  1. Browning is the only bag I have owned that the zippers didn't fail, also well built.
  2. Electric reels are common down here for swordfish fishing, I've never used one but have seen them many times.
  3. I never had the desire to throw 5 oz lures because of the rod needed to handle those lures. For a 20# fish especially from a boat I prefer a 10-20 rod and lighter baits, more comfortable for me. I was tossing 1 1/2-2 oz on a 10-25 rod rated up 3 oz yesterday offshore and I'm not liking that anymore, trimming back to a 10-20, although the extra spine did come in handy for amberjacks.
  4. Difficult to do photo justice while shore fishing so I seldom have camera or phone with me, holding a fish at arm's length just doesn't do it. Offshore when we hook up it's common that everyone is hooking up at the same time so taking pictures its tough, a bit of chaos going on. I usually have a camera with me but don't even think about taking out until it's too late.
  5. Been on a pretty good roll lately with number of solid bass, not too mention some really nice barracuda. Tuesday afternoon I hit up my canal, catch a few dinks and a hard hitting 4-5# bass comes way, ok. Go home have dinner and about 6PM I go back to the canal and not much was going, then at about my last cast I get hit on with a bass that probably was double digits, needless to say I was damned pleased. Now the fun is just starting, out with my offshore homeboys Wed. morning and only 10 minutes of fishing I hook in a sailfish that nearly spooled me on my Soron 60 and Redbone boat rod, along boatside we release it to be caught another day. Then a 30# kingfish, smaller king and finally amberjacks, the hardest fighters of all, I go one and lost a few. This guy has one tired right arm after handling all those fish, but I guarantee I'll be out again tomorrow.
  6. As far as I'm concerned fishing is an activity whether it be competitive or recreational. It's no more demanding on the body than being a bank teller or market cashier. Many of those people work injured as well, bad backs, carpal tunnel not to mention the stress they deal with for a whole lot less $$. Who is to say the injuries some have are even due to fishing, I wake up with a different ache and pain everyday and I fish 7 days a week too, I must be an athlete..........HARDLY . I can't be convinced otherwise, I think the aforementioned definition needs revision.
  7. I wouldn't begin to make a recommendation to anyone without actually being there. One of my neighbors is a charter captain, but never fished bass before and was struggling, I thought I knew why. I gave him a better suited rod and reel, the right bait for the situation and showed him how to work it, within minutes he's killing them.
  8. As far as I'm concerned fishing is fishing no matter where you are doing it. My saltwater inshore fishing has made me a more product freshwater fisherman because I eliminate all the ***, 1 rod, 1 or 2 lures and just go fish. It's all about putting your time in and being in the right place at the right time, when they are on they are on and when off, just enjoy the day and don't take it personal.
  9. Couple weeks ago after a constructive comment from RW I kept on fishing for Bass, in addition to my normal quarry. In the last 2 weeks or so I've caught no less than 10 6+# fish 2 of them were 8-10 range, 2 this just this morning around 6 each( caught 2 snook too ), all from shore.
  10. Nice looking fish, even thought they are only " green".........but so are dolphin, lol.
  11. Based on recent posts it seems as though you have a an easy, simple system in place already, I wouldn't change it. Live baits usually will out catch artificial 5 or 10 to 1, the hardest part is catching the bait. Been fishing down here for 30 years, the last 6 almost every single day, used live bait once. Few seconds with a sabiki, herring on line, 20# snook all in less than 10 minutes, never used live bait again. I love those fish you are catching, I'd really like to see a video of you catching one on micro lite using a plug, that would be real interesting.
  12. Went 2 for 4 this morning at the inlet, then a bass kicker on the way home.
  13. My catch rate seems to be the same with any popper, I love them. I liked my skitter pop until i had a bluefish bite it almost in half, last one I owned, haven't seen them on sale lol. Mirror lure pappa dog pops and walks, great bait. caught a 10 ponder on a blaze popper a couple of weeks ago. My #1, from cuda to bass and eveything in between, ebay 3 for 6 bux.....still catching fish, haven't gotten around to changing the rear treb.
  14. U.S. Imports very little oil from Libya, Canada & Mexico lead the way on oil exports to the U.S., Saudi Arabia #3. Most points of view I've heard are not along party lines, it's about finacing, whether the military is strong enough to handle a 3 rd war and the moral conviction. This is not a politacal statement it's fact, the Prez cannot authorize troops to fight anywhere without congressional approval, unless we have been attacked or are in iminent danger, neither is reality
  15. Hair today, gone tomorrow.
  16. I bassfished with Norm Brook yesterday afternoon and I asked him about eels. Live eels are not his preference as he made the comparison to " deadsticking", too boring and no challenge was his assessment. He likes artificial only for stripers, spoons, tubes, most any lure and umbrella rigs. Norm and I feel the same about this, live bait is only used when all else fails, his exception are his paying customers who just want to catch fish.
  17. I use the same exact rod I use for inshore fishing, 7' med 8/17 spinning rod fast tip, 15# braid, mono leader( leader still will wrap around the hooks once in a while, but no big deal)
  18. I have caught many stripers, in addition I fish with Stu Tinney who is one of the leading experts on fresh water stripers and Norm Brook who is a charter Captain from New Jersey, one of my snow bird friends, I hear lots of info about stripers. Stripers are just like snook, will hit about anything a LMB will, in fact they call snook salt water LMB. You seem to be overlooking eels, one of the most prolific striper baits. If live is unavailable artificials are for sale, I think Storm makes them, I make my own out of surgical tubes. A fisherman out of Maryland at one time was making and selling tubes for stripers, they caught on and soon was discovered they were barracuda magnets, some companies like Sea Striker market the tubes as "Cuda Tubes".http://www.seastriker.com/lures/lures_files/cudatubes.htm I have hear people catching stripers on sausage, but have never witnessed it.
  19. X2 PP on sale at Dick's $19.95 300 yd spool
  20. Especially top lures like a rebel popper, adding a split ring come in handy or no snap and just tie.
  21. Power pro outdated............pure non sense. I've heard all the techincal mumbo jumbo, just another way to hook fishermen. I use PP, 10-15-20#, so far this year without any breakage or line problems I have sailfish, kingfish, snook, tarpon, jacks, barracuda and dozens of bass 2 of which in the 8-10# range thru heavy vegitation, and I'm a lousy fisherman. Any braid could accomplish the same thing ( some of my fish were caught using fins braid), it isn't the line, it's the person using it.
  22. If I were overly concerned about harming a fish I wouldn't be fishing in the first place. I have had no problem with the SS hooks, when needed I up the size, I'm not fussy on brand.
  23. The sargossa is an offshore spinning reel that cost $200+, it's a nice reel. The spheros is also an offshore reel, it's decent but not all that smooth but built well and is priced around $129, I have 2 of them. The gentleman wants a reel for inshore use as well LMB, the stradic or saros are much better suited, soron stx or the soron sx would also be good choices.
  24. A senator is one of the most durable saltwater reels ever made. I don't know what's wrong with the reel and yes it should be serviced, but a fishing reel not getting wet is ridiculous, especially a saltwater reel that should be rinsed off after each outing anyway. Perhaps something was lost in translating their explanation.

It's also less than the average for some women's basketball teams. ;D http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/weeklyrpi/2010WBBattend1.html LOL Go BLUE !....average attendance over 110,000 per game, and that's with a losing record.......Where's the next Bo & Woody?
