  1. I torch bass on the Giron at my local lake. I like to turn the handle 2-3 cranks and stop the bait. Imagine it as a rip bait but you reel instead of twitch. They tend to eat it just like a rip bait. It sinks pretty slow and almost suspends around 10-15 feet or so.
  2. If you are having a problem with Power Pro shoot me a PM with your email. I will send you a form to send in with the bad line so that we can test it. We will replace the line under warranty for you. We made many changes to the QC at Power Pro since our purchase to improve the quality of the product. I also suggest checking your guides and make sure there are no cracks or knicks causing the line to fray and possibly break. You should also retie like you would with mono. The knots can get weak or wear.
  3. The Calais 100A has HEG, its just not as large of gearing as the Core. It actually uses the same main gear as the CTE 100.
  4. Me too. Ipod with some speakers is easy.
  5. If this passes that means CA will be next :'( They are already trying to close our coast to fishing.
  6. Save yourself some money and buy some clear PVC glue at the hardware store. Its the same stuff that Mend It uses but they add acetone to it to make it easier to apply.
  7. Couldn't have seid it better myself RM. I used to laugh when we would get reels in for repair. They would have these high dollar ABEC 7 bearings in the reel. All the VBS brake weights would be on and the cast control caps tightened down. My record with freespool was a Curado 200BSF with stock SS bearings. It freespooled for 2:34 (with line on the spool). The spool hauled a** for way longer than the one in that video. I bet I could improve the reel in that video even further, but no one would be able to cast with it ;D Freespool really has nothing to do with castability. A heavy spool will spin longer than a light spool, but that light spool will outcast the heavy spool any time.
  8. You can use a non floating bait and add a few pieces of a toothpick inside the bait to help float it too.
  9. If you are getting a lot of shot bites then trim the legs. I thin the legs out more than I shorten them usually.
  10. I think everyone would be surprised if they knew how much JDM stuff originated in China, or most of the components came from China (such as rod blanks). A lure can be painted in China and have the hooks and packaging done in Japan and that lure will say made in Japan.
  11. I have no idea what model ours is. I know the thing is massive and very expensive. It is calibrated often. Like I said different scales. I see the same thing when reloading ammunition. The most accurate is still the beam type. Having a cell phone in your pocket is enough to change the readings on a digital scale.
  12. I like my camera and use it a lot. Its nice to see how fish postion on spots, to see of they are looking up or down and it wil show you that foot or so on the bottom that the graph doesn't. You can also find bands of clear or murky water down deep. I still want the new Lowrance 3D stuff, but the camera is a good tool in my arsenal.
  13. It could be the scale calibration or quality of the scale. Our scale shows the reel at 5.5 ounces or 155.9 grams. The spool weight bounced from 10.8-11 grams with the break weights. Either way the reel and spool are very light
  14. Are you using braided line? If so the line can be slipping on the spool if it was not properly backed.
  15. The spools will not interchange from the 50 to the 100 either. They are very different in dimensions.
  16. My buddy gave him bad feedback and the guy offered to refund his money + pay him extra money and let him keep the baits to remove the posts. My buddy left his posts up to warn others
  17. They work very well for me here in So-Cal on both fresh and saltwater species.
  18. I find that the bass in So-Cal get onto a night pattern when its warm like it is now. They also know what fishing pressure is during the day. At night typically there are no boats on the water and the fish feed better, or are less cautious. I night fish a lot and I firmly believe they bite better at night from now until fall. I have 6 fish over 10, all at night, from July through October plus lots of 7-9 pounders. The real good bite is from 10pm-3am either side of midnight lol
  19. My friend bought some of these. They are not LC baits. They are cheap knock offs. The weight is a different material and the beads are red plastic, not glass. The action isn't close to the same as a real LC. I would advise you not to buy them unless it doesn't bother you.
  20. So the drag on your Stradic lasted 10 years with no problems and now you're complaining about it? The multi element drag as you quoted is actually what it is. The washer uses Titanium fibers along with some other fibers. The drag plate is metal. This describes the multi elements. The FE model Stradics made enough drag for what they were designed for back in 1997.
  21. I throw my Hudds on 12-15# FC I have yet to break one off or lose a fish
  22. yep you're thinking correctly
  23. Fish the windy points and wind blow submerged brush. You should be able to get a spinnerbait fish or two
  24. The high modulous graphite can be brittle. Most breaks we have seen have been from either shipping related damage or damage to the rod (banged on the deck or dinged somehow). Our rods use a flex coating over the blank which will hide dings in the graphite. The graphite on the innerwalls can fracture if a rod is smacked into something. The flex coat will move back into the correct shape and not appear to be damaged. The rod will then fail at a later time. A truly bad blank (not damaged in shipping) will fail when it is first loaded, so usually the first trip it is used. A break 6 months down the line is usually from damage or being overloaded or high sticking/bouncing fish. If a rod breaks clean then that is a direct result of damage to the rod resuting in failure. If the rod end is flared like a funnel and/or broke into multiple pieces, then that broke do to overloading or just a bad blank. A lot of rods that come through here are broken clean like they were cut with a knife. Rod lockers tend to do a lot of damage too. I strongly suggest using rod socks on any high modulous rods. They do help protect the blank from damage. I have witnessed the rod testing machine shatter rods at the Loomis factory. You would be amazed how much pressure it really takes to break a rod. It took 21+ pounds to break a 6' UL (1-4 pound line) GLX rod. This is when the rod is lifted stright up so the rod is in a candy cane shape. I'm know heavier rods take less pressure because they bend less than a noodly UL trout rod.
  25. Contact the dealer where you bought the rod and see if they have one in stock to replace yours. If not then you will need to send the rod to us for warranty replacement, We will allow you to cut the rod in half to avoid oversized shipping charges.
