What are those holes under the smallies jaw?
Those are mandibular pores. They house the mandibular nerve. Used to help locate and ID prey. They work in conjunction with the lateral line. I assume they help detect movement below the fish, like prey on the bottom. They are often used as one way to ID a pike from a large pickerel. Pike have a minimum of 7 and Pickerel usually have 5, sometimes 6. Scales on gill plate are another way to differentiate between the 2. A pike only has scales on the top half of the plate where a Pickerel has a fully covered plate.

Hull Strake
What is it? I looked it up and got this part of a boat or ship. It is a a horizontal strip of wooden planking or steel plating on the exterior hull of a vessel, running longitudinally along the vessel from the stem to the stern But I still am not quite sure where it is located exactly and what it's purpose is. Cart?

Fishing at golf course ponds
Well, I've only 1 GC pond and we had a family membership there but it is a public course just the same. The pond I fish isn't really part of the course design, off to the side, used for irrigation so it's not like I was in the way of people playing. I'm pretty confident that they don't stock them. It's very possible that fry or fertilized egg could be delivered to them via their natural water feeds. They DO often stock the ponds with trout though for Fathers day or family day events. I'm pretty confident that the ones they don't catch don't survive but as for the bass, it only takes a few to start a population if the water is condusive.

Fishing at golf course ponds
Public courses will be MUCH more accepting. Be sure to follow all the rules of golfing ettiquette (when crossing fairways, etc. don't walk on the greens or traps, yadda yadda)

Daiwa Tierra Or Capricorn Spinning Reel
GK, do the same test run in a few months. Dirk bought a capricorn, great price admittedly but,....this is one of the few comparisons where my cheap butt would absolutely spend the extra dough on the Tierra. Regarding the Tierras paint job, it does not scratch!!!! Seriously, I cannot own a reel more than a month without it looking 3 yrs old. Mine still looks brand new after a complete season. Aside from performance being flawless, it holds up to LBH beatings. That's saying something.

Look at some these beauties that are for sale
I like the chrome ones too. If I knew Robert was out looking for his favorite lefty's xmas present already,...I would have dropped a few hints. It's ok though, seems he knows what I like (the TD-Z matches my Comanche) ;D

Industry role models
Absolutely tin!! Bill Decoteau-NEPVA director-outdoor journalist. Put on a fantastic show today. Top notch host/MC and his drive to make these guys lives better is inspiring for sure. All GREAT answers guys!!! A few more I have to mention as they have had a DIRECT affect on my life. Glenn- No need to say more there. He's the father of this huge family Art Pasley- CAST For Kids Eastern regional Director/ World Fishing Hall of Famer Mike Broggi-Stratosdadri- RI B.A.S.S. Youth Director- My partner in anything we do here in RI. I'd be lost without him in many ways, not just fishing. He and his family have become part of mine.

Industry role models
Who are your role models in the industry. One of mine that comes to mind immediately is Clay Dyer (Mojo thread) (Not a "Clay Dyer" thread, please list "others", thanks) I'm looking for people who really, really, really are in a class all their own. Like Clay. People who inspire, people who promote personal growth or quality sportsmanship, etc

My FIRST Jig fish :)
TOP NOTCH MY MAN!!! 8-) I wish I had learned the jig at your age. Excellent job.

Strange Jig-Bite...
Your dad and I noticed the same thing,...it wasn't just the jig. Even though we were the camera boat, we made some casts in the am. Mike J was working the same bank after we did and I watched him get the call 2 times but came up empty and he's not a slow-poke on setting on them. Oh well, that 3 you had was still in the upper echelon at the scales. Great job securing 3rd, Great Day As usual,...tin2win,...in the $$ Did YOU bring home a souvenir? (that was MY joke BTW,lmao)

How would you fish it and why?
I would fish deeper early and move shallower as the sun heats things up. I would use 3 of my high confidence baits. That's it. Over thinking fishing is something I am an advocate against, lol. I think color selection is overrated. Fish what you know, fish with confidence and fish where there are fish. It's that simple.

Tomorrows bass fishing tournament dilemma!
avoid cranks with braid, you want something with a little give. You'll never go wrong with a jig, winter, spring, summer and fall. If you are not comfortable on the bottom, throw a Fluke,....another "can't go wrong" winner Good luck, go give them basses a BassResource beating!

What bugs or animals do you despise?
Crickets Robert,....You do realize there are a few bugs in the Amazon, right? They have moths that can carry away a dog. Prepare to lengthen that list of yours. :

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Selfish request- Looks like I have another migraine cluster starting up. Please keep me in your prayers, I can't afford to miss any more work. The pain, I can handle, the eviction,....not so much, lol non-selfish request- A very good friend of mine has a g/f that is just the cat's meow. She had a tumor about 10 yrs ago, on her liver. Dr.'s went in and removed it but there was a root growing off of it that embedded in the wall of her heart. They removed the tumor but the piece of the root in the wall could not be removed for fear of collapsing the heart wall. They gave her 10 yrs. It's been 10.5 and she is starting to have difficulty again. Now, normally I wouldn't ask but both of these people are as good as they come. If anyone deserves our prayers, it would be these folks. Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers. Although I have not known them for very long, these 2 people are very special to me and very deserving of our prayers. Thanks guys.

Fishing stained,murkey, DIRTY water..
We aim to please I hope we get to meet up. Many of the guys there today fish this particular body upwards of 20-30 times/yr. Tin2win fishes it a few times a week. I only fish there once a yr., the CAST fundraiser. This is also the lake that we hold the actual CAST event at. It's a public park/zoo (huge) and the water winds through it. Years of duck feeding (and defecating) have left the place loaded with algae and plankton. Visibility is extremely low but for some reason, the place holds tons of fish and quite a few in the 3-5 range. This is DEAD in the heart of the city. It's like the "central park" or RI.
