  1. Looking for a new squarebill rod in the $150 range. I have owned the Powell Max squarebill rod in the past but lost it in the water. Considering the Tatula 7M regular, St. Croix Premier 7MH, Team Lews HM85 7M, Lucky Craft 7M Fat Mini Magic, and what ever else is near my price point. Willing to spend a little more if need be but wont get anywhere near $200. Any suggestions welcome.
  2. Look at the Dobyns Fury. I like the 735 I have.
  3. I have the Fury 735C. Definitely not a normal extra fast. Acts more like most companies fast. Great frog and pitching rod.
  4. Uses for the 735 are frogs, pitching, flipping and small swimbaits. I use mine for pitching.
  5. My story with these 2 rods is: Owned a 7' MH Ghost, thought it was ok. Wasn't thrilled with the guides and the quality control can be really hit or miss it seems. Felt light, fairly sensitive, but just seemed poorly made and felt a little cheap to me. Sold it and a month later got a 7'MH Micro Magic Pro which is a much better rod and worth the price increase. I bought a Fury 735 a little over a week ago. Feels very well constructed, doesn't look or feel cheap at all, feels pretty light and is more sensitive than I thought it would be. It fished great and I can seem them selling very well once people get them in hand. For me it's a no brainer to go with the Fury or wait until the new *** Black comes out and compare it to that. Hope this helps.
  6. An Okuma TCS 7'MH will do it all. Can find them around $100 on Amazon. Other than that I'd look at the new Dobyns Fury, I enjoy mine.
  7. If your set on a Ghost then I'd say 7'MH for an all around rod.
  8. I use my MH Veritas for frogging. Great tip, lots of backbone. Too much rod though for light worms or weightless senkos. It definitely leans toward the higher end of the suggested lure rating.
  9. I'd honestly look at an *** Black or the new Dobyns Fury. I think you will find them to be a little more sensitive. I'd you do go with a Veritas think about a medium or medium heavy. They tend to run a little more powerful then other rods.
  10. I have the 735. Very impressed so far. They will sell tons of these rods. Much better than the Veritas and Ghost rods I have owned.
  11. I have the 7'mh. Use it for squarebills but it's definitely multi purpose. Great rod and like was said before can't be beat at that price. Feels like a higher end rod.
  12. I have both the 6'10 and 7'1 MH. They both fish like a true MH. Nice tip with plenty of backbone. Definitely not broomstick or H.
  13. Spray with KVD Line and Lure or Reel Magic.
  14. I fish from a kayak all of the time now. I don't prefer rods over 7'3 as you are generally sitting closer to the water and I find longer and heavier rods to be a pain especially in and around cover. I like to use 7' rods, makes it easier to pitch and work in the kayak. I'd get a 7' or 7'3 MH and a 7'M. The medium could be used for cranks, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, topwater. The MH for everything else. Or like DVT said get a MH and H.
  15. 6th Sense Crush 50X!
  16. Shimano Zodias, Loomis E6X, St. Croix Avid.
  17. I have a 7' MH Micro Magic Pro. No issues with it. Caught me 2 nice bass this morning.
  18. I have one. Makes a great all purpose spinning rod. Definitely has a decent amount of backbone for a spinning rod. Handles wacky rigged senkos and weightless senkos just fine. I really enjoy mine.
  19. Looking for a new soft plastic pitching rod. Rod will be used to pitch plastics in and around laydowns, pads etc... Budget is ideally around $100-$150. Is the consensus that extra fast action rods are not ideal to use with braid. Trying to narrow down the potential choices. So far they are the *** Black 7'1 H, Daiwa Tatula 7'1 MH, Daiwa Tatula 7'2 MH, Daiwa Tatula 7'2 H, and the Okuma TCS 7'H. Thanks
  20. Booyah Pad Crasher. Great hook up ratio for me. Priced good too.

Either one will work but a Rage Tail Menace is fantastic. Rigged either horizontally or vertically.
  22. Rage Menace.
  23. I've never understood guys who don't throw into heavy cover. Big nasty bass live in big nasty places. Go in and get em!
  24. Black works everywhere all of the time as a general rule. Green pumpkin/watermelon colors work best in clear water. I don't think color plays as much of a factor as presentation and lure selection does.
