  1. In all but a few cases your letters, emails and phone calls are handled by staff and never read by your representative, except if you are a lobbyist, it's the same on both sides of the aisle. A normal ebb and flow of mid term election, the next one will probably be the reverse of this one.
  2. Have yet to miss an election in 40+ years, If one does not vote then one should not criticize. pub?
  3. If the people are taking the fish legally they would have the same rights as any sport fisherman. If they not taking them legally then I think more than 1 complaint would be needed for investigation. Given budget cuts in most states I doubt they have the manpower to deal with a 100 acre lake and given the state of the economy may favor dinner over pleasure.
  4. All my jigs are beaten up, never touch them up, the fish don't seem to care one way or the other. I only use bucktails and my best producing jig has almost no feathers left on it, not to mention no paint on the head.
  5. Nice Jack, nothing like them ! As far as last winter kill, plenty of snook around that's why the season has been reopened on the Atlantic side. We have been catching them solid all year long, water cooling down some are heading back into the ICW and canals.
  6. No wrong way to fish a spoon, Rolo covered them well. We all have are favorites, for freshwater I like Wahoo Redfish spoon, Mepps cyclops and J-spoon. Saltwater I like a Tsunami and my favorite is a plain generic spoon for $2.50. I like to jig them all and catch most of my fish on the drop, 75% of my fishing is done with spoon. Contrary to what many believe spoons are a great night time bait, we kill the fish in the middle of the night on spoons.
  7. If my knots are holding under battlefield conditions I don't see the need to test them. I only use clinch, loop, uni and the occasional palomar, they hold perfectly for the hardest fighting of saltwater fish and in the heaviest of slop for freshwater. I can't remember the last time I lost a fish due to lack of knot strength.
  8. False. I've often wondered why so many spinning reels have deep spools with a lot of line capacity. It costs the manufacturer no more to make shallower spools. A 2500 sized reel should hold no more than about 100 yds of 8 lb mono, and less would be OK Not everyone uses a 2500 or 2000 series reel for freshwater, I use my cardinal 802 and tierra 3000 in salt nearly everyday with 15# braid, I need the capacity. My freshwater spinning reels are spooled up entirely with braid and Francho is right 15-20# max for 6-8000 spinning reels.
  9. Been doing something similar for ages, drop fly rig. I put an x-rap or facsimile on the bottom of the main leader and 1/2 way up I tie a leader and fly. give the appearance of a bait fish chasing a meal which attracts fish, many doubles caught. Works for bass as well as inshore saltwater species. I may substitute a windcheater for the x-rap and plastic fluke for the fly
  10. Boynton Beach store works well for me, not quite the selection as the WPB store but more than adequate for my basic needs.
  11. Shimano won't have this bearing in stock until Jan or Feb, anyone know where I can order one ? I think even my non mechanical abilities can replace this one.........Part # RD 10314
  12. Feel the same about my Wolverines...no longer the big 2 and little 8 Paterno stresses academics first, I think his program has been successful thru out the years.
  13. Congratulations , hope you make it 34 more.......... My guess is that she is the " moderator" in that home, that's where Goodnight Irene came from. ;D
  14. I don't know if they have a trigger or not. This is their casting line up, call South Bend to find out. RB-854 7' 1 ML 8-15 3/8-3/4 RB-855 7' 1 M 10-20 3/8-1 RB-856 7' 1 MH 10-20 3/8-1 RB-857 7' 1 H 15-30 1-2 RB-858 7' 1 XH 15-40 1-3
  15. I'll fishing the beach someplace Friday morn, not sure where Brickell is. I do have to be home by noon. Flat sea wind out of the west makes the fishing bad and it was, only 3 small bluefish. Winds picking from the north tomorrow2-3 chop, should be better fishing.
  16. People, not just islanders, smoke mullet and say they are delicious.
  17. Get real any braid will snap off if you get a back-lash. Yep, or worn line or twisted around the the tip, not uncommon to snap even a light 1/2 oz lure, that's fishing. I've used a number of different braids and for my kind of fishing brand preference is not of the highest importance to me, only 1 brand I truly did not like. True I don't use b/c gear, only spinning, but LMB are not main quarry, most of my fish are in the "other species" section and 15 or 20# braid holds those guys just fine, even fishing over exposed coral. For my bass fishing it's 10 or 15# and no real issues outside of the norm. I'll take all the PP discounted I can find, Walmart $23 for 300 yds, I love the deal.
  18. Yes tarpon eat mullet, as does a variety of other fish. People fish them either live or just using the head, I only fish artificial. Mullet are caught using a cast net, they do not hit a sabiki rig, there have been mullet pods down here reported up to a mile long and a 100 yds wide. Tarpon and snook are off a bit right now, they are non aggressive feeders and there are lots of other fish coming in now so the tarpon and snook are backed off a bit. We have been catching a lot of ladyfish ( poormans tarpon ) 5# is common and they are aeriel acrobats pulling out as much as 30 yds or more of drag, awesome fish to catch if never experienced before. Bluefish, spanish mackerel, and jacks are coming in as well. I'm not familiar with the Miami area for fishing, I live about 60 miles north, but I do know it's better than where I live. All you need are some spoons and jigs, everything else is just excess baggage. I have mostly been tossing 1/4 oz jigs no more than 10-20 feet offshore, work the jigs and spoons slow, let the waves do the work, don't burn them in.
  19. I have a tierra 3000, imo one can do much better for the money. About the only real positive is that in 3 months of using 15# braid I have never had a wind knot and the real holds a fair amount of line, I don't think I would buy another.
  20. I agree with deep, plenty of nice rods in all price ranges. If you a relative newcomer to fishing imo you just need to practice and get comfortable, the rod length should match the fishing conditions as well the style being implemented. I'm 5'5 and I toss 7'6 and 8' rods the majority of the time, I go shorter when it's very windy, gives me a bit more control.
  21. This is not a question about fishing but about how I approach life. Only to side track to make a point, I knew of people in my business that I knew were struggling to make a living. I gave them accounts to help them out, I never felt I was taking money out of my pocket, I was doing fine. Back on the point, yes I would help any angler in distress. I'm not a tourney fisherman but from what I gather most tournaments I read about have very little to deal with making a real living, the reward is more in bragging rights. A fish over helping someone out, for me it's a no brainer.
  22. One of my friends in your neck of the world http://www.darlynmarlyn.com/ charters stripers and tuna
  23. A shame that I can't PM myself.........I'm the only one that will talk to me......
  24. I've been using duolocks much of the time this year, the weight is so insignifant that it does not inhibit the lure at all. The loop in the duolock gives the same action as tying a loopknot, which has been used and recommended by just about every guide or charter captain I've been with. I use one or the other for every single freshwater or saltwater lure with only exception a worm hook, simple clinch knot is more than adequate.
