  1. At age 13, you will need an adult on board to compete. Look into joining jr bassmasters
  2. It helps with gut hooking but it's not a must. I use octopus hooks. (I like setting the hook )
  3. Sweet!
  4. You heard wrong. A fish can breath out of water as well as you can breath under water. With this in mind, how long can you hold your breath? Next time you lip one, take a deep gulp, when you need to exhale, get her in the water w/ forward movement. Repeated dunking is a must if time is needed to remove hook.
  5. Are you fishing for food? Were you planning on eating the bass?? ?? There are other species you can fish for that are much better to eat than carp or bass.
  6. See a dermatologist
  7. 500 *** please. I bet Brent would even cut you a deal and give you 600 Sounds like a lot but I've already gone through 300+ and it's only the end of May
  8. Well, there's your problem!! ;D j/k, welcome aboard.
  9. Muddy, what did you to with the background, isn't there a setting that lightens or darkens it for folks with eye issues? Could you post what worked for you please? Thanks
  10. We check all our motors regularly precisely because of the damage line can do. Extra shear pin and wing nut in the tackle box for "on-water" repair is a smart idea too.
  11. In other words,........stay tuned Fish is on the water,....big things can happen.
  12. even easier, hold down "ctrl" button and press "+" key. Each time you press it, type gets bigger
  13. You gotta learn somewhere, sometime. (Right RiskKid, Muddy ?) We learn from our mistakes (hopefully) I made my share of them learning with a 14 ft jon. Thought I was the man after a 1/2 yr or so. It was easier for me to do alone. I used the old "Bow line to bumper" trick too. Slick. Then I got my first real boat, a 17 ft manatee. New game. Now we added weight to the equation. New mistakes, New lessons. Then my friend bought a 27 (29?) Grady-White. New Mistakes, New lessons. Using your head is the big key. Asking someone with experience is NOTHING to be EMBARRASSED about! I have gone so far as to check up on a nice couple out of Barrington, RI while they were on the bay. I noticed the yellow hulled boat as the one who asked me to help a few weeks before. They explained that they were new to boating and had taken a safety course but had lots to learn and didn't want to get hurt or have a needless accident. I FULLY explained how and why I was doing what I was as I backed them in and launched their boat. I explained to each of them that they each have a role to play and the steps are simple and will become repetitive with time. A system. well, I noticed them on the backside of Prudence Island one day and motored over to say Hi and see how things were going. We ended up chatting for a good hour, sharing a drink and a snack and answering some very good questions they had. Often, out of 1 question come 5 more and a few interjections. What if this happens, this is how this happens, etc etc They got a great education, FOR FREE by just asking. Not to mention that we each have 1 more friend out there and on the water, you can't have too many friends.
  14. uh-oh,....Fish, I'll be there in Sept, I totally understand your mindset. Plan on Robert and myself taking his boat. I still plan on filming a bunch and would like a short stint on your boat for a quickie interview for the folks here if that's ok though. As far as what we are doing to stay sane,....CATCHING FISH!! NOT BEING AT WORK, ETC IF you go alone, some key points 1. PFD'S, A MUST 2. Action plan, TELL someone where you are and when you expect to be back, if you stray, call and inform said person. 3. Cell phone
  15. Rod length, weight and line will have much greater effects on casting distance than the reel. President casts just fine and plenty long. If you want to cast further, lengthen your rod and lighten your line.
  16. Give your brother a "high five" for us Welcome Wurm, ask away, you're at the right place to learn.
  17. In your browser bar click "view" click on "text size" Choose "increase"
  18. Jr Bassmasters This is a few of them at last yrs event-kids helping kids Doesn't have to be bassmasters, any youth team will do. As for the politics between groups, BASS, FLW, ABA TPW,etc, the kids override that, everyone gets along for the kids.
  19. I'VE TAUGHT EVERY GIRL IN THE LAST 20 YRS TO FISH AND SOME STILL DO.
  20. Only thing Brook Hogan has that your girl doesn't is an extra 30 pounds of chub I've been getting G/F's involved in my fishing for over 20 yrs. Best move ever. Hint: Hit the grocery store, grab a couple filet mignons, broccoli, summer squash, bell red pepper. marinate the filets the night before. Cut veggies, place on tin foil, add some seasoned salt and a few pats of butter and enclose veggies in tin foil. wrap the whole thing in another layer w/ seam on opposite side, toss in fridge next to marinating steaks. toss mini grill and propane in car w/ tackle box, etc !/2 way thru trip, fire up grill and have yourselves a lakeside chow. Back to fishin' I promise, you'll remember those days.
  21. :-[ :-[ :-[ Oh NO,...What the heck have I been doing????? :-/ :-/ :-/ The Indians got it done with a piece of bone. Give me a hook and a trick stick and I'll give you a fish
  22. Just about all of the above, although I've never caught a bird that I couldn't reel in. They are quite light.
  23. They replaced a magnesium for me last year with no fuss, they paid shipping and everything. The epoxy was peeling, 1st run had issues.
