  1. Try your local tackle stores first. You won't be in the "name" stores unless they come to you. Local stuff is better. As mentioned before, make a webstore and you can call your own shots.
  2. X2 Back it up with a Speed trap.
  3. The article suggests fishing the Senko like a fluke. Anyone had any luck doing that? Absolutely! Oh, wait, heck no, don't ever try that. waste of time! :
  4. Pop-Rs are good, and you may also try a floating rapala. Pull it about a foot, then pause long enough for it to surface, then repeat. That will catch every fish that swims. My wife has kicked my butt with this too many times.
  5. you can get one of those battery operated soldering iron. They are not very big, about the size of a fat sharpie. The tip gets hot enough to do the melting and it is a lot more controlable than a flame. And it works when it is windy!
  6. Like Chris and FBL said, it is probably the line cause it has no stretch. Try a 12# mono and you should see better results. Also, try to net or grab the fish instead of swinging them. Puts a little too much presure on the fishes mouth with the treble hooks.
  7. Same here as far as right handed and left reelin'. Like stated before, Just seems awkward to switch back and forth. Saves time and you are ready for whenever that fish is ready. The reason I started is for flippin' and pitchin'. Now everything gets done this way.
  8. You could try a red sharpie. Reapply when needed.
  9. Awe man! you let that one out of the bag!
  10. absolutly! Shove a foam earplug inside and it'll float!
  11. been there a few times. Always did good with trick worms and senkos around the weed edges. Throw in some tubes and small jigs and you should do fine. Try the humps in the north end for some smallies.

I use milk crates to store my planos in the back of the truck on long trips. Say you want to take a lot with you and don't have room in the boat. Easy to take into the motel room and organize.
  13. So where is it at now? Did it make it to the roadtrip?
  14. I will second everything you said!
  15. What? No love for the Gman? Come on people! 1. Gman 2. Denny 3. KVD 4. Nixon 5. Todd Auten
  16. Those look great ID. Especially for the first ones! good job.
  17. I don't want to hear it! last count, 36 rods, 31 reels and a tackle ROOM! Thats not a joke. a room! Does it all go with me every time? heck no! do I need it al? heck no! am I glad I have it? Oh Yeah! He who dies with the most toys wins!
  18. Goby baits work in all kinds of water. I fish them all over this stae and have caught some good fish on them. Usually on a jighead or dropshot
  19. The excalibur "spit in image". Had a fish cloe to 4# hammer it when it hit the water, only to lose it half way back to the bost, lure and all. The fish proceeded to haunt me for probably 10 min by jumpin all over the place, with my lure still in it's mouth. Didn't know what ticked me off more, losing the bait or the fact it was stuck in the fishes mouth.

This is my first try at painting baits. Did it with rattle cans. What do ya think? http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt226/zbasser/baits/cranks/3-11-09003.jpg

Hey jake, Definatley know where waterloo/waverly is. Been to shell rock many times as a kid. Welcome to the forum and nice to have another hawkeye. Z
  24. I use a 3/0 or 4/0 BMFH. That big mother flippin' hook made by RI, same as the beaver. Put a little shrink tube on where the lure keeper barbs are and trim it off so that you have a piece that comes off the shank at an angle to help hole the bait in place. Thought there was another thread on this but can not find it. A far as the weight goes, if it is in heavy cover I peg the weight. If it is in more open water or light cover, I don't peg it. Hope that helps.
