BassFeed.com
well,...not really, although that's what I thought when I checked out the site and saw the CFK segment. Pure coincidence there! Billy found me by searching google. He was looking for articles about "low budget" angling and found one of my articles here on the site, the one about "getting off the bank" (affordable ways to get afloat) It won't be a CAST interview, it will be all about not having to spend 50k to catch a bass. Right up my alley

My Lake Fork Video (w/Tom Redington)
I also used that song in my Godsmack compilation video, lol. live2fish- with windows movie maker,....SAVE OFTEN!!!! Can't tell you how many times I've lost hours of work and wanted to send the computer sailing down 3 flights of stairs! If you have AIM, SHUT IT OFF before starting. Good old AOL, doing all they can to screw with our efforts. Man,...if there is one company I would like to wipe off the face of this Earth, it would be them. Word is that the sony program is awesome (Hawg_Hunter uses it) I'm still trying to figure it out though, lol. For wind noise, take a tiny piece of foam and an elastic. cover the mic on your camera (will be tiny) with the foam. Presto,....no more wind noise but voices still come through.

Heavy travel day
This weekend is a heavy travel weekend, especially today. This is the basis of my safety awareness address I will be giving to the other drivers this morning. Safe travels to all this weekend and remember we are sharing the road with more people than usual through this period, courtesy goes a long way, relax, enjoy your trip and don't let road rage get the better of you,....don't sweat the small stuff. Happy holiday everyone!

Jon Boat question
You can't just clear coat bare aluminum, it will come right off. A metal etching primer is needed first before ANYTHING will stick. My buddy has a tracker that is bare alum w/ a decal. He buffs it to a mirror like shine often. Aluminum oxidizes very quickly so if it's that aluminum shine you are after, plan on LOTS of elbow grease. LOTS!

Trailer wheel bearing maintenance
yearly, minimum. I suggest BEFORE you put her away, if there is any moisture in there, you don't want it to sit over the winter and possibly pit the axle. If you do not back into the water and unload by hand, it's not so critical but if she gets dunked often,......stay on them. Bearing buddies are cheap, I suggest putting a set on next time you service the trailer. On my saltwater trailer, I replace the lube via the buddy EVERY trip. Overkill, but grease is cheap.

I've been asked to do a segment on www.BassFeed.com. We will be taping next Thursday night. The segment will be about small boat/value Bassin'. Go take a look and listen to a few of the interviews. I'm excited to be listed among the likes of KVD, Ken Cook, Karyn Sanchez, etc. I spoke with Billy Raymond last night and he seems like a great guy, can't wait! www.bassfeed.com

Stuck on one type of bait?
I think it is more about how it is fished most often. slowly and on the bottom. I personally go through phases. yrs ago it was hard jerkbaits, then worms, then jigs, now senkos. What's in the mix for next year???

Fishing Jigs
Great stuff Craig, thanks for taking the time

Trouble getting hook out
The tool above works great, it allows you to follow the shank down to the curve of the hook and remove it by pulling on the curve, thusly bringing the hook out curve first so the point can't get caught. Rapala makes a pair of pliers that have a split ring tool on the tip, these also work very well because the "beak" on these pliers allows the same approach as the tool above. Backing up what Avid said, even in saltwater, hooks take a very long time to "rust" out. Plus, having a rusty hook embedded in your flesh is a sure bet for an infection.

My Lake Fork Video (w/Tom Redington)
Great vid guys!! Surely a trip of a lifetime, more to come!! Tom-Kudos small editing hint. "Mute" the parts where you don't have dialogue. Vids come out cleaner and more appealing if the "wind noise" etc is eliminated where not needed. Save your money and come with us next yr!! PS- I remember that first view of Fork , coming across that bridge!! I was right there in that truck with you guys No need for red, kyle (sp?) represented JUST FINE with the North Face jacket

Question on a Pickerel I caught
The ones with the black line running up and down, through the eye area, are pickerel. The larger one, without the line could be a small pike. Best way to tell is to count the mandibular pores. This is a Pike, they have 7-9 mandibular pores, a pickerel has 5-6 Also, the scales on the gill plate are different. The rear plate on a pickerel is entirely covered with scales whereas the Pike scales stop 1/2 way down. (below)

Reel suggestions for soft plastics (spinning)
I'd spend the extra $10 and get a pflueger president. They have more than proved themselves over the last few yrs.

Least I can expect to pay for a trolling motor?
depends on lake size, like mentioned above, you don't want to get caught in the middle of a 3000 acre lake w/ a 30lb motor and lots of wind.
