Thanks to a Flow-Rite drain plug switch for the bilge, there’s an easy to read “in-out” display. In the event I launch the boat and I forgot to put the switch towards the “in” setting, I‘ll just say to myself “bilge pump operational, check” as water is being pumped outta my boat’s hull. My old boat I hardly ever took bilge plug out cause I just didn’t want to climb under the stern and mess with it.

Outback Steakhouse is still in business @TnRiver46, but the last time I was there my steak was seriously over seasoned and the experience wasn’t impressive. I recently went to a Brazilian steakhouse, 16 different cuts of meat (beef, chicken, pork, lamb) cooked using indirect heat and served tableside off the skewer how you like it cooked and as much as you want. I highly recommend if you have the opportunity. *And all this talk about money and the law…. Anybody ask their guest(s) if they have their fishing license on them before leaving the dock? (I forgot to mention it in my above previous post).

I gotta agree with the rules previously stated above by others. They’re your rules and since they pretty much mirror my own rules, must be respected and followed. Even though I’m pretty much a solo angler, here’s a few of my thoughts to add regarding a day on the water; I wear my vest (Mustang inflatable) from the time I leave the dock and it doesn’t come off until I return to where I launched. Personal experience has taught me this is good practice. Feet in shoes stay in the boat and on the deck - I don’t put my feet on the deck cap and neither will my guests. If you miss a hook set and the weight hits the boat or motor, a simple “sorry about that” goes a long way. (Yeah it’s a pet peeve, I can create enough “stars” in the fiberglass on my own and don’t need any help) I genuinely like the offer to wipe down the boat after it’s recovered and on the trailer. The offer of gas money is appreciated, but I respectfully will decline it - a burger, fries and a soda would be welcomed with a lot discussion on the days fishing.

Hang in there @A-Jay, not that I’m saying anything that the both of aren’t already doing or already know. Hopefully it’s a minor setback where the lady with the lightning quick hook set will be on the water with you and you’re back enjoying what you and Lynn are doing the things you enjoy.

Hey @Norcal angler, it’s been a complaint from anglers fishing the delta for awhile now. In my opinion the spawn is towards the end of its cycle, a lot of those smaller fish you caught are probably fry guarders with the bigger females trying to recover off the bank. And in the State’s aggressive efforts to eliminate all vegetation the bass use as cover, predation by sea lions during the spawn haven’t helped the fishery. Unfortunately, I haven’t been on the water in over a month so I can’t offer any help from recent trips. But judging by recent tournaments bigger bags are showing up with most guys covering water until they find them. And welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums

Father’s Day present from Mrs B. just arrived from Japan via Amazon. This Alphas is a pretty little reel and will probably be replacing my trusty old Type F slinging senkos.

I just wanted to thank everyone on this thread for their opinions as I was looking at both these reels for quite awhile with the exchange rate making the decision more difficult. For Father’s Day Mrs B. gave me the gift of the Alphas which arrived today via Amazon and will probably be replacing my trusty old Type F.

I definitely enjoyed his character in Kelly’s Heroes, and his presence in movies over the years just seemed to make the particular movie I was watching better. Given all his various roles when watching an interview last night it was surprising that he was an introvert was told when not getting a part of “the guy next door” that “he didn’t look like he lived near anyone.” Thanks Donald Sutherland for making our lives a little bit better and condolences to your family.

I think most of us with families reach this situation involving our fishing over the finite amount of free time we are afforded. My solution was to join a club or fish a local tournament circuit, that way I was committed to fish at least one day a month come hell or high water. There will always be time to fish @RenzokukenFisher, it’s when you have the opportunity to go you seem to appreciate it a little more.

@Crow Horse, I’m also curious as to the fisheries biologist’s reply. I just attributed similar bruises and scales that look like miniature potato chips on bass to chemical burns due to overuse of pellet herbicides by the state.

It’s been awhile since I’ve had to deal with propane tanks. My biggest complaint was the tank seemed to go empty with half cooked meat on the grill during a family BBQ followed up by a hurried run to the gas station or hardware store.
