Jon Boat Construction questions.....
I would say that depends on what you plan to use it for (type of water, size of impoundments, etc) For this particular project, might I suggest, (Glenn, pls dont kill me) that you look for a wood boat building site. You need very specific info. I'm afraid most of us would just be guessing or answering "to our best ability" which may not be the best for you. You need exact answers and techniques. I do ask, that if you can find good info, to inlcude it in your thread as you go along. Many of us will be very curious to learn more about this project and hopefully we'll have the correct answers for the next member who takes on such a project. I would like to include this build thread in the sticky section above regarding boat rebuild tutorials. (should you decide to post a "build" thread ) Good luck, keep us posted.

3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Man, I sure am tormented that I wasn't there but I'm VERY happy to see all went off without a hitch and all had a good time. It's an odd thing, these BR roadtrips,...you find yourself spending time with folks you probably would have never met in any other circumstance. A plethora of personalities. What comes from this is some amazing camaraderie and the excitement of looking forward to the next one. They really are something special and it has torn at my heart to not have been able to be there this yr. Ugh,...I wanna puke. But I'm glad you all had a great time and I'm glad more members got to meet the ones I met last yr at Fork. It really was a treat to meet the folks in person, especially when you feel you know them so well already. Glenn and Keri are a class act, that's a given. Great job by all and a special thank you needs to go to Alpster for all the legwork he did to make this happen for you guys. I'm so glad we made him the first ELITE member. He fills the shoes better than anyone could have hoped. Excellent Job Ronnie and THANK YOU. All the folks who cooked,...I know,...I missed out here too. Shoot, just missing Muddy's meatballs almost made me cry mid week, lol. But a thank you to the cooks as well and Brent,...a very nice gesture, and you weren't even there. You're support of the board is noted and appreciated as always. 2009 NO EXCUSES 8-) KENTUCKY LAKE,........HEADS UP!! HERE WE COME!!!!

Jon Boat Construction questions.....
Longer the hose,...less suction. As for gelcoat, it is the "looks" part of it. If you don't care how it looks, just paint it. Even with Biax, I would do a layer on each side. Good luck, take lots of pics for us!!

Can I deck this boat??
Wow, never seen one that wide, that thing must be sweet!!! VIN # is on metal tag, riveted to transom, some are on the outside, some on the inside. (last 2 digits will be the yr) What is the make of this one??

General question on tackle
Excellent advice. Youy have lots of great learning experiences ahead of you, some very satisfying, rewarding stuff and your attitude is perfect for learning. If I had to make a suggestion to someone in your position, I would say to get some trick sticks, a floating rapala and a spinnerbait. Come ask questions about how to use these (separate threads). Learning these 3 baits will give you a well rounded experience to draw from when using most other types of baits. A great base to build on. I would hold off on jigs till you build up your fishing "senses" (you'll know what I mean when you start seeing places and you'll KNOW there's a fish there,....when that starts happening, you're ready for jigs)

I love my waders..
Dude.......those waders are lucky. 2 trips with them in early spring and you're smackin' bass like that??? I need a pair I think.... Any idea of that fish's weight? Doesn't matter, she's beautiful, just wondering. 8-)

Keep trashing it. It will prove itself. I did it to Worden's for a few years, until I whacked a couple 5's and had 5 for 21 pounds in 3 hours. I don't have to, the locals have done it all by themselves. I heard there are some old TV's in the back that hold fish..... Matt, the engine block and shopping carriage sections have been hot lately...... 8-)

B&W TV ???
I wouldn't say I LIKE it but I can watch it and not be bothered. On the contrary, I HATE it when they colorize an original B&W!! >

I'm not one to defend the park as a fishery, I fish the most pristine water in the state, but I'll tell ya, I've seen some bags come out of there that will make you say....."Wha....????" You never know at that place. Being an Ice out tourny, I think most guys look at it as a donation to a good cause and an opportunity for all guys to say hey to each other, regardless of club. Like a season opener with a support theme instead of a competition theme. At least you got out. I'm also looking for company tomorrow if you're interested, I'll be on lake X with an empty front seat. Leaving about 1ish, after things warm a bit.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Something I do, and found out today that massholeMike does to, is to set aside a separate acct, or xmas club acct that gets $10-20 directly deposited each week. Even with just $10, you'll have 4/5 of the $ by the time the trip comes.

Please welcome WBT Pro Angler Sammie Jo Denyes!!

How do you attach your decks?
Waterproof the entire piece of wood before beginning. Although the carpet in rubber backed, the water still gets through and gets held there. If the bench is 15" wide, cut board 19" wide so you have a 2" lip on each side. This lets you fold the carpet under, AFTER you've attached the wood. Staple, trim excess carpet at bench and for a clean, finished edge, use a thin metal molding strip underneath where the carpeted lip meets the bench. Pre-note- Make sure carpet lines are all running in same direction, front to back or side to side, as long as all panels go the same way. Now mount pedestals.

Best Bass Fishing
You might want to check that poll, it doesn't make sense. You are asking who has the best bass and the answer options are "best" and "most"....???? Biggest bass are in Cali. (to date) As for who has the most bass, that could go to any state. Just about every state has ponds/lakes where you can catch tons of bass, all day. They'll be smaller but they're bass.

New Guy Needs Help
Welcome!!

Is this illegal...
2 good points -looking professional helps - Don't need "logo's" to look professional. I remember seeing a guy at a tourny up in NH about 3 yrs ago, he has a tourny shirt he had it embroidered to look like it had patches on it but when you got up close and read the embroidery, the different shapes would have sayings inside them like "your name here" and "This spot can be yours for 5 entry fees" and "advertise here". I thought that was brilliant. I would rather see a nice guide shirt with your name on one side, name of club on the other. Add the sponsors as they come. The bigger the sponsor, the more room allowed o the shirt. TO ME...first impression, of someone wearing a shirt with patches of non sponsored brands, I see a "wanna be" instead of a "will be". Just my opinion on what my HONEST first impressions are.
