Lost fish: To see ‘em or not?
I want to see it. The “One that got away” in my mind isn’t going far and probably has friends of similar size that frequent the area being creatures of habit. In a lot of ways that’s why anglers fish the same water/bank, drop waypoints or use the same baits they’ve caught a big fish with. And I’d also like to know what I need to correct so I can get a future photo opportunity if everything thing goes well.

Lure Retrievers
I have one of these as well, telescopes out to about 15 feet and I can’t remember when I got it cause it’s been quite a long time. It paid for itself the first time I had it in my boat and many times over since, including the last time I went fishing and got a Vision 110+1 hung up in about 10 feet of water. My Stump Master came with a curled wire and when I’ve broken it off I’d just get a heavy duty hanger, jury rig a replacement and once installed it’s back in business.

Vinyl seat repair
I had my Ranger seat tear @gimruis due to the buttery soft vinyl being stretched at the seam (before pic) and I used Krazy Glue make the repair. It took a few minutes and worked out well enough for me.

The bad parts of where you fish
I can’t really complain about the “people” when out fishing. When you live in the most populous state in the Union it comes with the territory and how can ya begrudge others trying to enjoy the outdoors. Naw, when it comes to the bad parts I’m conflicted between the state’s destruction of bass habitat by indiscriminate use of herbicides, the increase of sea lion preditation of bass year round which becomes really bad during the spawn (I’d rather they stay on the docks of Pier 39 with the other 1000 sea lions eating anchovies thrown to them by tourists) as the sea lions are getting really good at feeding on bed fish or water diversions that reverse tidal flows and allow saltwater intrusion. But in the big picture I’m blessed to able to fish 1200 miles of one of the best bass fisheries in the country.

OEM replacement carpet?
Best place to buy Ranger carpet is from Ranger if you want it right. At least that’s what my thought process was when I recarpeted my Ranger a few years back.

Boat price opinion
Thanks for filling in some of the details @Justin38, still would like to know the hours though as it’s gonna be a 7 year old boat pretty soon. I also did the same type of calculations with my old boat vs new and went with a new boat.

Boat price opinion
Congratulations @Justin38 on your decision to upgrade to a tournament level rig. I’m just a little curious as to what you meant by $17k of gear (is it included tackle) and what is the make, HP rating, hours on the motor and is the trailer in good shape? I don’t want overload you with questions but those are a couple of mine based on your original post.

Suggested Gasoline To Use?
@LSU Fan I’d just keep using the BP/Amoco 87. It was my experience with my old ’04 Optimax when using higher octane fuels the longer burn time damaged the air compressors. Sticking with the 87 octane and Mercury fuel additives should help keep your Opti trouble free. California’s gasoline is 10% ethanol by the way. Good fishing. *My old 225 Opti had 923 hours on the original powerhead and running strong when I sold it for a new boat with a ProXS.

Leaking 6th Sense Crush 50X
Good to hear @Huckfinn38, hopefully you will get them replaced. Granted it is a little bit of an inconvenience that some would rather not deal with, but contacting the manufacturer helps them with product feedback which leads to a better quality product for us anglers.

Leaking 6th Sense Crush 50X
@Huckfinn38 I’d give them a call at 936.228.7454 (they’re outta Texas) and ask them what’s the deal. 6th Sense seems like a reputable company as they make excellent baits and maybe they will replace them. Good luck

Pleased to announce I have a boat
Congratulations @SirWoogie on your new ride and access to even more fishing opportunities!

What rod/reel caught your PB?
It was on a 7’ MH Okuma Reflections rod, Shimano Curado 201B with 65lb braid to a 20lb fluorocarbon leader and tied to a 7” AC Mag Shad.

Boat Seats
As mentioned by @looking45 give your Ranger dealer a call with your boats RN hull number. If the seat cushion is still serviceable, you can order replacement “skins” as opposed to a whole new bench seat which can be replaced by the dealer or an upholstery shop.

Post a photo a day!
This morning when taking the grand dog out to do his business I caught this little guy having a grand ole time in the pool spillover. This little hummingbird was just chirping away as he splashed around in the water, rise up for a second and then head back down to flowing water to splash around some more.

Game Wardens
@gimruis it’s surprising how few F&G wardens there are state by state. Some of the F&G enforcement duties was handed off to local law enforcement (California did this) due to state budget deficits. Here’s the number wardens in MN in 2022 per google - The DNR currently has 160 officers, but has 25 vacancies across 155 stations, with the majority in the northwest and southwest.Feb 11, 2022

Retirement.... Age 63+ and finally looking forward to it!
Congratulations @ButchA on a well deserved retirement! As some of us can attest, you now have all week to do things that would take all day on your weekend. Good luck, good fishing, and welcome to Bass Resource.

How do you organize your jerkbaits?
@newapti5 on jerkbaits I have gone the route of make and color with each group of thoroughbreds having their own storage box. Granted, 16 baits per box might not be optimal for some, it saves some boat storage space while helping with my idea of organization and most importantly works for me. *This was a break from using 3700 series boxes.
