  1. 0-1 hour. Got everything in the garage in one location. Hardest part is muscling the Pond Prowler into the truck bed.
  2. With the popularity of Bass fishing having exploded over the last 20+ years, equipment definitely has alot to do with it. Electronics (side scanning, cameras), better rods/line, more realistic lures, etc....As with almost any industry; if you don't stay current, you'll be obsolete. Sure they can still catch fish but if they don't take advantage of the advances in technology they're at a disadvantage before they ever get their boat wet. Note I never mentioned age because anyone who balks at technology is at a disadvantage. But that may have something to do with not taking advantage of today's technology. Something about an old dog and new tricks...........
  3. Nice site there; lot of KVD videos. Thanks
  4. I started playing golf right before I got out of the Air Force back in 1991 and within four months of playing got down into the mid eighties. I was stuck there for several years with a couple rounds in the 70s when the planets would align. It was rare for me to have a good time when golfing especially when I was playing poorly. I just didn't have the right attitude because I just knew I was only one swing change away from being a scratch golfer; aren't we all. I hit the ball too high which helped stop the ball quickly on the greens but was really at the mercy of the wind out there. I fought for years to try and get the ball flight lower to no avail. A couple instructers I went to told me 'you want to hit the ball high' so I didn't go back to them. I eventually gave up the game because it started getting really expensive for the amount that I was playing. Fishing can be very expensive but it can also be relatively cheap. I since learned to enjoy the time away from everything but now it's on a lake not a golf course.
  5. I use gas (nice Jenair stainless jobbie) but prefer food cooked over charcoal. It's just sooo much quicker with gas and cleanup is quick.
  6. I don't try to dwell in the past either but I like the idea of going back to witness a historical or noteworthy event. Great post man. It's tough not to pick the 'go back to relive the birth of your kids or your wedding, etc...' you know; the cheesy answer. I think I'd go back and witness the end of World War II when the Japanese signed the unconditional surrender. The World (the part that wasn't blown all to hell) celebrated the defeat of evil and the U.S. was the lone nuclear power. Simply an outstanding time to be alive.
  7. Was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1986-1991. Was honorably discharged as a 'Buck' Sergeant in the Avionics field. Was stationed at Little Rock AFB, AR working Avionics on C-130s and went on several TDYs (temp duties) the last one being the Gulf War in 1991. I appreciate the thought LBH/all. I also appreciate all those guys who served and those who won't be coming home.
  8. Bah, dump her and get ya an Eye-talian woman. After you come home smelling of garlic she'll tell you she's hungry, let's go eat.
  9. My wife and I were watching T.V. the other night and I switched over to the Lakers game during a commercial. She asked me what the heck are you doing? You hate pro basketball. I told her I just wanted to see the Lakers lose because I don't care for Kobe..... LeBron James is better IMO.....
  10. Good ones Chris. #4 has a wow factor with the reflection; had to look twice.
  11. My main thing is drinking Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain...... Wife and kids battle for #1 spot depending upon their needs with the wife edging them out if all things are equal. She'll be there long after they've moved on. From March to September bass fishing is my main thing. Come September though it's Pro Football time so it's GO STEELERS time. I also do Fantasy Football in a church league so I'll watch every game I can even if it's the Lions vs Raiduhs. That pretty much takes me to February and I'll take those 28 days to recover and start chasing the bait monkey.
  12. 7" Zoom worm Red Shad. No matter how the bite is going with other lures, I'll at least catch SOMETHING with this.
  13. I quit drinking about 6 years ago but if I still did, sign me up for this beer boarding. Oh and make the cheese Monteray Jack and Extra Sharp Cheddah.
  14. Thanks for the write up RW; heading to Dick's this afternoon to pick some up. Question about the new formula; will it say that on the tube/bottle? The Dick's near my house hasn't been the greatest at keeping old stuff off the shelves. Thanks.
  15. Looks like a great bait Tin; thanks for the review.
  16. As long as it's in her gullet, yep it counts. Now if were lodged in the mouth and could fall out, then probably no. Interesting and not really silly. Good one Muddy.
  17. Yeah, I know what you're thinking 'another thread on this' but after all the concern on how to store this stuff, I wanted to come up with a sensible storage device for tackle boxes. I carry my bottles in my tackle box so I can dip just what I need or freshen up a worm if I want. I worry about them rolling around in there and leaking so I got to thinking of a solution. What I came up with is shown in the pictures below after just about 15 mins of work or so. First I grabbed a 2'x6' piece of scrap wood I had laying around and traced around the bottoms of a bottle of JJ's with a pencil. I then got out my Forstner bit set and it turned out that 1 11/16" bit was just the right size. I drilled down nearly an inch into each of the three holes while keeping about 3/16" spacing in between each hole and the sides. Once I got done drilling out the holes, I sanded the entire piece, rounding the edges over. Then I grabbed some 'Politician tape' (two faced ) and put a couple strips on the bottom of the wood to keep the holder in place once installed. It may not be fancy, but it sure is effective and pretty much spill proof.
  18. Maybe only 2% of the population could imagine why someone would be keeping fish, cats, dogs and horses as pets instead of eating them. LOL! I think they only eat pets in China Hey man, if they can make Mr. Ed, Lassie or Garfield taste like General Tso's Chicken, I'm all for it. Actually, some of the places I've eaten at in the military may have been serving just that.
  19. I've asked a couple cops 'when you walk into a place where a woman or child has been victimized, how do you not just pull out your pistol and serve justice on the perp?'. Both said it was extremely difficult but in some cases, they resist enough to rough them up quite a bit.
  20. yep, those Wayans fellas are pretty entertaining. Mo muh-ney, Mo muh-ney, Mo muh -ney! ;D b Exactly who I thought of opening this thread. Jim Carrey as Fire Marshall Bill ;D
  21. Some great replies guys. WRB, Raul and fishfordollars especially.
  22. Read this thread and you'll see the only thing you're doing wrong is cutting the hook instead of doing what Glenn suggests in it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1128002349/22#22
  23. It's fat but it's mouth isn't that big. I'd say 4-5 lbs.
