What rod/reel caught your PB?

Recommended Posts

Your biggest bass, what rod/reel did you catch on?

Mine came on a $39 Walmart Abu Garcia Black max combo that is now 10-12 years old. Definitely places it as having a special place in my heart!!

Mine was with a BPS 6ft. Med (I forget the model) paired with a TD Advantage and good ole 12lb Original Stren. That was my topwater combo for years. It and a Spook put a lot of fish in my boat.

Thats very funny question, I am sure most of us here got our PB on cheapest combo.

I got mine on this Daiwa D-Wave with 8lb test cheap nylon and since I had no drop-shot weight I just comprmise and bite done split weight at the end of my line :), The only right thing there was my brand new red daiichii #4 hook, Everything else was shaky and I cought my two 8lb bass with that day.

A Mitchell Avocet, 6ft medium (Walmart special, $39.98) with a BPS  7 1/2  ribbon tail, watermelon/ pearl-garlic.
Broke my PB twice that day. I had been at a 5lb for a long time, then I caught one over 6lb, 20 minutes later I got one just over 7lb.
I didn’t need the boat to home, I felt like I could have walk on water all the way home, man was I pumped.

The reel is an Abu 4600c with the red thumb bar. Thats all I used . The rod was probably a Berkely Lightning rod . 6 foot with pistol grip handle.

Probably the exact same thing as mine, even the line.

I have 3 8# and I have no clue about the rods but I remember the baits;  1 salt and pepper tandem spinner bait, 2 chartreuse spinner bait, 3 1/2 brown living rubber football jig with a double tail trailer.

I caught my PB (8lbs) on a DC734 with a Zillion SV throwing a Booyah spinnerbait at Lake Ray Robert’s.

Have caught quite a few 5-8lb fish in one particular pond with a 6’6” medium Ugly Stik with a 35 size Pflueger President throwing bluegill cutbait for catfish. Idk why but that particular pond doesn’t usually spit out numbers, but it spits out size.
