  1. Well hookey, there's always that dream trip to Argentina.
  2. Hmmmmmmmm.....I used to limit myself to one sixpack, two shots of tequilla, and a huge (deleted). Now my limit is much much lower. Oh,.....you mean bass? OK....22lbs.
  3. Placing a dead fish in the water is like putting a dead squirrel in the water. It's dead. You are not "returning" it, you are disposing of it. Understandable that fish die during fishing, tournament or not. I don't see the problem that he culled the fish from his livewell. I see the problem as that he threw a dead animal into the lake. I can't be sure, but I would think most states would prohibit this. As far as not having a specific rule prohibiting this....well, you can't come up with a rule that will cover every contingency. I think most BASS clubs would have a rule that requires compliance with existing law, and a clause that gives the tournament judges the right to interpret the rules. The fact that they penalized the guy is a good thing. The fact that he won the tournament shows that from a purely competitive point of view, he made a wise decision.
  4. Terminator. but I don't do well with spinnerbaits unless it's pretty windy.
  5. Gift certificates sound good, but they lack a personal touch. Spa? nice thought but 50 bucks doesn't go far at a beauty spa. why not call her sister, or one of her girlfriends. They would no doubt have a good suggestion. Or just get the Shimano.
  6. "They do not fly, but they are quite good jumpers," Yeah right. That's what THEY want us to believe.

    funny.
  8. I heard that Ansin Garcia had some. Can't say how much. I didn't hear about any in the stick marsh. All of the lakes got deluged and I think rose to record levels. That was some rain!!!
  9. The last few times I went out in my canoe/boat I used oars. My battery hasn't been charged in a couple of months. I may take the TM out this afternoon so I threw the optima blue top on the charger. It was at 70%!!!. Man this sucker holds a charge. Expensive batteries fer sure, but I have dropped it on the driveway, left it in my truck with temps over 100 degrees, and other things neglectful, lazy, and stupid, yet my optima keeps on keeping on.
  10. I too use swim senkos with alot of success. I was having alot of trouble with hookups untill I switched rods. I now use a Loomis 783 and the difference in hookup rate is huge. This rod is listed by loomis as medium heavy but is closer to medium. I believe the difference to be that the tip "gives" a little more than a typical MH. My bass aren't feeling the rod and dropping the lure. I have never had the tail bitten off. Try a rod with a softer tip but with enough power to set the hook.
  11. It is not uncommon at all for guys to let their pride get in the way. a friend told me recently about going fishing with a guy who insisted on fishing a particular lure. My buddy was using a ratLtrap and slaying em. He offered several times to loan the guy one in the same size and color, but the guy kept insisting that his lure would work. He didn't catch anything and my buddy ended up with 18. The guy was all bummed. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
  12. what debate? catch and release is good. Selective harvest is good. Many bassers, including myself practice both. I see no conflict at all.
  13. Hurricanes and tropical storms are strange and dangerous events. Ike went from a troubling tropical storm to a category 4 behemoth hurricane in a matter of hours. It's still pretty far east of the US but the forecast track has it aiming for my front door. September in paradise.
  14. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58797____SearchResults the MK Vector 3x is a great trolling motor. The backtroll feature lets you rotate the lower unit while pointing the tiller towards you. A pricey tm for sure but it would suit your purpose extremely well.
  15. I expect a few br.comers will. I would be interested in hearing about your experiences.
  16. You should definitely go with whatever color you have the most confidence in, but I gotta tell ya, dark purple/green flake, black/green flake, etc. is all six of one / half a dozen of the other to the bass if you get my drift.
  17. Graon........... That's pure muddy.
  18. The fish would not have been accepted had it been caught after the IGFA was in place I don't know why you guys can't get over it already. How can you possibly make such a claim Matt? Perry did what was required at that time. If their were different requirements in place at that time, how can you possibly know that he wouldn't have complied with those requirements? I don't get it. I really don't. Why don't you and the other Cali WR whiners hold an event "We're gonna hold our breath and turn blue till you change the record?" the WR bass is swimming somewhere in California. It'll get caught. Sooner rather than later is my guess. Then we'll know how much it's worth.
  19. Wouldn't it still be considered the world record bass if you grew the thing in a little pond in your backyard, fed it baby trout for 10 years, then caught it? actually I think that's pert near how they do it in Cali
  20. Are you going to use stren line because the guy who caught the fish did? Ummmmmmm...Isn't that the whole point of paying people to endorse your product? It seems pretty evident that people in fact do buy products that are endorsed by others. Using the line that caught the world record bass would seem like a pretty powerful endorsement to this consumer Did he catch the WRB. he just very well might have but I doubt anybody thats still living will ever know for sure California dreamin again Matt. The official record keepers of the entire fishing universe have declared his bass to be the world record. If you don't accept that it's ok, but you speak for yourself only. Ask the Georgia boys if they believe it's the record. By questioning this entry, you question the validity of the entire IGFA record rankings. I repeat. Mr. Perry did what he was required to do at the time to get into the record book. That's good enough for me. Now it's time for you California WR hunters to stop whining and put the controversy to rest by legally catching the new record. Oh, and if it is caught using a Mattlures product, throw the guy some cash a'right? 8-)

LOL. Ahhhh so good to make a few grumpy ole men laugh without soiling their pants. thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll keep the original. at least I know for sure how much it weighs.
  22. The problem is the current world record; 22 lbs 4 oz was never validated to todays standards, that's kinda like saying that the problem with Joe Lewis is that he never fought today's champions. Perry did all he needed to do at the time he caught his bass to get into the official record book. Now someone else will have to do what they need to do to get into the record book today. I don't see any problem whatsoever

OOOOOOOppps. Looking at it now, I see that it is a different fish. Check out the sky. Overcast in one, blue in the other. Hmmmmmmmmm..... so I guess I'll leave the post up, but change the question to Which one do you think should be my avatar? thankee.

Not sure which forum to post this in. My avatar shows my PB, a hair under 8 lbs. This picture is of the same fish. Question. Does the bass look bigger in this picture? I think it does. It shows more of the belly. Whaddya tink?
