  1. Can I sign up? Oh wait. I already did. This is going to be one amazing event, I can't wait!

I'm with ya, Fat G! I fish with swim jigs A LOT!! They've been killer for me with Baby Craws on 'em! I actually use (and like), the KVD one in bluegill color, with a Candy Craw or Watermelon Red trailer. I don't even know how many fish I caught on that combo last year.
  3. Of course! Flip and pitch that baby all day long! That's what I'm doing with it half the time. I've used the keel weighted hooks on Craws, Lobsters, Space Monkeys, Smokin' Roosters, and Anacondas. I switch from swimming it, to slow rolling weed edges and tops, to hopping and dragging on bottom like a jig. This actually has to be my current favorite method.
  4. That is a sad story, I really feel for you. On a brighter note, you can definitely turn this into a positive.
  5. Heck of a nice fish right there, bflow.
  6. Welcome, CLR! This is the spot for info, for sure! I can't personally help you on that lake, but there's a couple guys that fish there regularly, and I'm sure they'll chime in with something for ya! Hang around, and be sure to let us know how you do.
  7. Nice job everyone! Love it! Ps- LOOOve the Rooster!!!
  8. That's what I was hoping for, Wayne. Thanks.
  9. I'll be at Briary in two weeks, so hopefully the action is picking up down there. I'm expecting to find prespawn fish with swim jigs, maybe?
  10. The topwater action really heats up when the water temps hit the 50's, but what the heck, just start trying it whenever, and maybe be surprised with a big ole topwater blowup! Fish are funny sometimes, and they break their own rules.
  11. Nice job, ETB! The swim jig is a favorite of mine.
  12. I'm with BobP. Quality and cheap do not go in the same sentence.
  13. Just got my Shimano Cumara 6'8" med xfast drop shot rod, and paired it up with my new Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500 reel from TW. I am in LOVE with this combo!
  14. Got out on the river today for a little cold front action. The water is high and muddy with the North country finally getting their spring thaw. Today I found the fish to be up in the newly flooded areas, stacked in the bushes, and just waiting for my Falcon Lake Rage Craws to swim on by. Got 17 total in about 3 hours, and it was great!
  15. Yeah, the Crucial is waaay more sensitive than the Vendetta (and like half the weight), but it's also twice the price. If you can do it, then I would for sure, but if not, check out the Shimano Compre for just a few more bucks. It's a great rod for the money. Going to a 7 footer is a good idea, too.
  16. Aw, that sucks! That was a big fish. Hate to see that.
  17. Football jig with Falcon Lake Rage Craws! Smallies gobble 'em up!
  18. I'll be in Va that weekend, fishing Briary Creek Lake, and getting things ready for the Reel American Heroes Foundation tournament on May 21st and 22nd on the Potomac.
  19. Well, I'm officially not gonna make this one. The Easter egg hunt for my son and his cousins has been moved from Sunday to Saturday at 2:00. Not happy. Have fun, guys. Sorry I can't make it.
  20. I got out today with my buddy for his first outing of the year, and we absolutely slayed the smallies! We left my house early when it was still pouring rain sideways, but we didn't care once we started hammering the chunk smallmouths.
  21. WOW! What a first smallie! That is beautiful!
  22. Two words, Derek. Drop Shot. Money when it's tough like now. Find warmer water, and you might get 'em on a swim jig, spinnerbait, or jig, but if not, stick to the small, slow stuff.
  23. Yeah, I guess another vote for Stumpfield from me for this get together.

Have fun in smallie country, Steve!
