First Bass On Jigs
Jigs are a way fun way to fish. Not very popular in florida but I have had days where they were just the ticket. Warning. Jigs just may be the most addictive bait known to bassers

some fishing pics
when the person in the boat is your son or daughter, losing the big fish contest is no pain at all.

Everything is right in the universe...again

Ban on Soft Plastic Baits
So live bait is bad because the fish swallow the hooks. And plastic artificial's are bad because trout can't poop. Lead sinkers are bad because it pollutes the water. I say we just ban all fishing and be done with it.

My recent pond experience...
If by "overrated" you mean that anglers always estimate high, then I couldn't agree more. If your saying that measuring the size of a fish by it's weight is over rated than I'm guessing you would you rather catch 10 one pounders than one ten pounder.

What did I do wrong???
when it comes to fishing under pressure, few would argue that KVD is a master. He lost the Lake Wheeler elite event by less than a pound. He had 5 fish hooked and lost on the last day. Chit hoppen mon.

Gotta hand it to ESPN
I just finished watching the "Southern Challenge" tournament on Lake Wheeler. Their coverage of the event with Jeremy Starks and KVD vying for No. 1 was downright exciting. Kudo's to ESPN for turning profisional bass fishing into a "must see" spectator sport.

The $40K oil change
The car's warranty is void if maintenance isn't performed by a dealer. It would have been cheaper to fly in a certified mechanic. Methinks there is more to this story than meets the eye.

G-Loomis Spinnerbait Rods
A GLX with that new Fugi reelseat and black EVA grip would be sweet. Conventional gets boring after a while. Couldn't disagree more. I hate that spongy Styrofoam feel of the black grips. Natural cork feels great. The cork becomes "personalized". Like an ole faithful dog it takes on the characteristics of it's owner. Leave all that plastic stuff to the Japanese and their wannabe lookalikes. I likes me Loomis' just the way are.

jig rod position
I don't think there is an absolute correct angle to hold the rod at. The important thing is that the jig drops vertically. If you have to lower your rod tip to make that happen then by all means do so.

8lb mono berkley sensation ?
throw it out. Seriously. It breaks way too easily. If you don't throw it out, you may be tempted to use it again.

Happy Birthday Gidget! :-)
Happy Birthday Gidgett. The two of you look very happy. Nice.

The $40K oil change
I kind of enjoy the irony. He lives in country that is one big oil well, but has to ship his car to another continent for an oil change. That's like a guy in Nebraska going to Japan for a corn dog.

Tried out some of the new Rage tail stuff.
I will try to remember that. It certainly sounds better than my oh so technical description of "creature thingy" lol ;D Don't be so hard on yourself Mrs. M. "creature thingy" is actually a pretty good name. catchy, and very descriptive. "Space Monkey"? I don't get it unless they are trying to capitalize on the "bait monkey" thingy. :-?

AM I MISSING SOMETHING ?
The whole "what's the best rod/reel" argument has more to do with brand loyalty and endorsements than anything based in reality. The best is what you feel proud to own and are happy to fish with. Quantum rods better than Loomis?

High end spinning
f you only have $15 to spend then find the best $15 reel you can find. The "best" $15.00 dollar reel? Seems like an oxymoron. Re - read Muddy's post. The best $15.00 reel will be a used but in good condition $60.00 reel purchased from a trusted source.

G-Loomis Spinnerbait Rods
Has anybody heard of a GLX Version coming out? I heard a rumour... I'm a true believer when it comes to the joy of fishing a GLX but I can't see the benefit of one for spinnerbaits.

Tackle boxes: soft vs. hard
soft with a hard utility box to hold hard baits.

A good day fishing but a bad day with my fishing rod
I average one broken rod a year. Various reasons. Mostly though due to some kind of mental error on my part. Which brings to why I buy Loomis and St. Croix rods. 50 buck replacement no questions asked. If due to a defect on their part only $20.00

My golf course pond theory
My theory is that golf course pond bass are stuck up. Try throwing some megabass or other high end Japanese lures. 8-)

How often are you "SKUNKED"?
I do get frustrated though when I catch all over the lake during practice and then struggle to get a couple in the boat on tournament day. What's up with that Choke. I know alot of guys over the years who can fish pretty regularly then on tournament they forget everything their own experience has taught them and go running around the lake in a near panic doing things that they "heard" about from others. Relax, do what you do best.

Catching DD's- repeatedly
Isn't this why we practice catch and release, so fish can be caught again? I think that about covers it.
