Should we just let em die?
The health insurance/obesity thread got me thinking. I saw this statistic several times, a little time on google should confirm it. approxametly 40% of the health care costs a person incurs in their entire lives occur in the last 2 years before death. Pretty staggering. In most western countries some form of healthcare is given to the populace but thier "standards" are often criticized as being below ours. One of the cost saving measures widely employed thorughout the world is that the terminally ill are treated for pain and made comfortable but the huge expense of extended hospital stays, surgeries, and procedures are not pursued. At least not at the insurers expense. Yes, we all know that some people do recover from terminal prognosis, but most don't. It keeps healthcare costs down. My question is. When several doctors have concluded a patients condition is terminal, should every effort be made to prolong/save the patients life, or should he/she be made comfortable and let nature take it's course?

**UPDATED** Black worm with green flake?
June bug, purple with green flake, sounds close enough. Everybody makes their plastics in this color. I'll bet there is a reason for that.

is Lucky craft overpriced??
over priced is a subjective view. They are expensive when compared to most other brands, but that does not automatically mean they are OVER priced. It also does not mean they will catch fish in the lakes you fish under the conditions you fish them. Alot of lures are made from top notch components and perform exactly as described, for less money, but that too does not mean they will catch the bass you chase when you chase them. I guess if you have confidence in a lure that catches bass for you, then it's worth whatever you paid for it. If it don't then it ain't.

Bass Record equals Million Dollars? your thoughts?
Anyone today will need to have a good marketing skills to make a million dollars in endosements, I think the above statement is very true. There is no doubt in my mind that the person who catches the new world record will make money off of the fish, but someone with good marketing skills, and more importantly perhaps, good negotiating skills will make alot more than someone without. A million bucks? yeah, I think the right guy, using the right equipment, (big endorsers) with the right agent, say Ray Scott? could parlay this fish into a million or more. It's THAT big a deal IMHO.

Anyone watch the Olympic soccer matches?
The USA women pulled it out again for the gold. The brazil / Argentina semi final was interesting only to see ronaldinho demonstrating his passing the torch as the premiere player of this era to Messi. anyone out there care?

Gear from Amazon.com?
Amazon steers buyers to sellers, basically. I had a friend say the same thing to me just the other day. They have their own warehouses and stock all kinds of merchandise. I have bought from them for years and i can say that there customer service is second to none. right up there with LLBean. in the past few months I have bought a sony tv and a garmin gps. both of these items were "in stock" which means you are buying directly from amazon. I have never bought fishing tackle from them. BPS Cabellas' or Tackle warehouse get my on line business for fishing stuff. I don't like the "new and used from..." which is vendors. If Amazon does not have what I want in stock themselves, I shop somewhere else.

lake okeechobee
I read that the lake is back to standard level. great news. the article went on to say that the dykes have been inspected and are in "great shape" there are no plans to drain any water till it reaches 14'. I think the water folks are realllllllllllllllllllll happy that mother nature corrected their mistake of over draining.

Catch & Release Vs. Keep and eat
- To those who aided Muddy's cause
I'm not real clear just what happened here, but it seems to me that one of the needy guys Muddy provides with fishing equipment has turned around and made a donation to CAST in Muddy's name. If that's not it exactly it's probably pretty close. kudos to all donors, and dominick for putting the stuff into good hands.- Switzerland bans C&R
some things are kinda sorta stupid other things are really really stupid then there are the things like this. Totally dummy stupid. I mean, who plays a musical instrument on a fishing boat? shheeeesh.- how to know if you have a healthy lake or not
do this until the bass get smaller heads small heads. Is that a new species?- Tropical Storm Fay
Here it is Saturday, and we still have roads closed in St. Lucie county. Unbelievable how much rain has fallen. AP reported that an astonishing 25 inches of rain fell in Melborune, which is in Brevard County. I read that the big O is back up to it's average level, the downpour having reversed several years of drought. I'm not really in the loop with inshore conditions, but all this freshwater runoff must be wreaking some mighty havoc. If Fay follows predictions (which is saying alot) it will hit Florida yet again, and go into the record books as the only named storm to have landfall 4 times. Amazing.- SUGGESTIONS FOR BIG BASS IN FARM POND
all of the above.- Value of bagleys honey b's
The old Bagley's baits will never be duplicated. I know Bagley has come out with "classic" baits that use the old templates and hardware. I also know that some of the pro's will buy up the originals because the newer ones of the classic design aren't as good. I just can't understand why. Is the wood different somehow? I don't get it.- Sinker Pegging And Plastics
I use screw in weights all the time. I pull the worm over the hook eye and screw down the weight so that it is straight and snug against the worm. A bullet weight pegged to the top of a senko provides a long, steamlined, perfectly symmetrical profile. I know the Texans have used jigs successfully in thick hydrilla for years, but I fail to see how anything with angles and protrusions can be more weedless.- I know BR needs advertisers, but this girl bugs me
I guess that ad caught everyone's attention. My first impulse was that it was inappropriate, but then I thought that BassResource.com is getting mainstream advertisers, not just fishing industry ads. It speaks to the growth of the site.- Oil Prices Plunge!
As for Avid's suggestion of turning the oil business into a public utility, if health care reform can be labeled socialism, imagine what fun the pundits will have with that one! You are no doubt right about the cries of socialism that this would stir. Funny, but when the taxpayers bail out a brokerage house like Bear Stearns, it's called "rescue" but when we try to stabilize prices or provide healthcare it's called "socialism" - To those who aided Muddy's cause
