  1. When I used mono- it was my go to line. Loved it. But I left mono behind long, long ago.
  2. 95% of the time I am fishing inshore, I'm using 15# yozuri ultra soft on a curado 200. Well over half the time I'm out there, all year long, I am throwing a bone spook Jr or a bone spook one knocker. Caught a 23" red yesterday and invited it home for dinner, doing exactly that.
  3. No. I put a new carbonlite on my 7'm/f veritas and it is a featherweight thing of beauty!
  4. I just use some bps jigheads with a 60° line tie and 3/0 hook. They are dirt cheap. I was using all different kinds of shakey heads and it just chaffed me to spend that kind of money on the jigheads. I use these with zoom trick worms normally. I like the elaztech worms when the bite is tough/ water is clear. Roboworms too.
  5. I will gladly take that yo-hybrid off ya if you're getting rid of it.
  6. Oh. ....it said least favorite. I didn't say I wouldn't do it in a contest or tournement. Then, all bets are off and I do what I think takes to win. Even senkos and dropshots. You'd still beat me though. Lol.
  7. ^^ ditto. I can't stand the stretch of mono. And I haven't seen any real world advantages TO ME of flouro. So I will stay with my decade+ love of yozuri hybrid because I have no reason to want anything else. Well. ... except braid when flipping mats and frogging.
  8. Most lures. ... certainly the mainstream marketed ones.... will catch fish. If they didn't, they wouldn't sell. You know that one lure you got that one time and it has never even got a bite? Someone somewhere loves that lure and kills with it. Its all in your head. Year to year?! How about hour to hour! !! I've dragged a c-rig all day, and caught them crazy on a trick worm- and then the bite died. Switched to a brushhog and bam. ...start catching again. If I had done the opposite- I would've caught no fish and then what? Think that the trick worm and brushhog don't catch fish? The real moral here is that I was fishing where I KNEW there were fish and I KNEW what technique I needed to use to catch them .... THEN I worried about the specific lure. "Where" and "how" will always trump "what".
  9. Senko. There. ...I said it. If I'm fishing a senko. ... you can bet my day has sucked and I'm throwing "the kitchen sink" at them as a last chance.
  10. Snell knot 100% of the time when flipping mats.
  11. Went in to my local DSG and nothing was on clearence. Talked to the ( mostly clueless but helpful) counter guy and he said they had a truck come in yesterday slap full of reels and rods. And now. ..... the waiting game begins. ....
  12. Wow man! I need to make the trip down there and hit those peacocks! Its on my bucket list for sure. I visit Melbourne about once a year- just haven't made it down to the good stuff! Wtg!
  13. I'm not specifically familiar with Perry in terms of say, small ponds or local lakes. ... But you have the ecofina and aucilla rivers close by that have great bass fishing- and this time of year they will also be loaded with redfish and speckled trout.
  14. If you're fishing where I think you're fishing.... jerkbaits around grass is the answer! Good luck!
  15. Whoa dude, where did you get a 2.0 winch for $45!!!!????? Help a brother out!
  16. Being down here in Fla with all the heavier cover. ... I'd have to say 15# yozuri hybrid. And that's what I use on about 75% of my rigs.
  17. A couple of months ago I picked up 4 veritas rods- including a 7'11" flipping stick for $35 each. Looks like I'm going Xmas shopping tonight! ( hope I didn't miss out. .... wasn't on here this weekend to see this thread! )
  18. As with most hardbaits, I like the academy h2o line for value. Fat frees and 5-6xds round out my arsenal.
  19. You can take this recommendation as you will. .... but I use #15 yozuri EXCLUSIVELY for my inshore fishing. And I catch speckled trout, bluefish, jack cravelle, flounder, Spanish mackerel and the occasional shark with it. RARELY do I get bit off. I've been admittedly lucky with the Mack's though. ......
  20. Pretty good deal. I love my veritas rods. Congrats.
  21. This is what I did. ..... ten years ago. Haven't looked back. 12# is great for spinnerbaits. Its on sale. Do it.
  22. Yozuri for me. For about a decade.
  23. Got the brand new Carbonlite yesterday in 7.1. Took it out today on my 7' m/f veritas and threw a LC Pointer on it. What a blast! Match made in heaven! The carbonlite fits my hand perfectly, casts well and feels solid on the retrieve. Only caught one Dink this morning, but making cast after cast was a breeze because this rig is LIGHT! Just. ....wow! It threw the Pointer like there was no tomorrow. It took me a second to figure out the dual brake system. ...and its strange ( to me) dial set up, but it was pretty much set and forget and I was throwing into a stiff wind in no time. Pretty happy with my purchase...this is my first carbonlite. I got it at black Friday price with a free shirt. Shirt is awesome as well. EDIT: tried to post a pic but I just can't get that option to work anymore. It looks sooooooo sweet on my veritas- white on white!
