I'm on a BR high
HOLD YOUR HIT!!! Man,...this stuff is nuts! : :-X Just so ya know guys, Eric and I were out dark and early, SMOKED 'EM!!! People in their houses were cupping their coffee mugs looking out the window in their jammies just shaking their heads at us,lmao. When we were pulling out, a resident I don't know, very nice woman, pulls up and rolls down her window and says, "OK, SOUNDQ is here [my license plate] the season can begin" LMAO If she only drove by in Feb when we were busting through the ice!! A special "Thanks" to KU, with the nasty weather, I referred to his chart for a last minute call if we should go or not. Following his chart, we went and we conquered, HARD! Thanks Buddy!! ;D

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Watch your diet silly!! Sounds like this one was avoidable, time to crack your whip on yourself and display some of that discipline that you obviously have. Shame on you.

Glasses vs. Glasses
Lower budget? I doubt that bud,....the only reason I have the shades I do is because Calcutta gave them to me,lmao. Even at that, of the ones I was given, my favorites retail for $16 ;D For low end money, I highly recommend Calcutta. Even if I hadn't been given these, I would buy them because I trash everything, ESPECIALLY shades and these few pair I use have held up quite well for a $16 product. (I tend to lose quite a few pairs of shades too. I definitely hear your cry though, adding prescription to any pair of shades brings things to a whole new price group.

Some bass are dumb
just a measure of general fish intelligence, below are 2 pics of rigs I make for bluefish. These are finished products and will catch fish repeatedly till the wire leader shreds.

Glasses vs. Glasses

I'm on a BR high
Just doing my thing, surfing around and sometimes, 10 or 12 threads in a row are just so positive it makes ya feel good. Guys helping each other, giving to each other, leading without judging and just all kinds of good stuff. Some of the stuff you read here is real time, up to date stuff by guys who have been addicted for years. It really shows in the passion and knowledge involved in some of these threads. What we have here is what so many search for on shelves of tackle shops, clubs, magazine subscriptions, and out on the water. ANSWERS. It's pouring rain here, 42 degrees with a "feels like" of 32 after a week of 80 degree temps. The rain isn't going to stop till noonish tomorrow but we will still have the strong 20-25 NNE winds. The alarm is set for 4am and I'm going fishin'!! Just a big Kudos to all

what do you ugly stick haters use?
I'm not a hater, everything has it's place. If you are looking to get to the next level, it's time to upgrade, that's all. You'll still want an ugly stick in the mix maybe for crankbaiting or something. Extremes are a good rod for that next level. Matt 5.0 is in your exact shoes, a couple weeks ahead of you. His catching and understanding are improving dramatically. You can get some great rods, maybe even 2 for $60-$70, you just have to hunt and ask lots of questions (here, not at the store ) One of my favorite rods ever, the Mitchell spidershafts, retailed for $59. I still use them. Keep an eye in the flea market section of the forum for some great deals too.

Pick up trash.......
Trout Unlimited- I make a donation every year at the table they set up on opening day. It's a small donation and I only fish trout this 1 day a yr but I embody their mission statement and feel great about helping a little. Ask Dirk,Matt 5.0, NATHANJAMES,Redtail, nboucher, ArtPasley, and the many more members I've take there, we essentially patrol the lake EVERY time we are there which can be daily on many weeks. I've fished this semi-private water for 20 yrs now. My access hasn't happened by accident. It also gives me a personal touch to the lake. I keep the sides of the road clean just the same as if it was the curb in front of my house, and now, after 20 yrs, it feels like it is. Rude fisherman
and dangerous. It is illegal in salt water for just this reason.

Whats Up?
We catch the largest size class in our lake (very healthy body of water) using the 5's 6's and 7's. Less smaller guys with the 6's and 7's but plenty of hawgs on the 5's also. Wacky only

I think you should just re-write it RW For those who are confused about power vs action, please read the thread RW wrote regarding the subject power and action defined

any other ugly stick owners out there?
The ugly stick is viewed a s great rod for the $$ for someone just getting into the sport. For the angler looking to get to the next level, rods with sensitivity and backbone are usually a must. Great rods for entry level or for someone that consistently shuts rods in doors, other than that,. waaaaaaaay too soft to use for much of anything.

The snowball effect.
What ever you do, DO NOT change the oil in your car till your finances are caught up ;D Best of luck with your new rig, ever consider a coat of paint to pretty the girl up? There are some nice colors I can think of that would go quite nicely with the Yamaha motor color. Would certainly make it 1 of a kind also.

Keeping a hooked fish away from branches and junk?
The line definitely needs addressing but so does the rod. You want a stick capable of changing that fishs' direction. Beefier rod and line will certainly help.

**My Turn- Season Opener 07 VIDEO**
Dust?? It doesn't even get taken out of the car, goes everywhere with me!! Seriously, that rod gets a lot of attention from folks that come aboard. Plan on making a few more with different specs to fill the holes, I've been using that rod for just about every application, time to dial in a little better w/ technique specific sticks

Catch & release or keep?
I have a hard time keeping respect for those that keep bass unless it is out of necessity. I know it's harsh but it's how I feel. BTW- Rainbow trout, farm raised, $3.59/lb and actually tastes good too.

Daiwa Tierra review
Best spinning reel I ever owned. Drag is smooth as silk, has micro increments that have a nice metal click to each one, sweet. I bought the bigger one, planning on using it for saltwater when the blues get in so it's a little big for bass but I truly love this thing. Weight is great. The handle, I love it. I torture all my gear, I saw the finish on this and thought for sure it would look like crap in a month. 3 months later, I can't even scratch it. Awesome. I don't know if it is partly due to the rod it is on (the one flechero built me) or a combination of the 2 but my casting distance w/ a trick stick gained about 10-15 ft. That's a whole new world in my clear water lake. I plan on buying the smaller one as soon as I get caught up with the finances. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED $130 is about as high as I'll justify on a reel and I will have no regrets paying that for another one.
