  1. Hello @kevin159 from Northern California, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  2. Hello @Zodiack from across the Sac in Northern California, welcome Zach to Bass Resource and the Forums! A lot of good water and marinas the hold bass within a 30 minute drive of you. As you know and in furtherance of @WRB’s above post the Delta is a a crawdad fishery. A few years back a stopped a talked with a commercial crawdad fisherman pulling his traps out on the river. Some of his catch was going to the Isleton Crawdad Festival, but the majority was going to Sweden. He showed me a couple couple crawdads, one was “red” that was red and black, the other was a “gray” that was a light gray, light brown and light orange. Again, welcome and good fishing
  3. Trokar would be worth a try
  4. I’m gonna say Spring due to the possibility of catching the biggest bass of the year with Fall being a close second due to sheer numbers as they fatten up for Winter.
  5. My round ball team has won a few Larry O’Brien’s recently with potential to win another or two in the next few years. My baseball team has been run into the ground by the ownership with the blessing of the Commissioner’s Office and leaving for Las Vegas soon. So I gotta say Super Bowl and another Lombardi Trophy!
  6. Hey @CastingClinic, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums! I agree with @casts_by_fly and use it for chucking spinnerbaits. The length of the rod as you describe it in my opinion would be a good close quarters roll casting machine for whatever you decide to use it for.
  7. Never. If I took a day off it was with an approved vacation or comp time card. Fortunately, retirement simplifies when I want to fish.
  8. Very good possibility @The Baron regarding boat traffic, I’ve gone by it a few times before I decided to stop and fish it. At the time, the tide had swung so there was some current and other boats were going by so it may have helped contribute to an ideal situation ?.
  9. I enjoyed the video @A-Jay, nothing like it. As you said in the title “When it’s right- Its right”. But you gotta admit the first smile of the morning, both mentally and on one’s face, is the sound of the ProXS firing up and grumbling to announce “We’re going fishing!”
  10. Let me preface this by saying my first boat was a Caddis U-shape tube, waders and a pair of flippers. If you can afford to outfit a kayak like Greg Blanchard’s or some of the other YouTube kayakers, I say do it. If not @Cody28, if it’s possible work as much OT as you can and put that money away until you can afford the boat that allows you to fish what and however you choose. Good luck with your decision.
  11. When there’s snow and enough skiers and right now there’s both.
  12. Mammoth Mountain has “spring skiing” until mid August. And where’s the sympathy for the folks in Phoenix?
  13. Great stuff! Great story ?
  14. I couldn’t agree more. And speaking for myself, I know if needs be there’d be something for the table that night.
  15. I was running down the channel, which is an opportunity to cool off a bit when it’s 95 and there’s no wind to speak of. Anyway, I went by a mat about 40 yards long that probably doesn’t get fished because everyone just goes by it like I was doing and paying no attention to it. So I said to myself, “Self, you outta’ fish that mat because you probably won’t later. After all, you’re here”. Good thing I stopped. Pulled 8 bass out of that mat out of 10 bites including my biggest of the day, this 3.64 crawdad eating Delta bass.
  16. I’m just happy I got a multiple choice question right ?
  17. Hi-viz (braid) main line has helped with bite detection @Mobasser and sharper the hooks mean I need to use less effort with my hook set. If I miss couple more casts might be in order. If I don’t connect, there’s always tomorrow or the next fishing trip because now I know they’re there. Now the trick knee acting up is another story…
  18. ^ When using braid, this the way^
  19. I just wanted to take the time to wish @WRB a Happy Belated Birthday! Thanks for all the information and expertise you have freely given Bass Resource members and the fishing community over the years. If you’re up here and want to get out on the water, you have a spot on my boat. Happy Birthday and continued good fishing!
  20. Ahhh, the beauty of having another facility located in Georgia ?
  21. Not to mention 50% off TFO rods of various models ?
  22. I don’t think those waters were damned @ol'crickety, but blessed with solid, quality bass and beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing and continued great fishing!
  23. I figured @PhishLI you and others might appreciate this
