  1. I've had the privilage to fish with tuxdad, mjhutch1116, jake and basschamp35 already and had a blast with all of them! My feelings pretty much echo LBH's. Who would I fish with? Anyone on the boards! Like I've said before, this is the best site on the net with a great bunch of anglers!
  2. While I personally haven't tried it yet! A family that owns a farm pond I fish uses foot long hot dogs, wacky rigged of course! Believe it or not, the biggest bass they have caught on that rig was 28"! And that is a pond here in MD!
  3. MD's legal keeper size is 12". When I reference keepers, it's usually how many I'd be able to keep in a tourney. Like others have said, small keepers are ok, but 4 pounds and up...... that's where it starts getting fun! ;D
  4. I've caught two bass on crankbaits and one (this year) on a Strike King Rocket Shad while smallie fishing!
  5. Hey bass_finder, Welcome to the boards! Early morning, I like to go with search baits. Top waters being the first this time of year. If the top water bite isn't on, I'll go with a spinnerbait or a lipless crankbait. Hope this helps!
  6. I have one of BPS' lure retrievers and used it several times this weekend. I saved two deep diving cranks and a chatterbait. More than paid for itself in just that one outing! Well worth the price IMO!
  7. Welcome to the boards fulltilt! Three baits come to mind. 1 would be t-rigged tube pitched into pockets in the grass (with a light weight bullet weight) or go heavy on the bullet weight and punch down through the thickest stuff you can find! The second would be a weightless t-rigged trick worm either worked on top or just under the surface. The third would be a buzzfrog bait. If I were to use a spinnerbait, I would opt for a 3/16oz in either a single or double williowleaf worked fairly fast (using it as a search bait for aggressive bass). Hope this helps!
  8. Hey senko77, I believe rocknfish9001 is referring to a state's master award program. Pfunk achieved this in VA this year. From what I know about MD's program, you have to get seveal citations in several species to be awarded the Master Angler award for the year. Since I fish for bass and musky, I can't achieve MD's Master Angler. So far this year, I only have one citation for my PB bass back in April. One other note, MD's citations are awarded by length not weight.
  9. Hmmmmmm, nope! Nothing to wearing the same shirt for your PB My first 5 pounder. My newest PB. While slightly faded : it is the same shirt and I should also add both were caught on the same color spinnerbait. Do I believe in lucky shirts? Nah! LOL!
  10. Hey Guys, Thanks for responding! I understand there are a ton of variables that account for higher and lower numbers! I do fish year round here in MD, I have two warm water discharge areas I can hit in the "cold weather" months. Despite getting my PB earlier on this year, I'm a little disappointed with my numbers so far, but I'm working on it! Any other replies would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey bigtex, I caught what you said in your other post and that's why I posted what I did there. "I fish a farm pond from time to time that has some really big bass! Some are close to double digits, which is good for MD. However, there are a lot of smaller bass in this same pond and the owner thinks its over populated. So they asked my fishing partner and I to remove some of the smaller bass (well after the spawn) to help fatten up the bigger ones". Not an exact quote, but that was the jist of it. I grew up eating bass because that's how I was raised. So I can understand keeping some from a small private pond. Its been years since I've kept any bass (just started fishing this private pond last year so my partner and I haven't started harvesting any bass there yet). I am another that won't keep any bass from public waters. As others have said, as long as you are keeping any fish within your state's laws. By all means, keep some if you like!
  12. How many bass have you caught so far? I'm just trying to get a feel on how I'm doing so far this year. I'm two away from 100 and just wondering where everyone else is that's keeping track. Thanks for your input!
  13. That's the first time I've seen that with two bass! Unreal. The closest I've seen is a 43" musky with a 10lb carp in it's mouth.
  14. As the others have said, you owned up and apologized shows the character you have! Now, let's hear some good fishing stories or questions!!!
  15. Hold on! How the heck did you guys get your June bassmaster already??? :-? Must be nice! LOL! I probably won't see mine for another week. Did I win any thing in the June one? hahaha!
  16. I've caught a few on them fished weightless t-rigged but last fall I started wacky rigging them and have had decent luck! I had to force myself to give them a try and only took one rod and Senkos.
  17. 5lbs 12ozs (my PB) that was caught on a spinnerbait caught in early april.

Since Avid appointed himself President, I'd like to nominate myself as Treasurer! ;D Show me da money! I'll take on the Bait Monkey then!
  20. Great post Madhouse! He nailed it! Take your time, and it will come to you! Trying to master too much at a time will confuse even a more experienced angler (there are exceptions to the rule though)! My two confidence baits are spinnerbaits and tubes but will use a few other baits that I've worked with in the past when the conditions tell me to. I've set a goal this year to become better with cranks and jigs. Pick out the few techniques you feel most confident in, read up one those (the articles on here will help!) and if you have any specific questions, ask away! Everyone on here are always willing to help when they can! Good luck and welcome to the boards!!!

And here I thought winter was the time to hit warm water discharge areas!!! It's never too cold unless the water freezes solid on the guides! ;D
  22. Hey Diversified, Welcome to the boards! As the rest have said, read the articles! They're a great place to start! And of course, if you have any specific questions, don't be shy! Ask away!!!
  23. Another fan of the Gerber here! You can't beat the scissors on that hand tool!
  24. Blame you Raul? You should be commended for identifying that little creature! That's one part of the puzzle solved! Now we just have to try and figure out how to control him! But that will take many many years before that can be accomplished and by that time, he'll evolve into some else even more deadly! ;D
  25. God bless and thank you for all you do! Have a safe trip home and wet some line! You deserve it!!!
