  1. I would argue that 50% or more of the civilian population and 100% of the illegals are receiving benefits they are not entitled to. I agree there needs to be a process. The process shouldn't take 10 years as it did in my buddies case. He doesn't have a beef with the VA medical care. None of my friends/relatives have issue with the medical. They've been very generous on that end. They pay for my buddies therapy outside the VA. Whatever is wrong with his knee is not repairable with surgery.
  2. It's a terrible process and it's sad the hoops a veteran has to jump thru. I don't know how your state does it. Once my buddy was deemed 100% disabled thru the VA in IL, his property taxes have been waived. Something else for you to look into. And I'm gonna make a shameless plug here. This is the third year I am raising money for a fishing charity on BR. This year Take A Vet Fishing is the recipient of our donations.
  3. Eric and James, If you want to be part of the drawing, please PM me

  6. Going to sweeten the pot here. A very generous ex BR member is donating to the cause. Along with @Siebert Outdoors jigs, the winner will also get these. He will throw in a mystery kicker as well.
  7. For those of you that don't scroll north of the Everything Else thread Guys and gals, it's that time of year again for my annual raffle. This years charity is Take a Vet Fishing. Please click on the BR link below and show a little love for our veterans.

  12. Its's Giving Tuesday and your turkey hangovers should be over. Let's get the ball rolling guys. We raised $1000 each of the past 2 years, lets make it 3 years in a row.

  14. Probably both
  15. It's that time of year again slonezp has teamed up with @Siebert Outdoors to raise money for a charity. This year I chose Take A Vet Fishing. https://www.takeavetfishing.org/ With all the unrest around the world and Veterans Day just a few weeks ago, I felt this would be fitting. I know many of you here are veterans. I thank you for your service. I have a heavy heart right now for the men and women currently stationed in Europe and the Middle East, and pray they make it home. 40+ soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice in recent weeks. For the men and women that do make it home from war, many need help feeling normal again in society. A good friend of mine did 3 tours in Iraq after 9/11. I've seen his PTSD improve quite a bit over the last 15 years. He still has nightmares to this day. I'm going to send a message to the charity and see if they will register here and post a little more about what they offer to our veterans. Anyway, here's the link https://gofund***35ad1b70 This will run from the time of this post until midnight December 31st. It is open to BR members only. I will pick a winner at random the first week of January and they will contact Mike Siebert. He will handle everything after. The cost of shipping the baits is the winners responsibility. Minimum donation is $5 with no maximum. I set the goal at $1000 dollars again as we have hit that number the last 2 years. The funds will be sent directly to the charity thru gofundme. That donation, no matter the dollar amount gets you 1 chance to win $50 in Siebert baits. Donating more than once does not get you more than 1 chance. After the donation is made, send me a PM with the name used to make the donation
  16. I mod a trade forum and it gets blasted with AI. The AI stuff is pretty easy to figure out.
  17. and if glenn doesn't ban me for my opinions on other posts, I'll run another auction for a charity with Siebert outdoors. If he does ban me...Cest la vie
  18. It's quite amazing how hackers get in to databases. I'm in the HVAC business and hacking into building automation systems is a popular means to steal customer data. One of the brands I rep, their engineers developed the first firewall. They claim they are unhackable as the system only has outbound communication. I have Alexa at my store. She gets quiet sometimes when she's listening.

They can't touch you being out of state. My license can be suspended for unpaid tolls. I have a credit card tied to my Ipass that automatically renews when it gets below $10. CC expired and I had to update the info. Easy enough. When I updated the info, I failed to check the automatic renewal box. I get a bill in the mail for $60 in unpaid tolls with fees added. I'm currently contesting the fees. What a PITA dealing with them.

The Chicago metro area is littered with tollways. The per mile tax has been proposed here as well. Theoretically, an EV road tax should be twice that of an average gasoline/diesel powered car as they weigh about double. Heavier vehicles cause more wear and tear on the road. The current gas tax is .45 per gallon with 1% going to the road fund. The take on the Chicago area tolls is $1.3B annually versus about $750M that the bay area in CA currently takes in. All I know is the tollways in IL have been under construction for the 1/2 century I've been alive and traffic still sucks
