salt water applications for bass
I've been fishing freshwater for 60 years and saltwater for 30 so I've caught a fish or 2. First of all I think you are talking about inshore saltwater, beach , piers bridges, and ICW, off shore is a whole different ballgame. When I first moved to Florida I bought everything under the sun for inshore fishing......big mistake. I paid close attention to the guys fishing inshore everyday( casters, not bait fisherman)and saw what they used, so much different than the average bass angler. Many I know just carry a 5 gal bucket with about 4 or 5 lures hanging on the side with some terminal tackle inside, I carry a fanny pack and others just have 1 lure on their rod and that''s all they have with them. That being said most bass lures will work fine, but in reality all you need is a spoon, hard jerkbait, top lure and a feather, I seldom vary the weights and use the same ones all the time and I use them for bass as well......fish are fish, with the exception of some species require different presentations like live crabs or sand fleas, but for the most part the spoon catches more than all the others put together. What I wouldn't do is use a 20 or 30 dollar lure, they get mangled or bit in half. Many of us saltwater guys severed our relationship with the baitmonkey ages ago. Those lures on the website are nothing more than jigs( they look good ), we call them feathers and probably generic ones will catch as many fish

A good sturdy cheapo spinning combo
Some of the Pflueger spinning combos are pretty decent, entry level combo would be featuring a trion reel.

python season in south florida
Short hunting season and not many have been found. A longer hunting season and a bounty paid for each snake turned in may produce better results. With estimates between 5000 and 140,000 indicates much more information needs to be gathered.

TX Tourney Trails Need Change
If a non resident tournament angler purchased gas and other supplies in their home for use in a tournament in a state other than their own I don't know what tax they would be paying, unless a portion of the entry fee is taxed. I would think in a state with no state income tax that funding comes from sales tax. Winnings from a non income tax state would be free from tax, but a non resident would be liable to pay taxes to their home state if there was a state income tax. I'm unsure of what tax the governing body ( organization) would pay other than the normal sales tax in procuring goods and services for use in the tournament. Common sense and tax laws may not take the same path.

Double Fluke Rig
Most "modern" setups are variations of setups used for many years. I use a drop fly rig which is the same as a double fluke except I don't use flukes or a swivel, xrap on bottom and fly tied to a leader about 12" up. The swivel set up is very much like a trolley rig, except on the bottom is weight and off the swivel is cut or live bait. IMO what is new are the materials being used( that weren't invented 50 years ago) not the techniques.

Soron vs Tierra
Can't comment on the Daiwa as I don't own one, but I do own many cardinals. My soron/cardinal 800 series are wonderful reels, I use them in saltwater, durable excellent drag.

Cold Weather In Florida
I'm not crazy for the cooler weather, being from Michigan it really isn't that cold. Too much NW west, flat surf killing the beach bite, want a NE wind 15 -20 4' surf.

Why KVD?
Nicklaus first course was designed in 1970 and continued while on regular tour then more so once he was on the senior tour. http://www.amazon.com/Nicklaus-Design-Course-Strategy-Architecture/dp/B0002RQ1WC Tiger Woods foundation was founded in 1996 http://www.guidestar.org/pqShowGsReport.do?partner=justgivews&ein=06-1468499 True Gregg Norman clothing was founded in 1992 as he was at the top of his game then, still being a major force ( 149 of his 331 weeks as the world's #1 player were after 1994 ) while building his business empire. http://www.shark.com/sharkwatch/biography/weeks_no_1.php I'm only saying there have been some that have been able to focus both in their sport as well as outside activities and be successful.

Question about Spinning Reel...PLEASE HELP
Dodgeguy, I'm not in complete agreement with regards to size, the supreme is hard to beat in the price range. Professional fishing so so different than recreational fishing, there aim is to drag that fish in as quick as possible and getting on to the next fish, they are working not having fun. IMO recreational anglers are more into playing the fish.

Why KVD?
This statement is so ludicrous it makes my hair hurt ! I know we have many golfers on BR, ever hear of Jack Nicklaus? At the present time probably the greatest ever to play. Not only was he dominant at play but had many business enterprises, course design, apparel, clubs, charities and most important he was a family man always there for his kids. He would leave a tournament after play on Friday to see his kids play football, then fly back Saturday morning to resume play. Greg Norman, clothes, design, wine and yachts, and Tiger Woods ( before personal problems) charities and commercials. I'm sure top athletes figures in other sports can make similar claims.

Question about Spinning Reel...PLEASE HELP
I agree...........I have 3 supremes and my 35 is used for snook and tarpon, way too much reel for freshwater bass, it would be excellent for pike. For all around freshwater I'd go with the 30 on med6/12 rod, all the reel one would need.

Leno should have just retired.
My memory only congers up 3 giants of late night tv talk, the rest are relative midgets. Paar, Allen and Carson.

Double Fluke Rig
I often use a drop fly rig, has worked wonders.

bass lures for saltwater fish
I fish salt and fresh nearly everyday and I use much of the same equipment in both environments. IMO fish are fish, for example I may catch a snook on a med rod using 1/4 oz storm swim shad or xrap, still on the rod I'll stop on my way home and fish bass with it.
-
another saltwater question
I seldom rinse the rods down. If you are using a cheap rod the guides will corrode, but not on a decent rod.

When did buying gas turn into an interogation?
The United States has no official language.

The Strike, The Hook Set, or the Fight?
Always have the option of keeping my rod tip real low to avoid jumping and throwing the hook, but then the fight lacks a bit of luster. Jumping is what makes it fun.

The Strike, The Hook Set, or the Fight?
If we are talking LMB, it's none of the above.......... It's all about keeping a quality fish on the line during multiple jumps, probably when most fish are lost.

Exotic meats
Kobe beef is delicious, but sometimes ya gotta eat something leaner. Humans are made to consume fat. Cut back on the grains and simple sugars and you can start eating more delicious fatty meat and be a lot healthier. Exotic Meats I've eaten: A bunch of exotic fish bison rabbit Probably some more but I forget that kind of stuff. Bottom line: eating red meat everyday is not healthy. The topic is what have you eaten, not what is healthy and ones daily diet. Mostly anything eaten on rare occasion or in moderation will not be harmful if your cholesterol levels are within the recommended range, at my age a good portion of the population is on medication to regulate the levels, luckily I'm not...yet !

I've had bison and ostrich, I'll take kobi beef any day of the week.

A bait you hate to use
As productive as they are I do not like any plastic worm, too boring for me, I'd rather watch the Sound Of Music with Julie Andrews. All I use in Florida for bass are hard and soft jerkbaits, rebel poppers and spoons. I'll use a jig or crankbait just for a rare change of pace.

How much leader do you guys tie on your braid on spinning tackle?
10# braid and 15 for a bit more lifting power from high banked canals. 12-18 inch mono leader(20#) and using duo lock clips, haven't changed a leader in months, except for saltwater, gave up on fluro leaders years ago, saw no difference in catch rate.

How quiet is your Stradic?

What do you use spinning gear for?
Spinning.........panfish to sailfish, I have the suitable set up for my target. Use a heavier conventional just for a change of pace, trolling , drifting and relaxing.
