Hello. I’ve come to this site and have read some great threads and finally decided to join. I live and fish in or near my hometown of Rio Vista, Ca, in the Ca Delta. I’ve been fishing off and on since I was about 9 or 10. But it was very sporadic, didn’t fish much. My dad prefers catfish and striped bass fishing-I’ve decided it’s not my thing. So now he’s joined me in most of my bass outings. I don’t personally own a boat but go out with a friend of mine a lot. At least once a week. When not with him I’m at one of the marinas (where I’m allowed) fishing. My favorite set up is my dobyns Kaden 7’1” MH (713) rod with 12lb flouro and a tatula sv tw 7 point something speed reel. I Really got serious into bass fishing during Covid..so for the past few years I’ve gained a lot of knowledge but I know I have a ton to learn. One thing I do know is that (currently) my favorite technique is easing a jig into areas and hoping it waiting for that bite. So I guess you could say I have more fun catching bass on jigs, T rigs, worms etc.

Anyhow, glad to be here. Thank you.

hey Neighbor.  I am about to start retrofitting the Real McCoy ferry for the State soon.   so I am nearby.  my jam is kayak fishing.  if I lived on the Delta, I would go that route for sure!!

Hi Darth. ..so that’s why it was closed the other day. Interesting that you’re going to be working on it that’s cool. Been on that thing many times..

I keep an (inflatable) SUP in my vehicle and lately I’ve been checking out some new areas but I want to eventually get a yak. Steamboat slough has been fun to fish lately but I have to cut all the way around Isleton and around the isleton bridge and find my little sandy pathway for SUP.. anyways keep in touch, maybe throw some rattle traps by the ferry ?‍♂️✌️

It takes a lifetime to learn the Delta. Jigs are a good lure of choice because the Delta is a crawdad fishery. FYI craws are barn red color...

Welcome aboard.

Hello @Zodiack from across the Sac in Northern California, welcome Zach to Bass Resource and the Forums!
A lot of good water and marinas the hold bass within a 30 minute drive of you. As you know and in furtherance of @WRB’s above post the Delta is a a crawdad fishery. A few years back a stopped a talked with a commercial crawdad fisherman pulling his traps out on the river. Some of his catch was going to the Isleton Crawdad Festival, but the majority was going to Sweden. He showed me a couple couple crawdads, one was “red” that was red and black, the other was a “gray” that was a light gray, light brown and light orange.
 Again, welcome and good fishing
