  1. Many of the jigs I buy have a clean eye........but for painted ones hook or pen knife does the job.
  2. Question is "How do you normally sleep"? If good then you are probably suffering from anxiety and you just get excited. I would still consult a specialist. My normal is about 4 hours of sleep, body clock gets me around the same tine every day.
  3. Agree with Central_Fl, experienced the same with fireline, don't really care for it. As far as PP, no breakoffs, except from abrasion over barnacles. 15 or 20# saltwater and 10# freshwater, I always use a leader to a swivel and and tie a plain cinch knot, 8 or 9 twists, holds like it was welded.
  4. It's legal and there are times the fishing is very good. I have the ocean 10 minutes away, I'd rather be there anyway.
  5. I'm on a golf course in Florida( wish I only paid $1000 a year HOA) and the fishing is tough because the water sprayed for weed control. Only time to fish is at the end of the day when the golfers are done, most water hazards are "in play" for the golfers so you will be escorted out. Best to have a friend or relative living on a course and fish after hours. We have many snowbirds here and the houses are not lived in during the summer, people disguised as fisherman have been known to come in and "case" the homes.
  6. I go to my local tackle shop and the small staff there are experts with lots of years of experience, from freshwater bass to offshore swordfish. Many charter captains and guides go in there. Luckily a wide variety with prices that are generally better places like Dicks or BPS. Tell them what I am looking for and what the rod is going to be used for, aesthetics are secondary, performance 1st for me. I am fussy about about butt length and we test all rods to find the bending point I want and my own reel always gets mounted, not to mention if I don't like the rod I can take it back. I will never buy a rod on line. Also with a store like that almost always there are people in there with top notch advice on locations, the hot bite and bait.
  7. Would I be safe in assuming that many of you gluttons are at least 20# overweight and having trouble seeing or touching your toes? ;D
  8. I always thought the more leverage you had the more control you had. But if that's the case why are tuna sticks 5'6 to 6' which is a short rod, so I really don't know if longer or shorter gives the best leverage.
  9. Not a real wise thing to say on line, Big Brother may be watching. Several years back after Columbine a kid from New Jerey was talking sh^t on line and the FBI was at his home within minutes, so the news article said. Loose lips sink ships, talkers are usually talkers and doers are silent. Sorry for going off topic
  10. I've used those Walmart baits, snook love them, but 1 fish and they are toast.
  11. Mepps............nothing better
  12. Very few Reds in my part of Florida, lots of fun to catch. I managed a nice snook yesterday morning, may have gone 20-25#
  13. I've caught 6" lizard fish on 10 " baits
  14. A catheter draining into a bottle strapped to their ankle, big peeers have 2 bottles.
  15. That's a beauty Don't they call them spot tail bass in Georgia?
  16. Buying a stock or other investment with the intent of selling the same day, regardless of profit or loss.
  17. Hard to call a person an idiot that has acted successfully for 5 decades, won 2 Oscars and has graduated from Yale. I'm not critical of her personal life, it's her business not mine.
  18. I have been trading stocks and funds since the early 80's and have done my share of line. In all honesty whether I made money or not I do not recommend it, it can easily lead to day trading which can be a road to bankruptcy. It's addictive just like going to the casino and I can tell you all you need to know about GA. Many years ago I went back to a full service broker, sure the commissions are high, but I found that last conversion with my broker set my mind more at ease whether to buy sell or hold or forget about it and just go fishing. That being said many brokers are just order takers and their livelihood depends on those commissions, Same can be said about financial planners selling you an annuity.......... but a good one is money well spent. In upward trends as we've been having studies have proven a chimp with a dart throwing at the wall street journal has made money. People have gone to school then actively in the business for 10-20 -30 years or more and they aren't right 100% of the time.
  19. I use 1/4 oz saltwater bucktails on spinning for bass..............they're terrific. We call em feathers
  20. I hopped on the rage toad band bandwagon. I took a pack of rage's along with a pack of horny toads switching back and forth. After 2 outings the number of strikes were about about the same. Hooksets were far better on the rage's, didn't miss a one, but were chewed up quickly, the hornys much more durable but to few hooksets. I gotta give the rage's the nod.
  21. I bought a NIB abu 704 lx off ebay for 60.00, seems to perform as well as my soron 40 or cardinal 804, I have the 802 as well but have moved it to freshwater use, I prefer more line capacity for saltwater.
  22. In total agreement with Rolo and I use nothing but spinning, except when trolling or drift fishing in the ocean. I do get sore elbows on occasion but not from tossing bass gear, only when I'm using a heavier outfit like a 25lb class rod with a 8000 spinning reel. We have some decent sized bass here in Florida and I never use anything more than a 2000 spinner and a medium rod.
  23. Nice fish...........................
  24. Pretty decent flick and I enjoyed it. I don't put a whole lot of stock into the movie critics, what matters to me is whether I liked it or not.
  25. Bought or leased my share of cars over the years, not to mention tractor/trailers for commercial use, new car last week which means 2 for the year. No different than negotiating any business deal and I like it. It's a game and I approach it that way, if I have the money and the incentive that puts me in charge, not them and I let them know it in a pleasant way. Having nearly 40 years of salesmanship under my belt doesn't hurt. They do take their time these days so when I was at Toyota last week I told the salesman while he was talking to his sales manager I was walking next door to Honda to see what they had to offer, they sped it up pretty quick.
