  1. Since I moved, this is where I spend most of my time
  2. usually either a shakey head with a finesse worm (some variation of watermelon), or a 5'' stickbait.
  3. I think the general consensus by the cali guys and big baiters is that you don't use braid ever for swimbaits. I use 20lb CXX
  4. Caught one today, went 15 maybe 16...... OH WEIGHT....never gotten close but I live near the first official trophy bass lake in KY so if I ever get a boat....better watch out...don't think there has been any doubles yet though
  5. I bet it was Shaw Grigsby on Okeechobee right? If so that was a pretty good episode. I have a king shad and like it, the action isn't as great as other baits I have but I don't think it's quiet as fragile as mentioned, have had it hung a few times and threw it in a tree the other day, still kickin though
  6. I loved the kitten doing pushups
  7. It's junk. Stiff, frays, very little manageability, and tough cinching knots in greater than 12lb. I have 17lb as a leader on my flipping stick only because I have it and not opposed to retying the leader after every fish.
  8. why? There are other reels that are 6.8oz or less that aren't as expensive as the Steez Maybe the steez was a bad comparison... lets just say I don't expect this on to be $200...could be wrong
  9. half a pack of hotdogs on a crankbait
  10. This may be interesting, I really like the Patriarchs and would like to see what they can do. Kinda got a funny feeling that that weight will produce a price tag close to the Steez, let's hope not.
  11. I use a 6'10'' MH Carrot Stix Gold for shallow-mid cranks and topwater; 7'MH Lucky Craft Cranking Rod for deep divers; and a 7'MH Avid for spinnerbaits. I like a little stiffer of a rod and faster reel for spinnerbaits
  12. They are terrible cranks, that's why they were discontinued. I'll dispose of them for you if you like, I'll even give you $2 a piece for the pieces of junk. :
  13. Sounds like a tourney at the lake my dad fishes. One fish over and the tourney is in the bag.
  14. X2 - And get that help soon. Back problems don't go away on their own, especially if you continue doing what's created the problem in the first place. No they don't. I joined this site last year because back problems had me bed ridden for a few months. Get it checked out as soon as possible. I thought the same way you do, thought I was too young to have problems. I'm 24 now, and this started 3-5 years ago, kept blaming my bed, pinched nerve, pulled muscles, etc... until I finally couldn't walk, and finally went to the doctor. Had an MRI, found out I had two bulging discs and a severe rupture, and two days later I was in the OR. Back surgery at 23, and had I done something sooner, it would have been at 20 and could have spared me years of pain. The worst thing is to put it off, it just gets worse. I also wouldn't recommend strength training until you get it checked out. It can be beneficial or detrimental depending on the causes of your pain.
  15. Must have been tough to fore go the 3 extra guides ;D This kinda sucks, the Bucoo seems like it would be a nice rod for a nice price, considering the swarm over the St. Croix mojo. I was thinking about one but I don't guess so now, I can handle 9 guides but no less.
  16. The closest BPS is 3 hours but their Mojo selection is lacking, 3 last time I was there and they were all spinning rods and don't like to buy from the sitw due to shipping and extra shipping for 7', no Cabelas. There is a Dick's, actually 2 but said they can't get mojo's for a few months due to the high demand. Probably going to wait it out and get one from TW when they are back in stock I like the Puls-R but on TW the only one they have is 6'3'', looking for 7' thanks for the replys
  17. Pflueger Patriarch 64LP, $130-160 on ebay
  18. I would use a 7'M-MH f-xf rod, depending on what you like. As for suggestions I would say either a Powell Max or Kistler Magnesium TS with a Pflueger President.
  19. you could also use a tracer braid...I know there is a fireline tracer braid, not so sure about powerpro, I don't use powerpro. Toray also makes a finesse braid that has a white section every meter or so.
  20. ...to match my Daiwa Alphas 103, got a little problem with liking combos to match. Probably the only person a little disappointed that the Damiki Dark angel is actually red and not pink, still looks good with a Quantum Energy though. Okay, back on subject, I have considered the Mojo, first in the running right now but nowhere around here has them right now and they are back ordered on TW. Also took a look at the Arrius Ultra XL, seems like a nice rod, they liked it pretty well on TT, just not sure of the interchangeable butt section, they also said they were a little overrated in action and soft at the tip and power and action are something I'm not budging on no matter what color. I'm specifically looking for a 7'M fast or extra fast for fishing tubes exclusively. Anyone else know of any others available or any that would aesthetically match the Alphas 103.
  21. I wish we had pickerel around here. they seem to give some action on a slow day.
  22. Deep hooking is actually how my dad catches his cats, we eat all the cats, crappie, gill, and walleye he catches. From my experience, it doesn't take long for them to get it down, once they start to run, chances are it's been swallowed. This is my observation on mud and bluecats. Appaloosa seem to be a little more finicky and don't swallow baits as fast.
  23. hahaha...that's great. Never been a huge fan but you can't deny that they are highly talented. There's a radio station here that plays at least 1 rush song per hour.
