Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 28, 2014 Super User Share Posted January 28, 2014 Here in California it's not so easy to get a CCW. I hope to be able to in the near future.

Super User Teal Posted January 28, 2014 Super User Share Posted January 28, 2014 357 mag S&W air weight. Stays in the work truck. Ccw licensed Weapons are like tools, its better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I also have several compact ans subcompact semi autos, I.e. Springfield xd, and S&W m&p.. but typically I don't carry them with me. I just like the 357, it idiot proof and I'm comfortable with it. I travel a lot with work and it nice to have one.

Stlbob
thats my thought process as well.you just never know...we had slim bags around here putting tape recorders on the porch with a recording of a baby crying and when the concerned citizen opened the door to see about the kid, they stuck a gun in their ribs and robbed them.. so far they have killed anyone but its just a matter of time.Heck the news had the story and told everyone if you hear a baby crying from the porch call 911.How twisted is that crap. Goose21
Stl Bob, good to see another legally armed citizen in my neighborhood. Grew up on the east side of the river, moved away to rural Mid Mo four years ago. Like you said, there are some real winners over there. I rotate a glock 19 and a 26 depending on what I'm wearing and thr weather. Bought a glock 30s a couple weeks ago so after the usual range and reliability trial period I plan to add it into the mix as well. Without starting a war here, Ill just say I tried all sorts of different carry guns and platforms and finally concluded I'm most confident in my glocks should the shiz ever hit the fan. Why? Well ideally you would never have to pull your gun but I would hate to be in a situation where I needed it yet didn't have it. So I carry and train weekly.
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 29, 2014 Super User Share Posted January 29, 2014 Have had my LTC for over 35 years now. My Ruger SP-101, 2 1/4" bbl, in .357 Magnum is on my hip every time I leave the house and easily accessible at home. She's a bit heavy for a wheel gun, but has plenty of punch if/when the need arrises. Requires regualr range work, in order to become (and stay) proficient with it, as with all handguns. But you just cannot shoot out or loosen up this tank of a revolver. The 10' accuracy, even from the draw, will get the job done just fine. And she's guaranteed to go bang, each and every time. As far as "why" I carry goes; I carry my insurance card in my wallet every day to, so what's the difference? The insurance will get me out of trouble if something catastrophic happens. So will my revolver. Hopefully I'll die without having to use either.
Stlbob
I go the range at least twice a month many times a lot more..Before i broke my neck ( at work, had a broken 600lb garage door fall on me ,cheap no good, sob's) i shot a lot of 2 gun. I used to be a huge Glock fan,and i suppose i still am.What happen was i was shooting 2 gun with a DEA agent i know and he let me shoot his P220 Sig...I was hooked..now i have Sig and Berretta.Sold and traded my Glocks..still think they are great pistols.Just there is something about the way my Sig feels in my hand. BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 29, 2014 BassResource.com Advertiser Share Posted January 29, 2014 Ruger sr9c everywhere I go. Nicole carries a Sig 238 in her purse. Since Taylor is only 17 she's packing a ladle for now. Why? Because we can. Way to many crazies out there. I have a loaded AR at one end of the house and a Remington 1100 at the other and both my girls are deadly with either. I spend around $200 a month at the range mostly on ammo for Nicole and Taylor to make sure they are very comfortable with all our weapons. We live in a nice neighborhood but home invasions are REAL. I'm gone a lot and I just like knowing they are prepared.

msk
Glock 23 right now, will be adding a S&W M&P Shield 9 MM in the next month. G23 is a great gun. The shield if you have not handled one is going to be hit or miss with you on comfort and trigger pull. I personally do not like the Smith triggers at all but I have friends who love the Smith and hate the glock so your experience may vary.
