  1. If were talking of the same reel, it has been upgraded with a carbon fiber handle and different bearings, if Im not mistaken, the handle alone is around $100
  2. I don't get the swapping of the gears in the E7, if I wanted a 6.x:1 Curado, I would get a Scorpion, it seems like that would be a little cheaper that either buying a citica to strip or purchasing a new gear set from Shimano, granted I don't know how much the gears are to purchase.
  3. I started with 6'6'' rods and now 7' is the norm that I use with the exception of a 6'10'' and 6'9''. I'm actually getting interested now in 7'2'', 7'3'', and 7'6'' rods, I have a 7'6'' flipping stick and a 7'9'' swimbait rod and the difference that I've found in the ease of casting and such is substantial enough to move in that direction. Aren't the reaction rods taylored for treble type baits?
  4. ? I think he's trying to raise his post count....he has like 10 posts of just smilies and such.....Those are some nice steelies by the way Dwight
  5. I live the snapbeans. I caught a few bass on one last week just running it over top of grass, looking for bluegill. It catches all sorts of panfish.
  6. Ima Roumba- bluegill and stinkbug Manns Elite Waker- Lots of good colors there are alot of great baits out there... the Lucky Craft RC looks good too
  7. Why would you need to measure tape :-?
  8. I find vanish to be a step-up from fishing with frog hair. Have friends that like it, but it just doesn't do the job for me. It broke off too easily when I used it, has the abrasion resistance of a spiderweb, and I lost a nice spook and an even nicer fish.
  9. I don't like flourocarbon but I do like P-Line Flouro-clear, while it's not as strong as CXX in the same size, it is a smooth, silky, strong line. It does stretch a bit more than the CXX or even CX, I personally have not had a problem with it. I have 12lb on my tube rod and 8lb on my spinning rod (misplaced my 10lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid but am quiet pleased with it now)
  10. I have two Curado, an E5 and E7, I don't have a citica but if money is tight it's the way to go. RW knows his Shimano's and if you have it to spend, you won't be disappointed by the Curado
  11. Welcome to the forum. The Curado is a good reel and which one really depends on how you like to fish. The E7 is good for plastics with a faster retrieve, the E5 is a great cranking reel with slower retrieve. I would say E7 but I like to throw spinnerbaits on a 6.x:1 which isn't a ratio of the Curado series but is the ratio of the Citica
  12. If you watch the Iaconelli video on the homepage he discusses when and why he uses hair jigs, marabou included
  13. It's probably not your line choice because this is a big problem that IU have seen with tubes. The spin on a faster retrieve, not so much when fishing them but in transit back when you reel fast so you can get another cast in
  14. Posted two days ago....top of the second page http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1255524581
  15. Unfortunately, he is no longer a member of the forum. Seemed like a good guy too.
  16. Shallow-Medium/Jerkbaits: 6'10''MH Carrot Stix Gold $200....bought on ebay for $130...worth every penny...after using it for so long I would pay retail for another if I needed it, it matches perfectly with my Sol and techniques that it is used for. Medium-Deep: 7'MH Lucky Craft BDS Cranking Rod $150..yes, actually surprised they are that cheap, a $200 rod at least
  17. Yeah really....I'd like to see 256 people in Frostfire.... ;D
  18. I have 10lb on my shallow crank/jerkbait rod and really like it. I wasn't thrilled with it as deep crank line, felt like it stretched and broke a little too easily on deep snags but is really smooth and casts great.
  19. Looks like a frog version of the banjo minnow to me
  20. I noticed this too with P-Line Flouroclear, it seems dry and stiff, almost like it would crack if bent, also it looked swollen but everything seems good as new with a few more squirts but It doesn't sit right with me
  21. Quantums do make a sound when casting, the newer ones, I have an energy, seem to have corrected this some what, it's not very lound but still a sound. I wouldn't call it a screech as much as a loud hum like a "zzzzzzzz" sound, my old energy was pretty bad and it's very prevelant when you watch coverage of KVD. I also have a Code and it's not so bad.
  22. Bill Dance sprays KVD Line and Lure Conditioner on his reels but it's for managability purposes, not gonna help in your case. Probably needs some lubrication like reel mechanic said but knowing what reel would help also.
  23. I much pefer these eagle claw hooks over standard colors
