  1. I think my choices differ alot from others on spinning gear, both my GBlanks rods use an XF tip, I actually throw finesse on a 6.6MXF, on 20 PowerPro braid. I've yet to have any trouble landing a fish on the MXF. My MHXF in 6.8 spinning is for weightless senkos, smaller jigs, some spinnerbaits and also lighter swimbaits and lipless cranks. That rod too is outfitted with 20lb PP braid. I like the XF tips, I find they hook up quick and the fish feels no pressure during the strike. Just my 2cents.
  2. your on the right track by sticking with Daiwa, while I wont trash Shimano or Pflueger, both make great reels and I have and still do use them. The 2500 Tierra is absolutly insane for the price and incredibly smooth and light wieght, at 9.6oz. Its tough as nails. The 2500 Fuego mimics the Tierra in performance, the body is a little smaller and lighter comming in at 8.6oz. My first impression of the Fuego wasnt a good one, but that was purely on reel size and not performance. I expected it to be the same size as my Tierra 2500. But the more I fish it the more I love it. I'd go with a 2500 and not a 2000, I think the 2000 may be a little to small. I do own both of the reels mentioned above and very happy.
  3. glad you like it, I hada feeling you would, l never fished with a GLX, but Im sure for the money they're insane. But its good to know the GBlanks hold thier own against some of the higher end rods. Last year l looked around and priced a few rod builders using a couple different blanks, the Loomis IMX was one and a ST Croix SCv was a second choice, both of these choices were comprable to the Rainshadow RX8 and RX8+. But for some reason to build on the ST.C, and Loomis blanks the prices were $100 more and one builder wanted over that. I could'nt imagine why using those blanks warrented a price tag that much more. In any event Im very happy with my GBlanks, and for the money I'd throw it up against anything in that price range, and some that cost more. Thanks for input Chris W, I think alot of guys should take note on your GBlanks experiance. These rods are truley worth the money, wether you choose the best Rainshadow blank, or one that fits your buget, a custom rod made just for you, is just that.. Made for you!
  4. over 1200 miles for me and a 20 hour ride :-[
  5. They will build your rod, you dont have to send anything upfront....when he emails you and tells you its done he'll invoice you...pay him then.
  6. Chris W, good to know info right there, I know these rods are a cut above the factory sticks that cost more then they do....but how would yu compare her to your GLX? Glad you like it...i knew you would.
  7. Cory, go for it Dude you wont regret it, I'd be surprised if you stop at 1. heres my newer GBlanks 6.8MHXF with my new Fuego 2500
  8. Glad I could help. The RX8+ is about $20 more I believe. But I think that isnt bad at all, if its going to cost you $200 for the 8 then order the 8+, you'll have almost 3weeks to save that extra 20 to 25 bux the better blank will run you. You go the better blank on say a Loomis or St Croix they run you $100 plus in some cases. Call Larry and he can walk you right through it. Mention he came highly recommended by myself(Dave S) and Chris W, also you heard about the rods from here BassResource.com Chris, keep me up to date on how you like her.
  9. I've seen it happen, I fish with a fellow member in here, whom pitches a jig on 65lb PP braid into spots some guys wouldnt think of in FEAR of getting hung up, or perhaps running the risk of damaging thier pretty & expensive rods. And yes, its all done on an E21.
  10. GBlanks, I push these rods alot. They are great rods at great prices, I DO NOT get any royalties from it so Please dont think it. They have a couple on thier eBay store right now or you can call and talk to Larry Mitchell and he'll be more then happy to offer suggestions. Its worth a look. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=GBlanks&_sacat=See-All-Categories
  11. I use to fish that years ago when I lived in Seekonk, did really well too. Theres an older guy at work who claims he hits them there farely well there when he goes...always though about heading back up there fer a few hours....its been so long I cant remeber if can launch my jon boat or not.
  12. Im in! Is my boat to small for Wallum Tin?
  13. Sorry, I can not help with a MH baitcaster, but I can give advice on the 2 spinning rods I had made by GBlanks. 6.6MXF/6.8MHXF Rainshadow RX8+ blanks were used. Both rods are incredibly light weight and very very sensitive, while the extra fast tip provides alot of action they both have plenty of backbone to horse big bass out of deep cover, and there's a few members in here that'll agree to that. The rods load up nicely and there is a smooth transition throughout the cast. The sensitivity factor is amazing, I can feel every subtle lil tap, the blades on my spinnerbaits come to life and practically feel the bass inhale my finesse worm as she wanders the pond bottom. I fish some light weight swimbaits and lipless cranks, and able to detect every wobble. I DO own GLoomis and StCroix, although neither may be thier flagship rods, but never the less $200 dollar plus rods. In a nutshell I love these rods, they way look, feel, fish and everything there is to love about a rod. Will I buy another? You bet I will, my next will be a MHF in casting. Hope this helps. That aint a bad bass for RI waters.
  14. Im not picking on you RW, but I took these recommendations from you awhile back, and wasnt impressed with it. The switch went from Brekley Trilene XT's n XL's. After several trips out I switched to Power Pro Braid, the best use for the Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft I found was either backing for the braid or to hang the wifes birdfeeders. Nothing personal, it just didnt work for me. Spinning gear: PowerPro 15/20 Baitcasters PowerPro 50
  15. my dad did it one time with the same reel, screwed it up so bad, he had to send it back, I guess you really cant say it any better then BurleySweat: " You've learned the first lesson of reel repair. Don't disassemble unless you have the schematic in hand."
  16. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=GBlanks&_sacat=See-All-Categories take a look in here....I own 2 and will be doing another.
  17. stay away from bed liners, after extensive use they will crack and peel, and the water will eventually cause it to bubble up and peel. Fasco Unlimited is the place you want to look into. Here's a link to the build on my 10ftr, not thee best boat on the pond, but it get its done! http://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4875
  18. Ok, Im going to throw out the GBlanks Customs...again! The blanks used are Rainshadow's RX8+, very light and incredibly sensitive. I have 2 in spinning 6.6MXF 6.8MHXF. my next will be a MHF in casting. I love that with a custom you can pick and choose the colors and styles.
  19. we play a similar version of washers, 3 holes, points 1 3 5, and game to 21....can get pretty intense when the beers r flying. ;D
