Crossing my fingers!
I'm gonna check it out and make sure this is it. I'm hoping for a long sentence also.

Crossing my fingers!
I just got news this morning that I passed my initial interview at the jail and I go in Thursday for a 4 hour orientation. The orientation is to solidify that this is what I want ( yes it is! ) and to make sure I don't do something like freak out when I go in there. Send a little prayer up for me if you would.

Richmond Fishing Expo
It'll be a last minute decision for me. It all depends on if I land the new job and how the schedule works for that day. Weather also influences my decision. ( I hate the snowy mountains )

When fishing a new lake
I almost always start with a Fluke. I have tons of confidence in it and I can work it somewhat fast or very slow. If not the fluke I throw a crankbait.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTION
Mine is to fully quit cursing this year. BTW, I made my first NY resolution last year to lose weight and I'm proudly 57lbs lighter than I was last year. (and still going)

Kerr Reservior in April
That's such a wide open question for Kerr. It all depends on how much rain has come down. The lake level fluctuates so much and the color can go from clear to muddy in no time. My favorite fishing on Kerr has been in April/May with the water level around 302-305.

How old is your state LMB record?
Va's state record was caught in 1985 at 16lb 4oz. Been a while for us too. Although ours is gonna be a tough one to break I think it will happen within the next 5-10 years. There are a LOT of big bass coming out of Briery Creek Lake every year and I believe it holds a record somewhere in there.

That one really surprised me! BTW, I've always thought Bama was overrated and this thread has me drooling to see them get drilled tonight.

Shhhhh!!!! I know this but it's still the best time of the year to talk smack with college football. I agree with you about Stinespring too. They easily have the talent to be a top 5 team as they've shown from time to time but it seems the offense is what ALWAYS messes things up for them. I'll still be hopeful though. 8-)

We'll be waiting! Your coming to the DEEP south, son. You sure you want try to cover Julio Jone? Beamer ball isn't going to work! We got Arena returning our punts. My only concern for next year is the quarterback position...either Greg McElroy (who broke Chase Daniels record at south carrol) or the highly touted Star Jackson. The both should be able to pass more consistently then JPW. Only time will tell. There's been lots of teams that say the same thing only to get a good whipping by schools like Tech. Remember, after the first two losses Tech was counted out and there are a lot of folks with egg on their face now that they have won the Orange Bowl. Now I just get to set back and watch my Giants win the superbowl. ;D That's a whole new thread though. lol

Nitro Boat Quality??
I bought a 99 700lx brand new and I can't tell you how many hours I put on that boat and in places and conditions I shouldn't have had it in and never had the first major issue with it. I sold it to my brother in law in Nov. 07 and we still fish off it with no problems. I took very good care of the boat and kept it very clean but it sat in the driveway under a cover and not garage kept and still held up great. Like someone else said, you can pick any boat apart with small things if you want.

who here misses fishing?
I went Monday but without any luck whatsoever. I usually get out and catch a couple while bankfishing during the winter to keep me sane. Just don't ask my wife though because she says it doesn't really help me at all.

Shenandoah Valley fish kills update
Verona is the area it's in. If you google it you'll see all the areas it covers. The place I have access to is off Rife Ford's Road near Verona.

Shenandoah Valley fish kills update
Yeah, it's definatly the larger of the two. If you can find access to the Middle river you should definatly take a trip there to fish sometime. The only access I have is through my brother in laws buddy and we take a couple wading trips each summer. I'm not kidding when I say that a 4-6 hour trip you will catch 100+ smallmouth. It's unbelievable how many are in that river. Most are small but you'll catch your fair share of 3+ pounders. My brother in law caught the biggest one last year that weighed 4lbs 5oz!

Bass Boat Bird Strike
A few years back while on plane running down lake I heard and felt the boat hit something. I stopped and checked my prop which was fine and when I looked back I noticed something in the water. I turned around to see what it was and I had apparantly hit a duck! I'm assuming it must have been underwater and came up as I went through the area. Let's just say the poor duck wasn't in very good shape.

I'm not real familiar with that area. I've never actually fished the North river or heard too much about it.

The one thing that also supports my theory of it being the turkey houses is the fact that the Maury river which runs from Goshen to Beuna Vista has very few turkey houses in the areas it runs through and there have been no problems in the Maury. Another little known river is the Middle river which originates in Verona and empties out into the South river which is basically the headwaters for the Shenandoah river. The Middle river is FULL of smallmouth and has had no problems and honestly I can't think of a single turkey house near it.

Shenandoah Valley fish kills update
It has been around for a long time but the number of turkey houses is probably 10x what it was 10 years ago. Add to that all the nutrients they feed the birds now and who knows what happens.

Honestly, I'm pretty much in the same opinion as you. I've lived here my whole life and there were never any problems with the quality of the rivers until all the turkey farms started popping up. I have nothing to back it up but when you see something as big as this and that's the only change you've noticed in the area then it's natural to associate the two.
