Do you prefer to fish alone??
I fish alone. I fish with my kid. I fish with my dad. Sometimes I even fish with my kid and my dad. I rarely fish with anyone else. When I tell someone to meet me at the ramp at 5:00am, that usually means I am fishing alone. My new fishing partner will be 2 this Wednesday. So now I have a 3rd person in the rotation.

A day of firsts
My daughter just texted me, asking if we can go out again this weekend. Apparently he keeps saying "boat" and "beesh(fish)" I've ruined him for life. Poor kid....

Aluminum Boats... Best Bang For Your Buck
It's relative to the way you fish and the water you fish. You don't need a Pro V Bass if you're fishing 400 acre lakes and you certainly don't want to take a flat bottom out on the great lakes. Do you need 15 combos on the deck at one time or can you get away with 2 or 3? How much storage do you need? Fishing alone or with others? Tournaments? Answer some of these questions and then narrow down the choices.

A day of firsts
- A day of firsts
Forgive me for being a little mushy. My grandson will be 2 next week. He has been infatuated with fish for awhile now. I think since the first time he noticed my trophy wall. He has since seen fish at the Brookfield Zoo and Shed Aquarium. The weather finally cooperated and he got to spend the day on the water. We left the ramp at noon and he was sitting in mama's lap. Was a bit apprehensive at first. I took him to a spot I was bass fishing Saturday morning that was loaded with gills. Unfortunately it was now mid afternoon Sunday with the sun directly overhead. He did catch his first bluegill...with a little help from grandpa, but that was it. Mama had to use the little girls room so we took a cruise to a bar/restaurant to use the facilities and grab lunch. We left there and headed to a sand bar to do a little swimming. His nap time is 2:00 and you'd better believe it, he fell asleep in mama's arms on the way to the sand bar. We arrived, put him on the floor of the boat and we chilled for about an hour. I headed to another panfish spot I know of. Casted the Shakespere Spiderman rod rigged with a #2 eagle claw gold aberdeen hook, split shot, rocket bobber, and piece of night crawler to a dock. Found some fish. Mama woke him up saying "Fish! Fish!" He woke up quickly, completely disoriented and excited at the same time. You had to be there, it was hilarious. I showed him the bluegill and he pointed to its eyes and said "eyes". Handed hi the gill and he threw it back in the lake. He grabbed a used up senko out of one of the cup holders and hands it to me to put on the hook. Said we have to use real worms so he grabbed the worm box out of the cooler and hands it to me. I cast out the line and he wants to hold the rod. He has his arm stretched out straight and all I could think was he's going to drop it in the drink. We get another bite and get another bluegill. I hand it to him and he throws it back. Cast out again and this is a bigger fish. We reel in a 8" bass. I hand him the bass. It gives a good wiggle and he loses grip and starts flopping around on the deck. I don't think I have ever seen him laugh so hard in the 2 years he's been alive. I give him the bass and he throws it back in. Next cast is a perch. Mama tells him to kiss the perch so, he gives the perch a kiss. I hand it to him and he throws it back. The bite shut down and it was 5:00 so we decided to get off the water. On the way back to the ramp I wish I could have taken a picture of the great big smile on his face. We get to a no wake zone near the ramp and unprovoked, he says "Again". I think he's hooked for life. He probably won't remember any of this but it will be embedded in my brain until the day I die. First boat ride First fish First bluegill First bass First perch First time kissing a perch First time sleeping in the boat First time driving the boat- Can anyone recommend a quality PFD?
Cabelas tournament vest. Comfortable with both auto and manual inflate. Should be around $100- Post a photo a day!
Happy birthday- My how things change.
What memories are made of. Took my soon to be 2 year old grandson out on the boat today for his very first time. He won't remember it but today will be embedded in my brain forever.- What is your fishing vehicle ?
I got 200k out of mine before I traded her in. Bought her new. Lots of little pesky problems, plus the bed was rusting up from the bottom. Current ride is a 2017 SuperDuty gasser. First year of the SuperDuty with an aluminum body. No more rust.- Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Water temp 83* today. 15 bass in 7 hours with only four keepers. Most were on soft plastics. Got caught in a pop up storm. A large storm front passed just north of us which gave us a little drizzle. Nothing showing on the radar, then BAM. Not more than 15 minutes after the the first front skimmed us, the skies just opened up. Probably got an inch of rain in about a half hour. Fortunately we were able to pull up to a restaurant/bar dock and duck for cover in the beer garden.- Is anyone else getting tired of the Squad?
My Lund is featured twice in one of their videos for a split second. At the 7:12 and 7:22 marks . Coincidentally, this is the same kid in @Harold Scoggins first 2 pictures. From an outdoors standpoint, I don't care for them or their antics. From a capitalist standpoint, more power to them. At 20 years old I was washing cars at a dealership trying to support my newborn son and wife. These kids are making bank. While I wasn't in the money at this tournament, I did get a couple nice ones.- We only catch stupid fish
According to this article, the vulnerability of a fish being caught is an inherent trait passed down to a fishes offspring. https://theconversation.com/catch-me-if-you-can-how-anglers-are-changing-the-catchability-of-fish-117364- Wisconsin - Sturgeon Bay - Late summer to fall
I get up to Sturgeon Bay once or twice a year and have so, for the last 40 years. I'm fortunate I live only 5 hours away and have a free place to stay so I can cancel on a moments notice. Mid to late September early October would be a better option for bigger, easier to catch fish. In August, the bigger bass will be offshore. In Sept/Oct, as the water cools, they will follow the bait to shallow water flats. As far as weather, it's hit or miss. I have been there in October when it's in single digits and also when it's in the 70's - A day of firsts
