Color isn't that important, but I do still tend to go with Black/blue jigs with rattles and a Lobster, and big ole 10" Anaconda in Red Bug. Also, never fish at night without throwing a Rage Shad!

Um, nope. Tough day today with the front and the wind. Got out for a couple hours with NHBassmaster2, but didn't catch squat, except a stupid pickerel. I wonder if NHbassin had any better luck. He was out there today, too.

Hey, Jinx, in that spot you are standing in in that picture, cast a 3/8oz keel-weighted Rage Craw (Falcon Lake Craw color) out as far as you can ,and to your 1:00 position. There's a hole you will drift over that holds schools of smallies all summer long. There's also a shopping cart that you will lose at least a bait or two on.

While there are many rigging options for the Rage Craw, the most popular, is the good ole Tx rig, usually with a weight (either pegged or un-pegged). 50 degrees is right about when shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, and swim jigs start to shine. 55, and it really gets good. Most important thing to do, is find the baitfish. Once you do that, then determine fast or slow, and top, mid, or bottom baits. At 50, the first thing I would probably throw, would be a jig with a big, high action trailer. If they wan't it faster, or more swimming, then go to a swim jig, keel-weighted Craw, or spinnerbait.

You wanna know where that 9 came from? Turtle. I was just thinking about protecting the spawn, but figured I would share.That day, I just figured out how the bigger fish were eating, and was in the right place at the right time, with the right offering. The place is so over fished, it's nuts, and I would have died of laughter if someone ever told me there was a 9 living in there. I would just expect anyone here who fishes there, to respect what we have there, and not stress out the big fish by keeping them out of water. That fish recuuped in my live well for 20 minutes with "Please release me" additive before I took pics, and then released into the exact spot, so she could do what she was doin'. That fish, and the 7-2 I caught the same day, need to spawn.

Either way, Deak. Two weeks, and we should hit it. There's bigger fish in Cobbets.

That place is like 50 different lakes that are connected. Awesome fishing, even though my biggest smallie from there is 4lbs, there are so many 3's, it'll wear you out. I don't hardly fish it anymore, because the traffic. Congrats on the first one of the year!
