  1. Here's the one I'm using: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Advanced-Angler-Pro-Series-Tackle-Bags-without-Boxes/703224.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dtackle%2Bbag%26x%3D0%26y%3D0&Ntt=tackle+bag I have the BIG bag (the Super Magnum) for on the boat. But its the best bag I've ever used! They have several models, I'd check these out and they're even on sale right now!
  2. Ditto! I've given Berkley a shot this year on spinning gear. Its ok, IMO but will be switching back to XPS once I've used up what I have.
  3. Hmmm, not sure what you're talkin about Chris... Brian and I were out the other weekend and while the action was REALLY slow, we still had "soft" water to fish! No drilling holes! ;D As long as I have warm waters to fish over the next couple of months, I'm good to go! And hey, look at the bright side, the days are starting to get longer again!
  4. "Oh wait..... that's not Allan. It's Steve. STEVE!!!" LOL
  5. Only the ones in Louisiana! LOL!
  6. I have handled them in BPS but never fished the rods and they felt pretty light to me but as I said never fished one. I cant speak for them all Im talking about the 7'10MH crank bait rod. The shorter models are lighter im sure. This one tho is pretty heavy and like I said Balance is poor the rods very tip heavy with the Ringa on it but thats a pretty light reel weighing it at 7oz's so maybe a 8.0-9oz reel would help it from being so tip heavy. Its just not a rod I would want to fish all day lol. Interesting. I've handled the 7'10" a couple times now, the only reason I don't have that one is it won't fit in my truck. LOL! I do have the 7'4" model and really like it. Doesn't seem heavy to me. It is a little tip heavy but that doesn't bother me since I'm deep crankin with it and I keep the rod tip low. Maybe its just me with the weight.. On the other hand I am used to fishing mostly very light rods. I have a lot of steez sticks and as you know they are light so im more then sure that has something to do with it. Like I said im not trashing the rod by no means Just giving my opinion on it. That's fair. I will admit, I've used lower end rods in the past so part of it may be my past experiences as well. Doesn't help that I dabble with muskies from time to time. Chucking 3 and 4 ounce baits around can make just about any rod feel light as a feather. ;D
  7. Welcome to THE boards Dan! Please ask away! That's one of the reasons I created this thread! I've got to fish with a few of the guys that post on here! Great bunch of anglers! Thinking you'll be fishing waters a little farther east than I usually hit. Skim back through the thread, I'm sure there's a few guys that are close to ya that could point you in the right direction! Hey Texas, the PEPCO power plant in Dickerson has been talked about a good bit in this thread if I remember right. Its probably the main spot I hit during the colder months. Hellbender, glad to see you had a good last trip to B.H.! Sad to see it basically over too! Popped over at lunch today and saw a thin film of ice on the backwash area already. wv, that's a healthy looking bass! Good to see they're still doing well in there!

  9. Holy Cow! Big bait. Yeah, that shocked the crap out of me! Was fishing for musky at the time. Didn't get a weight on her but she was 24". Wasn't much of a fight on musky gear. LOL!
  10. I have 3 baits that I've caught walleye on. Bandit 100 series cranks, Smithwick Rattlin Rogues and a Drifter 10" Jointed Believer.
  11. It should prove interesting trying one! That indian purple coffee that I tried, the instant I bit into it I immediately got the hick-ups. I hadn't even tasted it at that point either. LOL!
  12. Interesting.... I've had the ghost and the indian purple coffee before, might have to give this one a shot! ;D
  13. LOL! Tell me about it! I'm not sure what was better, the facial expression that Kevin had while his head was bobbing around or Denny moving like that! ;D
  14. Never pike but I've had one tiger musky (guessing mid to upper 40 inch range) take a 1/2oz trap while fishing for largemouth. Surprisingly, I actually fought it for about 5 minutes or so before she cut me off. It was fun while it lasted.
  15. This one cracked me up! http://sendables.jibjab.com/view/esAPdXM6F225Vz4Yrimm
  16. I had the same issue minus the headache. Was pulling some loooong hours at work and was drinkin them pretty regularly to get through the days. The one morning, I got the irregular heartbeat and haven't touched them since then. Like Hammer4, I loved the taste of them too.
