I"m on medical leave from my job right now. Yup, I went back to work about a year ago at the first signs of the economy slowing down. Anyway, I had two vertigo attachs in a 12 hour period. wow. this ain't no joke. I dropped like I was hit by a bullet. first one happened about 3 am. i got up to go the bathroom and was on the floor before I knew what happened. It passed quickly and I didn't think much of it because i figured I just got up too fast. but then that afternoon at work, I was sitting at my terminal and Wham!!. It was like the earth just spun out of orbit or something. No warning just falling out of my chair and hanging on to the side of my desk. I called my wife who came and took me to the ER where I was diagnosed with "peripheral vertigo" and told to see a Ear Nost and throat specialist right away. Fortunately I have an ENT and he saw me the next day. He performed a manuever called the Epley manuever (you can see it on U tube) and then repeated it about 5 days later. It helped tremendously. I still get a little slight dizziness sometimes and can feel a little unsteady but no repeat of the fall downs, at least not yet. I have to go for a bunch of follow up tests and they actually diagnosed me with something else. "Ocular migraines" it causes my vision to get these patches of extreme blurriness. I've had it for years and thought it was due to a sinus condition I have. nope. They gave me a brain scan (still got one, by golly) and I see a neurologist in a couple of weeks. Think I just may go back to being retired. sure will increase my fishing time, but my outriggered canoe may be a thing of the past. We'll see.
  2. the chug bug is hot right now. I caught 5 and lost one in a little over an hour. The sun was shining brightly as you can see in the first photo. Then it got darker. MUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHH darker. LOL
  3. the chug bug is hot right now. I got this color at a dicks. See my next post for two more chug bug bass. good fishing
  4. did some bank fishing the other day. caught two for a little over an hours work. Nice fish. Met a couple of nice people too. Funny how pics can be deceiving. the chug bass bass looks bigger in the photo but is actually about a half pound smaller than the worm bass.

Hey, I'm alive and well and still fishing, though not as 'avidly' as in recent years. This is nothing unusual for me. I first got "hooked" on fishing when I was about 15 years old. I've never stopped but I do have years when I fish all the time, and other years where it's just now and then.....like now. It comes and goes but always comes strong sooner or later. Oh, and yes, video gaming has sorta got me right now. later.

Ok Ok Ok so I bought the Cabela's dangerous hunts 2009. Pretty cool hunting game. Anyone else playing this game? Question. when the icon appears for "good place to place bait" and you get it from your inventory........what buttons do you push to actually place the bait? Oh, and this is a GAME, so baiting is OK. hehehehe.
  7. do squirrels in the attic count?

Yes, I am Avid. Master Basser and now terror of online gaming. Ummmmmmmmmmmm well i catch a fish now and then and get killed 10 times for every bad guy I waste. Soooooooo.... I found out about no aim assist, now if I just figure out how to know in advance when a bad guy is about to slit my throat... Oh, and I reallllllllllllllllllllly hate those dogs.

Anyone playing online? I bought myself a ps3 for Christmas with the cod world at war as my first (and only) game. Wow, this is intense stuff!!! Question. Does the aim assist work in the multiplayer mode? My death to kill ratio is about 10 to 1. Thank you for helping me make the world safe for democracy.
  10. Yeah topwaters work in November. Those are some great fish dude. My November topwater fish is nothing compared to yours but I kinda like the story. Of course I'm in Florida so alot of guys will laugh it off. But we had a pretty good cold from come through the other day. Saturday was shirtsleeves and sweat....85 degree day. Sunday the high was 69 with overnight lows down to 49. That's a mean cold front by Florida standards. So today I went out just walking the bank. I took one rod and one lure. Rico popper. I just wanted to see if I could catch one. Well one is exactly how many I caught but it was about 15". He came straight up from the bottom in about 6 feet of unusually clear water. then didn't slam or inhale the lure, he just sorta took it in his lips and was swimming back down to the bottom.. I watched him go down and set the hook just as he went out of site. very cool.
  11. fishing tournaments where you travel around to different lakes SHOULD make you a better angler.
  12. Warm and sunny here on the treasure coast. Spent a few hours on my local lake. Caught a dozen mostly on c-rigged senkos, one on a popper and three on a sluggo. This guy was about the average size. Still skinny, but they will fatten up soon. He was fun to catch. I saw him swim up from about 10 feet to gulp down the sluggo.
  13. Muddy, Speak no evil is an old and valued concept. but a guided trip on the Stickmarsh fishing shiners is a $500 plus day. Sure we could all join hands and sing Kumbayah, but wouldn't you rather know the skinny before spending all that cash?
  14. Just a point of fact. SteveP and I were fishing the Stickmarsh one day last spring. We were having a great day, even by stickmarsh standards. Jim Porter was guiding two gentleman. They were fishing no more than a hundred or so yards from us using shiners. We got back to the ramp at about the same time and compared notes. I don't remember the exact numbers but Steve and I had over 50 bass up to 10+ lbs. using standard stickmarsh baits like ratLtraps and swim senko's. They had something like 4 or 5 with nothing over 5 lbs. They were mighty disappointed and doubted our truthfulness untill we showed them the dated pictures on our camera's and informed them that we were in the boat that was in sight of theirs for most of the day. Anyone, including an experienced guide can have a bad day, but the fish were biting that day really well. He never moved, he never changed tactics. Wazzup wid dat?
  15. That's no fun! Is the tree climbable? I totally get this. I buy alot of lures every year, including some very expensive ones. but the sight of free bait hanging from a tree is irresistable. It's a game. Why not try a rod and reel with a weighted treble. spool up with some braid or other heavy line. Now it's time for casting practice. See if you can't either hook onto the lure or the line that's attached to it. If your lucky enough to get a hook up, don't snap the rod tip, just pull straight and see if you can't pull it down. If that fails, go to the "total war" option. find a neighbor who has one of those extendable tree pruning gadgets, and start cutting. someone is going to get that lure. why not you?
  16. SteveP. came up with this great idea. He I challenge you and a partner of your choice.....Shills allowed.... to a topwater bass fish off. Rules....any topwater bait is ok. Most bass over 2 lbs wins. Must fish home water. Prize.....pink slips for trucks (big brown trucks NOT permitted) date : Jan 31 - Feb 7. The gauntlet has been thrown. (to be continued).....
  17. maybe God has a special place in his heart for bass anglers. those fronts could mean great fishing/
  18. Dealing with hollywood sterotypes is something we all have to deal with one time or another. I'm Italian, so was surprised to find out from the movies that all Italians are loud, and in the mafia. I guess if we all are victimized by hollywoods need to pigeon hole, race, ethnicity, gender, and region, to name a few, then maybe.....just maybe we won't be so easily suckered when we see others stereotyped.
  19. another vote for bluegill color. I use it where the primary forage is shad and it still works great.
  20. "Google it" has become a favorite expression.

I have not had this problem with dt's but I have it happen with bagleys. I still buy them because they catch fish.
  22. Great day. shiner fishing is alot of fun.
  23. I think this may be a good example of when you hear it said it's funny, but when you read it it looses something. I know some of my jokes have had similar an effect on others
  24. I live in a community that sprays for bugs, and fertilizes for weeds etc. The bass in my pond are plentiful and healthy if not huge, but I wouldn't eat one.
