Casting into a swimming pool
Probably no damage at all but if you're uncomfortable just run your spool under the hose for a bit just to ease your mind.

eye guide fix/repair...need help/advice/techniques!!!.......................
Mrlite, I would take it in to good bait and tackle shop for a "second opinion", probably nothing too serious. A good shop will know exactly what's wrong and how to correct it..............if it were me, I'd just let them fix it.

Sit or stand?
Majority of my fishing is bank, surf or pier and I stand 100% of the time. I off shore fish once a week and probably sit maybe 25% of the time.

Do you reveal your good fishing lakes/spots?
Daniel I go fishing for 1 basic reason and that is to enjoy myself, the actually catching of fish is just a bonus. I do not care about personal bests, I don't have any, I don't weigh or measure them as a rule. If someone is around with a scale and I've caught a nice fish, sure I will weight it out of curiosity but it really means nothing to me. I respect anyone that is out for that PB or trophy fish but that just isn't me. Come to FLA and I'll be more than happy to take you to my "honey holes"

spinning reel, topwater line help
Just good enough to know what I'm doing and what works for me. I do not carry more than 1 rod when I'm freshwater fishing and braid (with leader) is my choice. It really isn't too difficult to feel the weight of the fish and to learn how to use ones own equipment. I just go out and catch fish, I don't need the "perfect set up".

setting the drag
I've heard both sides of the story, some "experts" say loosen others say it makes no difference. I loosen mine out of habit because I don't care to take a chance and it requires no effort. Re setting the drag for the next outing takes almost as less time as it did to loosen it, doing it by feel I know exactly where I want it.

Pflueger spinning reel spooling issues
Not that the supreme is bad but the stradic is a great reel, I have a stradic as well. I believe one can find fault with any product.

AMAZING PEOPLE ON THIS SITE
Any one remember DOS, well that was my first puter, like a 486 or something like that. I was very proficient with it too, but I have let technology pass me by to the point that I UNDERSTAND ABSOLUTLY NOTHING any more.............gives me way more time to relax and go fishing. I still haven't figured out to send a text message or even why I would want to.

Do you reveal your good fishing lakes/spots?
D4u2s0t summed it up for me quite well. I'm very generous in turning people on to a new good spot and hopefully I may get one in return, in fact it happens all the time. I've even given strangers brand new lures when to turn them on to something different. I know many on here are forum members elsewhere too and one of the ones I'm on people tell their spots right down to the blade of grass they are standing on. Didn't someone once say "you reap what you sow"

P-Line Floroclear
Floroclear works fine for what I use it for. Never a knot or strength issue. I use 20# on an Avet mxj

spinning reel, topwater line help
I only go with braid on all my spinning reels, 10# fresh 15 or 20# salt, would never consider mono anymore. A good fisherman is never quick on the trigger and only a wrist flick is required to set the hook for fish like bass. Braid is great stuff, but nothing is perfect.

Need a new rod
Wimmen don't come cheap.

KVD line and lure on braided line
Thank you, I appreciate your post and I'm sure KVD is a good product, the accolades I've read bear that out. Corosion x and salt x have been doing a fine job and my gear stays in excellent condition, but if I find failure I surely will try KVD.

Back problems??
A bad back to what ever degree is common, I have chronic discomfort as well, I never sit to fish. I stretch out real good first thing in the morning, that helps quite a bit and stretch again when I can.
-
Gator
Gators don't fight, they just pull hard like a lemon shark. 5# bass is more fun.

Promote the sport of fishing?
I agree with Fishing Rhino.....promotion is done on the business side for for their profit. If you make you living from fishing you aren't promoting it, it's your profession. When I go fishing with a friend or family member it isn't promotion it's bonding and having a good time, the fish are really secondary.

Back in the saddle
I hit the beach at 4 am...........nuttin I hit the Icw..........................nuttin i hit the inlet just before sunrise and BAMMMMMMMM, caught a dink, at least as far as tarpon go, little guy about 15#, lots of current on a full moon incoming tide.

Advantages of spinning reel
Go with what you like, my preference is spinning and one of the main reasons is I like the reel sitting under the rod, I feel it's better balanced. I also like the way I can play a fish with spinning. No question conventional reels and rods handle larger fish better, but we may differ on what we think larger is. With that said I'm a light tackle fisherman.

Alright, I'll say it...
I like watching some of those shark programs but I don't feel bad if I miss one. I am the beach daily (before sunrise mostly) and I do not wade, I stand back. A lot of bull sharks off the beaches here and I don't take a chance. I've seen them caught on bait, but I never caught or saw one swimiming. When I'm fishing off shore we see bull sharks almost every time we are out.

Gator
I've caught a few smaller ones on lures and worms before, but this one was big MOfu...........snakes do freak me out more. Back to the ocean....................lol

Reel trouble
Respool with new line and use a swivel and leader to help reduce line twist, if fails throw reel in garbage or give it to your kid for still fishing with a nightcrawler.

Sorry to report
No sh^t ! lol

Redfishing
To my knowledge there are no redfish in freshwater lakes in Broward county. No spot on tail but I understand not all reds have them.

Alright college students let start suing.
The purpose of college is to educate and to prepare one to meet the challenges of life, getting a job is up to you. The job market is like any other market, supply and demand and right now there is a ton of supply with little demand. As an econ major you should know jobs do not start recovery but are one of the last components to come back. Newsweek, Greenspan and a host of other notables have declared the recession is over or at least bottomed and we are now entering recovery which will be slow. After the recession of the early 90's, it was not uncommon to get job signing bonus

Sorry to report
Sorry report that my hot streak ended today, I was so sore from catching bonita, kingfish and inshore species that I had trouble lifting my arms with out pain. No more pain as I didn't even get a strike today after 4 hours in the ocean. Went out with my new shimano spheros 8000 and my new shimano tallus rod and was greatly disappointed...I tell it like it is.