  17. Props for drinking the PA swill!!! I love ABC. There is one near me with a restaurant attached to it. Every Thursday, we make our way over there. They have something called the Mug Club that we all joined about 5 years ago. They keep a personalized mug in the bar for you. In 5 years time, I have tried all their offerings. Personal favorites (I dont know how readily available they are away from our immediate area): Grinnin' Grizzly (November Specialty) Kipona Fest (August Specialty) Riverside Red (April Specialty) Zoigl Star (January Specialty) 666 (2009 winner of their "home brew" contest, has become a small batch production beer) Year-round favorites are the Susquehanna Stout and Pennypacker Porter If you get your hands on any of these, you will be pleased. If you NoVA fellas come up to fish sometime, we can hit up the restaurant. I can also bring some if we ever get a trip together. Just let me know. You must take me to this place I think theres an ABC in Harrisburg, but I have never stopped in. There's a Yuengling factory up near Cabela's, great tour there! Yep, there's one in Harrisburg. I've been there a few times. Good stuff right there! Speed, you have another tag-a-long when you take Nate to the one near you! ;D
  18. Hey wv, Here's how to get to the power plant at Williamsport. Head down like you're going to the boat ramp and make that left after the bridge that takes you back to the power plant entrance. All you need to do is park right outside the gate there on the right. Just to the back side of the fence, you'll see a little path that leads right back behind the power plant. Take it and it'll lead you right down to where the discharge dumps into the Potomac. I've never had any issues there (except for getting too crowded to fish). The fish commission will even stop in to check licenses and ask how fishing is so it's definitely ok to be there and fish. I didn't have much luck there last winter. A handful of rock bass is all I really remember. The smallies I have caught in there were never anything to brag about but at times (when the warm water is flowing), the numbers are there to make it at least fun. I have taken the boat out in November and December before on the Potomac. I usually put in at Snyders when I do (just the part of the Potomac I'm most familiar with) for a mixed bag of fishing. Mostly pick up a couple smallies and some walleye in there. The Dickerson power plant (PEPCO) is the other spot I'll hit in the winter. It's a little hike (both the drive down there and the walk up to where the discharge is) but it can be well worth the effort if you get there at the right time. Smallies, largemouth, crappie, bluegill, rock bass, walleye and even an occasional catfish are all that I've caught in there. That place can get pretty crowded too. Seems the earlier I get there and the nastier the weather is, the less people I run into which makes it nice since there have been times that I felt like it was the opening day of trout season and I barely had any place to fish the way I like. Hope that helps you out some! If you have any questions, let me know and I'll help you out the best I can!
  19. I remember a few years back, Hart came out with a Quad buzzbait that did have 2 blades on each arm. They were a smaller size blade that what comes on the Hartbeater though. I have one of those somewhere, I hardly ever throw it.
  20. Brian and I got out over the week. We decided on hitting Big Pool. Some goofball (me) forgot my fish finder so wasn't able to get a water temp reading and had to go off memory on finding the drop offs n' such. We about about 15-16 or so on a bunch of different baits. Cranks, jerkbaits, lipless cranks, jigs and spinnerbaits (I know I'm missing a bait or 2 Brian, please chime in!). We weren't able to find any of the big girls in there this time but sure had fun! Thanks for getting out with me Brian!
  21. Thanks for the river report Allen! While I didn't wet a line, my daughter and I went for a bike ride on the C&O toe path. River looked really low and like you mentioned, I didn't see any grass. Saw several boats and wished I was close enough to get a report from them but no luck there.
  22. Cool deal TexasNovice! I recognize the area you're fishing and had half a idea to try there at lunch today. I call that area dead squirrel. LOL! One of the guys that works for me named it and for some strange reason, it stuck. I did fish "the tubes" today at lunch and managed one dink on a spinnerbait! Spring through early fall I don't mind fishing the high muddy water in the river. Most of the time, I fish it from shore. I'll look for eddies and current breaks and have done well in the past with tubes and stick baits (senko style worms) in those areas. The gauge I track, the level only got about 3' above normal so hit didn't get real high. It's actually back down below normal again. :-/ Hope that helps some!
  23. Congrats TexasNovice! Way to go!
  24. LOL! You should have known that one was coming! All I know is when I pick the place when you pick the place when we go fishing, I catch fish! ;D
  25. Hey TexasNovice, Welcome to THE boards! If you've taken Brian's suggestion and looked back through this thread, you've found a little info about Black Hills (if you've read my posts lately I haven't been out much lately so can't help much there. :-[ The place with the best selection close to you would have to be Dick's. The next best place that I know of would be Bass Pro. But most of my tackle shopping is done on-line at Tackle Warehouse! Oh, I do have one tip for ya! If you meet up with Brian to fish with him, make sure that HE picks the spot that you guys go to! ;D ;D ;D
