How to keep a bass from jumping?
Yet another vote for the low rod tip! If I'm bank fishing, I keep the rod tip no higher than my knees, lower if possible! As fluke and RR stated putting the rod tip down in the water works real well! I've had my 7'6" flippin stick down in the water all but to the reel. It's saved me several times on crankbaits and ratltraps too!

Do you wear eye protection while you fish ???
Thinkin back to the large musky treble hook I had buried in two of my fingers, Chris' post gave me the willies thinkin about that! But Man, when I got to Raul's post, DANG that was nasty! During the day, I all but always wear sun glasses, but when it turns evening/dark, I'm without. Think I may have to invest in some type of eye wear for those occasions! Better safe than sorry!

Corn kills fish?
I grew up fishing in PA for trout with my Dad. Corn was one of 4 baits we'd use for them. I've never heard of it being harmful to them.

What happened to this lake??
Welcome to the boards! Can you tell us a little more about the lake? How deep? Any grass? Other structure or cover? That may help us out in helping you!

What gets you out on the water?
'97 1668 Dakota (made by Polarcraft) jon boat with a '75 15HP Evinrude and a 43# Motorguide TM on the front. I bought my boat "plain jane" and added decks, a livewell and all the toys! It's a great little river boat and works well on the electric only lakes I fish.

your choice of lure?
Different anglers have different strengths! So no one answer is every the absolute "right" one! For me, I'd thow a spinnerbait waking it. If that didn't produce, I'd go to a white buzzbait or a Spook or Spittin Image.

Fishing Falling Off!!! AHHH
To go with the hook set, what rod are you using? I like to use a rod with some backbone. Mine is a 7' MH action rod spooled up with a low stretch mono.

are bass cannibals?
I'm not going against this group! LOL! Yep, they sure are! One of my go-to baits during the post spawn is a baby bass colored spinnerbait! Great examples LR and Captain! 8-) Avid, ROFLMAO! ;D

Hey CoRy, You can use the seach box at the top of the page to make your searches a little quicker. Here's one I think you'd find interesting. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1153406475/53#53

The case of the disappearing trailer hook?
While I've never had it happen when I use to attach the trailer hooks that way, I have to agree with flechero on this one. The tubing more than likely tore and the bass turned just the right way (like they usually do for me) and threw the bait while keepiing the trailer hook. I put the trailer hook on and then put a peice of tubing on the hook so to keep the hook from coming off but allowing it to swing more freely.

Fishing fix during winter?
This is an easy one for me. I fish year round. I don't ice fish either (had one experienced that just freaked me out and haven't been back out there since). I have two warm water discharge areas on the upper Potomac from coal burning power plants. Its good for smallies and an occasional largemouth. So as long as I can keep the ice off the guides, I'm good to go!

Where do you fish?
Another MD angler here. I was born and raised in PA and practically lived on the river and fished a few small lakes. Moved to MD and fish a mixed bag of waters. Everything from the upper Potomac, to medium sized lakes (around 500 acres), to smaller lakes and even smaller ponds. While growing up, smallies were my thing, largemouths have definitely become my passion!

Hot weather, fishing stratagies???
Two techniques that have been working for me, here in MD, is fishing creature baits with heavy weight t-rigged. I'm making a rainbow cast, getting some height on the cast so the bait punches down through the vegatation. When it gets closer to sunset, I go to a wacky rigged Senko style worm, working it slow on top of the grass.

The ghost hook and premature-a-hookulation.
A question comes to mind when I read your post PARROTHEAD_VOL, Are you setting the hook on a top water bite or are they sub-surface? If it's a surface bite, and I know its hard, but wait until you feel it in the rod not at the sound. I'm with fivebass as well. Different techniques require a different hook sets. Fortunately, I've only launch one bass out of the water (so far, LOL!). I was fishing a farm pond that has some huge bass in it. I was flippin tubes around some reeds when I felt a THUMP! The rod got super heavy and I dropped the bomb on it, thinkin it was a good one! Ends up, this little dink thought he was a monster until I put the bass on the bank on the hookset! My fishing partner just looked at me and laughed. He still brings that up every once in a while.

Anyone Else Fish at Lunch?
I have a lake that's 10 minutes from work and a boss that doesn't mind if I'm a little late getting back (if the bass are biting!). A week or two back, I landed a 4 pounder at lunch! Nothing clears the mind for the second half of the day like a bass or two at lunch!!!!! ;D
