Whoo-Hoo! Broncos Rule!
More than likely Tebow's plays are called in from the sidelines. Not many QB's call their plays anymore, except for a few audibles, I can think of Peyton Manning and that's it.

So you're saying he fishes the right way......

How long are you going for? Maybe your friend has an extra outfit, save the hassle and the money.

Figuring Reel Capacity.
Eyeball and be done with it, no reason to spend a lot of time on 5 minute task. Not that I would consider this, would be to measure the depth of the spool, mark the halfway point, then fill with backing to that point. Or just go braid all the way, I never use backing.

What Is This Thing?
Can't read the printing, but try googling it...........it does look like the bottom of a spinning reel.

Go Niners!
Green Bay was a flat as they could be, whether it had anything to do with the death of Philbin's son, I don't know........but he is interviewing with Kansas City and Miami. 49's and Saints was as good a game as I've seen in a very long time. In the end I like San Fran and N.E, I never bet against Brady.

Buy an outfit up there and go striper fishing, do something you don't normally do. You can use the same outfit here for snook and tarpon

New Sterling Bass Boat Or A New Ranger Z522?

Matching Hook Size To Bait
I pretty much agree, I use eagle claws from Walmart 4/0 worm and ewg and hardly every change them. I use eagle claws 4/0 circle hooks offshore in the ocean and they work just fine.

Inspiration From The Heart
A touching article, says it all for me. A few weeks ago a player on the opposing team was hurt, as the trainers were awaiting the cart to take the player to the dressing room Tebow was there waiting with them and whispering words of encouragement to the player. He's a class act, a real mensch!

The Coming Florida Spawn
Last year both snook and jacks up to about 10# were on in January, but not this year. I don't give up, that's what I like the best. People that don't fish saltwater think there is a fish on every cast, nothing could be further from the truth. This time of the year there is just no fish around, I can go a week or 2 without a strike. I casted cuda tubes for 2 days and didn't even see one. The old adage, when the snook turn off the bass turn on and when the bass turn off the snook turn on, makes for a good year.

Alabama Rig
I agree with Fishing Rhino 100%, I've used umbrella rigs for stripers and it's certainly not sportfishing. I use12/0 limerick hooks to make up my barracuda tubes, which are offshoots of striper rigs. Catching 2 or 3 15# bluefish on an umbrella rig would be quite a feat. A double fluke rig does not have to be used with a heavier rod, less weight and less water resistance. I substitute a fly for the top fluke, we call it a drop fly rig and use it for snook and tarpon. Cuda tube

When Is Med Lt Spinning Rod A Mh?
There is no industry standards. The line and lure weights imo are only a guideline, very normal for me to throw lighter or heavier lures than the numbers on the rod. Say I have 2 rods, both rated max 3/4, one rod may easily handle 1oz while the other doesn't. The main downside I have experienced in tossing lures a little too heavy is a sore back. Rods like this generally aren't using for casting, not that couldn't be used for that but they would be a little awkward. I have Redbone boat rod 15-30, I also have a Redbone 15-30 spinning rod, the design of the foregrip and rear butt are totally different ( cork, not evo as in the boat rod) than the boat rod and very comfortable for repetitive casting. I'm not so sure they use the same blanks either but I don't know.

Pan Fry Bass Fillets...
As Lund says all oils are not created equal. For pan frying fish I prefer a vegetable oil, my favorite is peanut oil, it gets real hot, I do not like olive oil for frying fish, doesn't get hot enough. Let the oil get hot before you add the fish, don't let the oil get hot with the fish already in the pan, your fish will sear better and won't absorb as much oil, I want to taste the fish, not be overpowered by the oil. This is personal but I prefer a light breading instead of batter, flour, ryekrisp and matzoh meal is an excellent breading.

Looking For A Spinning Rod In The $50-$100 Range For My
You might be over rating me a bit, but I do own some of these rods. First questions I would ask is what do you plan on catching with your new combo, average size of your target species, location boat or pond or high banked canal, is there a lot of vegetation. You want to put a 10.4 oz reel on a ml rod, I wouldn't do that, I'd go with a med 6/12 or med 8/17, probably 7', giving the nod to the 8/17. You can handle just about anything you're going to come across and employ a variety of techniques, in other words an all purpose outfit. I wouldn't worry about warranty for a rod under a $100, hardly worth to send them back, but over the counter is ideal. As far as med rods on your list: Redbone, I use mine ( have 6 of them) in salt, excellent, but I prefer a rod with a longer butt. Star steller lite, good line of rods, I have a mh and heavy, have never looked at their mediums. Tsunami airwave, mine is 8' but I have good friend that has a 7 med and uses it for sw as well as bass, I liked his so I bought mine and it's pretty good, great casting distance. It's split handle, unless you can see it in person as I did, I wouldn't buy it on line, in fact I wouldn't buy any rod on line. I have a Calico Jack 8/17 which is my main bass rod, younger brother of the Redbone but with a longer butt, I love this rod. I also have an older Clarus 6'6 6/12 rod that I use for ponds, fishes like a ml, I like it for what I use it for. Wish I could be more help but I don't like to give recommendations, I would feel reel bad if you bought some thing on my recommendation and didn't like it.

Wow
If this is as bad as it gets then you are way ahead of the game. Bad fortune may be getting a call to take your wife or kids to the hospital, won't tell ya the outcome. Bad fortune may be getting a call from your biggest account to see them asap, won't tell ya the outcome.

Patriot Cheerleaders Or Just Your Typical New England Fan?
I'm just going to enjoy the game, but I'm pulling for Tebow.............and I've always been a big Brady fan.

Help Me Decide, Sahara, Syemetre, Or The Diawa Exceler
I see lots of ugly sticks used for various types of saltwater fishing, that coupled with a Penn reel is probably the most popular. However your emphasis seems to be more on bass fishing with the occasional saltwater outing, I don't think an ugly stick is the best choice. A stradic deserves a better rod and there is a lot to choose from at a reasonable price. All that being said I use an inshore saltwater rod for my bass fishing and I could easily use this outfit in the surf as well (rod was only $54).

Smart Phones
@ shad_master I'll give you a tip as to understanding anything, whether it be phones, computers, cameras, etc............learn the vocabulary. An example is when I got my first 35mm camera in the early 50's, I had no idea of the terms, like f-stop, shutter speed, bulb exposure, depth of field, etc.( keeping it easy so you get the idea), Once I understood the vocabulary of the product, the operation became much easier. I still don't know why I need to root my smart phone.......lol, the 12 year olds have a better comprehension of that than I do.

Hardly a senior alive that isn't on some kind of medication, everyone I know( including me) uses medicine vials for something fishing related.

The Coming Florida Spawn
Hard fishing? Have had a total of 2 fish in saltwater since the New Year and no strikes for about a week, I haven't talked to anyone that has done better in my area, but that's winter and not unusual. Real glad to be catching bass everyday, at least the rod is bending.
