Your Last Boat
I've already got the 3/4 ton. I'd hate to start with boat payments while i still have truck payments. I bought the Lund after i paid off my Tundra. I bought the Super Duty after I paid off the Lund.

Your Last Boat
I already have my last boat...or maybe not. My Lund is perfect in every way for my current situation. But maybe I want to move onto bigger and better things. I'm mulling around getting out of the aluminum tank and into a fiberglass multi species boat.

How much of a cushion do you need between your fully loaded boat, trailer, people, and gear and your vehicle's max towing capacity?
Where do you live? Years ago I towed a 17ft aluminum boat with a V6 Dodge Dakota, 3500lb towing capacity. I'm guessing, but the tow weight was probably no more than 2500lbs. It was a slug. When I'd travel south thru the Appalachian mountains, going uphill, I might as well have been going in reverse. Personally, I'd never tow with anything less than a V8.

Getting old/sick
The affordable health care tax was written by insurance companies and health care providers to provide government subsidies to the insurance companies and health care providers. You were fined $1800 for not paying a tax. Lobbyist groups rather than constituents control our government officials. Until that changes, nothing will change.

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Fishing was dismal this past weekend. We caught 6 bass in 6 hours on Saturday. There was a tournament on Sunday. No limits weighed in. 25 boats weighed in a total of 15 bass.

Getting old/sick
My intention was not to take it that direction but it is a hot topic. As it goes, a good portion of the excess costs is no different than any other business. Loss is built into the selling price. If we paid, and I hate to use the word "fair" prices for our medical care, while still providing free care for the have nots, every medical facility and insurance company would not exist. I pay higher insurance rates on my truck for the same reason. Organic food costs more because of the loss from not using insecticides and fertilizers. Loss from theft is built into retail prices. So on and so forth. Theoretically, it's not political, just the cost of doing business. If there were zero loss, the costs to the end user would be reasonable.

Getting old/sick
My mother is currently going thru chemo. She has lymphoma in her heart. Once all is said and done, her medical bills will probably be upwards of $500,000. Not intentionally making this thread political, but based on that number, how in the hell can we, as a nation, afford to give free healthcare to everybody?

Check your hot foot screws
Don't know for sure but they were ripped out and when I tried to screw them in on the water, they wouldn't bite. I haven't checked them in 6 years since the hotfoot was installed. I replaced all 4 screws when I got home. The originals were 3/4", I think #12. I went to a 1" #14. Figured when all was said and done, the 3/4" screws probably only had 1/2" or less bite in them. I have an issue with the screws for the ball mount on bow graph loosing up a couple times a season. I screw them down tight, but rough water loosens them up.

Alumacraft Escape 165 - Need advice for 1st boat
Alumacraft makes a fine boat. As far as powering it, research your local dealers, who does good work, and what brand(s) they are certified to work on. As far as trolling motors on that boat, I'd go with a 24v motor and group 31 batteries. As far as graphs, I'm a Humminbird guy but Garmin has me thinking.

- Check your hot foot screws
I hit a wake pretty good today and ripped the 2 screws at the closest side of the hot foot slide bracket, right out of the floor. Made for an interesting ride back to the ramp and even more interesting trying to load it on the trailer. I probably should have checked them at least once a season to make sure they were still snug. 4 new screws and she's good as new.- New to jerkbait fishing
Can't go wrong with a Husky Jerk- Stupid thought of the day
I think that is an affliction all mechanics suffer from. When I was still in the trades, I'd have episodes where I would look for something I was sure I put down, only to realize I was holding it.- Stupid thought of the day
Hyphenated Non-hyphenated Oh, the irony- Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
The water on the southern part is stained versus relatively clear on the northern end. On the rare occasion I find bass schooling, it will be on the limited structure on the north end and around some of the islands on the south end. Shad, bluegills crawfish and during the summer, carp fry. The crawfish are more prominent in the south because there is more sand and gravel. I rarely fish channel catherine and marie in the summer, more spring and fall Petite is decent in the spring. Sometimes you can pull multiple fish from under docks on bluff and pistakee. Redhead, spring, and jerlynd are decent in the spring and unfishable in the summer. All of the channels from grass lake south are decent. Squaw creek can be decent all season. Mathews is either good or bad, no in between. The channels on the upper river are decent if you can get into them. There's a lot of shallow channels in the southern lakes so you need to pay attention. Get a push pole if you dont already have one.- Post a photo a day!
