  1. Your wish list for prescription glasses @Big Hands is worth every penny. I didn’t go with the transition lenses but went with blended bifocals for both everyday glasses and sunglasses. I got a pair of Costa sunglasses* with the same prescription after some mental arm wrestling and even though they were pretty expensive they were definitely worth it. *beats the hell out of taking off my regular polarized sunglasses, fishing out my prescription glasses or readers from the boats glovebox to retie or check those annoying phone messages.
  2. Sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend and my condolences to you and his family in this difficult time and circumstances.
  3. Congratulations on your decision @whitwolf, enjoy the retirement you’ve earned.
  4. Good news for the Lions and I hope Goff and management can get his situation sorted out as well.
  5. Absolutely a possibility. Kinda like one missed block on the 6th play of the game changed last year’s NFC Championship outcome. Still, the Niners scored 27 unanswered points against a very good Detroit defense that stymied them in the first half. In the AFC Championship game, Baltimore’s defense held Mahomes and KC’s O to 17 points, but KC’s D made the big plays when they needed them and pretty much shutout MPV candidate Lamar Jackson and Baltimore’s offense. It’s gonna be a tough game for the Niners, going up against a legion of Swifties and the Chiefs, but I think Purdy and The Faithful are up to the challenge.
  6. Changed within the hour @gimruis to Niners -1. Not sure what it is currently. I’m definitely looking forward to this game and some Niner redemption, however less than 10 players from both Super Bowl LIV teams. In that game the Niners played championship football for 53 minutes, celebrated an interception in “flash mob” style in the end zone as the Chiefs looked on and took notice. We all know what happened a few minutes later after the conclusion of 60 minutes of football. @DaubsNU1 and @throttleplate, thanks for the memories. Mine go back to when I was a kid and my team was in SB III, Joe Kapp, “The Purple Gang” with Alan Page, Jim Marshall, Carl Ellen, Wally Hilgenberg, Paul Krause losing to Hank Stram with Len Dawson throwing to Otis Taylor and Mike Garrett running through them. Not to mention Stenerud kicking in the unheard of soccer style and not missing his field goals attempts. Nice picture of Chuck trying to get around Jack Youngblood by the way.
  7. Quite possible @TnRiver46, apparently they serve a mean wine and cheese at Levi’s, for others it’s a lot of whine. *nice one handed grab by UT’s Juwan by the way
  8. Niners get another chance to play KC in the Super Bowl and exercise some demons after beating a very good Detroit Lions team. Brock Purdy put the team on his shoulders and willed them to the win. Go Niners!
  9. I’m also in the Spike-it marker camp. I was just trying to save a couple bucks and found I can “reload“ the dye in the markers by placing the felt tip briefly in a bottle of Dip N Glo of the same color.
  10. Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend and fishing buddy @ATA, may he rest in peace.
  11. ^X2 After decades of use my Berkeley line station still is getting the job done for me and was/is a good investment.
  12. Green Bay’s a good team and gave the Niners all they could handle last night. The game was reminiscent of those Farve led Packers playing the 49er playoffs back in the 90’s. Purdy engineering that drive to set up the go ahead TD was what a playoff caliber quarterback does when you’re in a dogfight and need to find a way to win. Houston played Baltimore even into halftime, but then Lamar and the Ravens defense took over. Baltimore is a complete team on both sides of the ball, their kicker is money and whoever wins this afternoon’s game between the Bills and Chiefs will have their hands full in the championship game. Dan Campbell has the Lion’s playing solid football and their fan base energized but you can’t discount Baker Mayfield and the Bucs after the way they handled Philly last weekend. Should be a good game. *With last night’s win, the Niners tied the Packers and Patriots in playoff wins with 37. Go Niners!
  13. He came up big time with multiple crucial catches after Deebo went out. The game wasn’t pretty, but from the Niners perspective it was a Purdy good ending.
  14. I picked up a few things I look forward to employing in the very near future.
  15. 10th time the 49ers and Packers will have met in the playoffs tomorrow evening, definitely looking forward to it. Go Niners!
  16. Junk Fishing 101 - due to my home body of water being the Sacramento/ San Joaquin delta and multiple techniques can be successful during a given day. Goldilocks - this could also be applicable given that being retired allows me to choose when and under what conditions I want to fish especially during summers triple digit heat. As opposed to when I was working and had a day off come hell or high water I was fishing regardless of the conditions.
  17. Regarding the Dallas v Green Bay game, Matt LaFleur had Jordan Love and the Green Bay offense prepared with a game plan that Dallas had no answers for, at least that’s my take. Right now it looks like Goff and the Detroit offense is carving up a porous LA defense. Good to see Honolulu Blue having success at home after a long playoff drought.
  18. @Eric 26, nothing like tech support 👍
  19. Thanks, and I’m in agreement with you. Could be in response to everyone “cutting the cord” or following what some collegiate teams or conferences have done. *By the way I do have both streaming services I used as examples.
  20. I’m gonna say a couple of executives in New York City. Steelers v Bills at 1330 PST, Eagles v Bucs at 1700 PST and the NBA’s MLK Day programming with both leagues vying for commercial sponsorship dollars. As for the Peacock deal, it’s just another test run for pay per view sports television. Amazon televised/streamed Thursday Night Football this season. It’s probably just a matter of time before you will have to pay to watch your local team via a streaming service if it doesn’t exist in some markets already.
  21. Happy New Year’s Eve Bass Resource!
  22. Yep, and that’s up from last year’s $58.58. I get a second rod “validation” which last year was $18.36 so I sorta wonder what that increase will be. But hey, ya got to pay to play and I’m OK with that.
  23. I don’t know @Captain Phil, this advice might work for some but not all. Mrs B and I have been happily married for over 35 years and she’s only only gone fishing with me twice early in our relationship. She’s been asked many times why she doesn’t go fishing with me. Her response has been “ that’s his thing, besides I’ve already landed a great catch so what else do I have to prove.” I believe in the adage “happy wife, happy life” because it’s been my personal experience if the Mrs is happy then she wants to see me happy. And if fishing makes me happy then she wants me out on the boat fishing. And if fishing involves traveling Mrs B is more than happy to go along for the adventure, just as long as she can stay in the resort or cabin.
  24. Hang in there @Jmurphy87 and hope your doctors are able to help with your recovery.
  25. The night started with the teams with the best records in each conference and billed as a potential Super Bowl matchup on National television. Hats off to Baltimore, they played mistake free football and won convincingly. Purdy had the worst day as a pro throwing 4 interceptions with Darnold chipping in one more at the end of regulation. At the end of the day both teams were still the #1 seed in their respective conferences. The Niners have some things to clean up in facing the Ravens down the line, but in the meantime they have to take care to business this Sunday in DC.
