  1. You have a 4 month soft water season? That sucks
  2. Suck up the emotions and get on with your life.
  3. I can relate. Long story short. I got hurt at work in 2012. 3 surgeries on my left shoulder. Still doesn't work right (or left for that matter LOL) Missed 2 years of work, gave up tournament fishing, and almost gave up the sport completely prior to my 3rd surgery. Was a point in time I couldn't spend more than 2 hours on the water before being in excruciating pain. I had to stop jig fishing prior to my 3rd surgery because I couldn't set the hook. My son would laugh at me every time I attempted it. Hook up rate was maybe 25%. Switched to moving baits. Have since spent more time multi species fishing and less time focused on bass. Currently, if I spend 8-10 hours on the water bass fishing, it takes a day or 2 to recover. If I keep my trips under 6 hours, I'm normally good the following day. If I fish more than 2 or 3 days in a row, it will take a week to recover. I learned my limits and I respect them.
  4. I don't believe that would be a good business move. The hulls are like comparing apples to oranges. I do know they are using non structural tracker parts in the Ranger aluminum line, but that's where it ends. Why would anyone pay a premium price for a Ranger if it is identical to a Nitro. Think of the big 3 automakers. At one time we had Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth, and who knows how many GM brands at any one time. Did it make sense to pay $25k for a Cadillac Cimmaron when you could buy a Chevy Cavalier for $12k? That being said, I read elsewhere that it appears Johnny might be dissolving Cabelas. If he does that, he will need to rely solely on Ranger dealers to peddle his wares and/or sell Ranger along side of Nitro. The latter seems like a better option to me.
  5. Lake Petenwell is not in the Dells. It's about an hour and a half north. I fish both the Upper and Lower Dells for smallmouth and walleye. I have never fished Petenwell. Are you sure you will be in the Dells?
  6. I have not looked at Nitro's bassboats since 2012 and almost bought one prior to purchasing my 2013 Lund. I have however looked at the Nitro multi species line within the last 12 months and I'm not impressed when comparing them to both Lund and Ranger. The difference in price vs quality is noticeable. The question I would be asking myself is will I miss that extra $20k in quality. I have contemplated buying a new boat only, opposite of you, I was thinking of downsizing. I can't get myself to do it. I'm already in the Cadillac of fishing boats, and I can't see myself in the Chevy, if that makes sense. Your Ranger is top of the line. The Nitro, while still a really good boat, isn't a Ranger.
  7. My home water is the busiest freshwater waterway per acre in the U.S. If something happens to me, it will be the direct result of an inebriated or inexperienced or distracted boater. There will be many witnesses. Unfortunately there are 1 or 2 deaths every year. When I fish Lake Michigan, I carry a ship to shore radio as well as cellphone(s). I feel safer on Lake Michigan than I do on my home water. I would rather die at the hand of mother nature than some asshat. No, I do not create a float plan.
  8. I don't think anyone makes a bad hull nowadays. Some are better than others. Have you crawled thru the Nitro to see if you like it?
  9. Cancer's a *****.
  10. Dropped a bit of coin on Memorial Day weekend for a new impeller. You know, the busiest boating weekend of the year. I had just begun my vacation an I'm fortunate my boat mechanic of 20 years likes me. I called him from the lake at 9am. Dropped the boat off at noon where he pulled a boat out of one of the bays to accommodate me. Called me 3 hours later to come pick up the boat. When I picked it up he said it's a good thing I like you. I said I know. Had I not had that type of relationship, I'd probably just be picking up my boat today.
  11. Great to see she's feeling well.
  12. You could make a merkin with that.
  13. Cool pic of one of our cats. He's big too. Weighs about 23lbs. He was last born, and the runt of the litter. His sibling is female, was first born, and about half his size.
  14. I imagine the fish in the OP's post are long since gone seeing as this thread is 8 years old
  15. The Bozo show was filmed in Chicago on WGN tv. I grew up watching it. The waiting list for tickets was 10 years. Couples would sign up for the waiting list when they got married and/or when they got pregnant in hopes they could someday take their kids to the show. Sometime in the late 70's early 80's, one of the WGN executives moved into the house directly behind us. My younger sister went to the show late 70's early 80's with tickets that were comped. Fast forward to the early to mid 90's, the guy still lived behind my parents house. My ex wife and I took our son to the show, on a weeks notice, with comped tickets. The ONLY thing I remember about the show was during the commercial breaks, the clowns would entertain the adults with jokes only they would understand. You forgot Captain Kangaroo
  16. Most local clubs require a working livewell. Everything else is subjective.
  17. Who has a better hair style?
  18. If I'm not mistaken, when you shut off one frequency or another on the dual frequency units, it really doesn't shut off the frequency, just hides it, which is why the interference still exists.
  19. When 2 units are running the same frequency and the cones cross you will get interference. You either shut one off or replace the unit with a unit that runs a different frequency.
  20. Trade in value on all boats sucks. You're better off selling it outright and then use the cash to buy the new boat.
