I've been to where line is discussed. I want a line that is manageable out of the box!! I dont want to have to buy another product, worry about the mess and spraying it on every reel every time I go out. Not to mention it getting all over inside my reels. No thanks, I'll buy good quality line out of the box and save myself the hastle. Rant over. Again no offense to you Eyedabassman. Please dont take any. To answer the question, this line is cheap. Manageability is definately an issue. It is not very abrasion resistant either. Also, I respool often. Not everyone on here can afford to do that. I use line that I respool often because I want to, not because I'm afraid of what will happen if I dont. B No problem bud, I understand where you are coming from.I think what J Francho said was perfect. There are so many good lines out there that you could use wright from the spool and be happy. All we are saying is that the KVD cond. makes them all much better. And what I am about to say may open a can of worms but if it were me, I would fish the Gamma, or the Sufix lines if didn't want to treat the line with KVD.
  24. Gamma is very good line, I have been fishing it for about 3 years now! I don't like there fluo. at all and the fluo. was $$$$$ 27$ a spool give me a break, I would bet they didn't sell many. But the Gamma Copolymer line is a geat line!
  25. Black Jitterbug,Spook,Pop'R thats all I need!
