  1. I'd be happy to break the 5lb mark this year. Had a lot of nice post spawn fish that just missed the mark. DOH!
  2. I forgot to add... any tips on what NOT to do when doing this? I'm pretty handy but no need to reinvent the wheel if you know what I mean.
  3. Okay, those look great! I think I'm going to take a crack on doing one. I've got a 7ft MH Lightning Rod that I rarely use but I might use it more if it had split grip handle. Sounds like project time at my house!
  4. Josh, Did you see all of these? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/search/search-results1.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&selectedPerPage=&hasJS=true&_D%3AhasJS=+&_D%3Asort=+&sort=all&Ntt=powerdrive&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1
  5. Daiwa S-Series Bass Casting Rods, has anyone ever used these rods? I'm in the market for another worm rod and thanks to cabela's they had them on sale from $109 down to $39 for club members, I used my points and spent a whopping $16 shipped to my door. I'm not usually one to by any rods or reels without handling but for $16 I couldn't not try one. Any thoughts?
  6. I use 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG's with 10" worms and have yet to have a problem. I hope I'm not missing out on something.
  7. I bought 2 of these rods two falls ago on clearance for $22 each marked down from $54. They are 7ft M 1/4-5/8 spinning rods. I have them paired with 2500 Prodigy reels. I use then for senkos, tubes, drop shotting, and weightless worms. I am hooked on these rods for the $$$. I bought another one this fall for the same price. Great rods for the money in my opinion.
  8. So I am now the owner of three of these reels and for the $37 each that I paid I might go get one more. I am a sucker for deals I tell ya. Somebody needs to cage that monkey!
  9. So I bought one of these reels last year and used it about a dozen times and really liked it. It has burner gears in it and has held up pretty well for my jig/worm rod. I have the opportunity to buy a few more of these reels for about half price for only a few more days. Does anyone else have any input on this reels? For the money I just can't see a downfall for this price. But I need to feed the monkey by tomorrow as I'll be out of town this weekend for the end of the sale. Thanks in advance all! Dave
  10. There are a lot of things that can change the price. If you want a lot of great info check out this site! Lots of good stuff and good people. www.tinsboats.net
  11. http://www.tinboats.net/forum Answers to all your tinboat ?'s ;D
  12. coffee please!
  13. I think it's all about variety. People just want variety and there seems to be a time and place for every rod/reel. This is my first year using burners and boy do I like them. I t-rig a lot so it's very nice to be able to pick up slack fast when you're getting charged. ;D
  14. Seems like a pretty good price to get on the water as long as the seller has all the paperwork you need. Go for it!
  15. 10" Berkley Power Worm - any color as long as it's dark!
  16. This is similar to what I use. Found in kids section at Wal-mart. They are like $2-3. I use it in the boat, the ice tent and anywhere else I want a little sound. Also nice to take on camping trips.
  17. I saw this as well but it's too bad you have to pay $8 additional shipping for the rod. Wonder if you could tell them just to keep the rod and send just the reel to save on shipping?
  18. I would back fill with some cheap filler. That way the line will lay right on the spool. I always fill the spool full of the line I'm using and then as the top 100 yrds gets beat up, I will spool that onto another reel, leaving the used line as the filler and having brand new line at the top. I should say I do this with braid on my spinners and round reels, never done it with mono but in theory it should work.
  19. I hear ya man.Last year I caught a 21" which is pretty big for our area and she only went 4.5 lbs. Fish should have been an easy 6 with the big head she had on her. Oh well!
  20. Berkley Powerbait 10" Worms! ;D
  21. If you want a cheap fix, use two small zip ties. Take the first one and put it on the blank just above the cork. Before synching it all the way tight thread the other one through. Pull the first one tight and then pull the other one as tight as you want to create the desired hook keeper size. Cut off the ends of the ties and you are done! I think this would fall into the LBH handbook as a cheap yet efficient fix!
  22. One thing to always remember when pumping the ball, make sure you have the arrow on the ball pointed to the sky! It helps a lot in getting the ball hard. Dave
  23. I run 5/0 gami EWG when fishing 10" Power Worms and have yet to have a problem. I love having that big hook to stick them. As far as penetrating, use some 50lb braid and it'll punch through!
