  1. If you were to drive far enough south, you have the c-1 and c-100 canals in the palmetto bay area. I personally have not caught 5+ lb peas as often as some of these other guys more north of me, but the canals down here are littered with 1-3lbers and cichlids.
  2. Cigar City jai lai Bells two hearted ale Sweetwater Ipa Sierra Nevada ipa Dogfish head 60 and 90 minute Funky buddy floridian Those are my usual go to drinks. I don't need more than 2 or 3 before I'm good and they are delicious imo. I'm always trying something new when I can. There's just too many beers out there!
  3. You know, I'm not exactly sure lol. I know they do tooling and tons of gse stuff. I start Tuesday morning so I'll let you know how it goes.
  4. Awesome to see everyone's back ground. I shipped collectibles for a small Internet based company for the past 6 years and worked my way up to supervisor....Yay. Super convenient, flexible, paid bills and hobbies. Now I start my new job/career next week for a company that is one of the largest suppliers of ground service equipment for aircraft in the world. I'm stoked.
  5. I played with the pocket sigs at the lgs some time back and the trigger was great but the manual of arms threw me off. I'm used to carrying striker fired (m&p shield and 9c) and didn't feel comfortable cocked and locked. I had a lcp custom and traded it to get my shield back because I felt more comfortable drawing from the hip than from the pocket. It was a great gun and the wider trigger felt much better than that plastic thing they had in the original version. Haven't tried the lcp 2 but I would give them a good look before writing them off. Note that the trigger reset is 2 clicks and very loooonngg. Imo.
  6. Iirc there are some rods in the dobyns and Phenix lineup that will cast light baits. I used a recon 2 682 paired with a curado 51e that had an avail 915 spool to throw 1/16 jigs to peacock bass before the bfs bug wore off. I used 10/2 braid with 6lb Floroclear Leader. In the end, I'm more efficient and accurate with spinning gear and don't have to fuss with backlashes and brakes though there is something about light baits and casting reels that kinda makes me want to get back into it...
  7. Awesome, thanks!
  8. Does anyone have experience with the Phenix elixir rods? They look great on the web but no one down here has them in shop. How do they compare to the Fenwick river runner? I'm looking for a 6'6 to 7' UL/F for jigs and hardbaits up to 1/8 or 3/16.

I got them in and went to the range once with them. Definitely quality fixed sights for sure. Still need to dial them in some but I'd recommend them 100%. I'll post some pics when I can.
  10. Love this bait. I use size 1 or 1/0 Ewg gammy.
  11. Check out Fenwicks offerings. I had a smallmouth 2 piece casting rod that was fantastic.
  12. My go to is a stradic 1000 fk with an avid x ml/f. Absolutely love that combo.
  13. Thanks guys. This will primarily be a "fun fishing" rod in the beginning and depending how I feel this time around, I may get something heavier. Smallish bass, pan fish and cichlids would be the target. I'm a light tackle junkie and have no issue feeling underpowered but where I would take this, it shouldn't be a problem. Im trying to spend up to $100 on a rod/reel/line combo. Not just on the line itself, lol. I don't want to end up with an ugly stick but I don't need a NRX either. Is my budget unrealistic?
  14. After seeing a couple fly fishing this afternoon, I've decided I want to give it another go. I had set my expectations too high when I tried it before, ended up disappointed and got rid of the gear. Now I have my eye on a couple outfits from cabelas but am curious what else it out there in the under $100 mark that isn't garbage. I plan on targeting panfish/cichlids and smaller bass. http://www.cabelas.com/product/cabela-s-three-forks-prestige-reg-plus-fly-combo/2196555.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffly-fishing-rod-reel-combos%2F_%2FN-1102570 http://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/fly-fishing/fly-fishing-rod-reel-combos|/pc/104793480/c/104721480/sc/105571980/cabela-s-wind-river-combo/1342342.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffly-fishing-rod-reel-combos%2F_%2FN-1102570
  15. Lol thanks We are meeting up with the in laws will be shore bound with what ever gear we bring. I believe they have bass gear as well so larger game fish and pier fishing may be out if the question. Are there any good spots without so much traffic? I'll be throwing some Gulp baits I have and some cut or live bait too. Anything else I should pick up?
  16. I'll be vacationing in the ormond beach area the week after next and was curious how the fishing is up there. I'll have a 7' m/f bass rod and will probably pick up a few saltwater lures but I'll be going in blind. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  17. Check Fenwick offerings. Their 2 piece rods are great.

Nice. They are going on my ar pistol that plays a HD role and needed something I can set, forget and not worry about bumping it into something and loosing my zero.

Thanks, I have them on order. Not planning on a red dot so it shouldn't be an issue.
  20. Awesome picture. I've cought some big ones but never consistently in my area. There is a YouTube guy who catches giants on a regular basis, or so it seems. They are so much fun in light tackle!
  21. Looking to replace my magpul buis with a set or fixed sights and keep coming back to this DD set. Anyone have experience with these or others? https://danieldefense.com/components-parts/fixed-front-rear-sight-combo.html
  22. I was told that the yumeya type a knobs will work with the new fk stradic. Not sure of the others. Might want to shoot them or one of their retailers an email to confirm.
  23. I got a forged Mega lower with a billet upper that needs attention. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it though. I'm in no rush.
