Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 Depends. Glock 17 everywhere I go. If I'm in the mood my twin Glock 17s or my twin Glock 19s. Sometimes a single Glock 17 with a 33rd mag shoved in it. Sometimes my Glock 17C. Occasionally my Glock 22. 99.9% of the time one of my Glock 17s. Never more than 2 at a time. If I'm in the woods. One Glock is in my pack or on my hip. Plus either a .44magnum or a .22magnum revolver. Depending on time of year, and what I'm doing in the woods on that particular day. Also. I REALLY like Glocks! Got 3 more that stay at home or travel to the range every now and again. 1 Quote
bigfishtim Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I carry this time of year a Sig P220 SAS compact IWB with extra clip...I like to carry it all the time but in summer around here concealing that gun is tough so i pocket carry a Ruger LCP in .380 again with an extra clip. i carry my .45 because its a Sig and as far as im concerned very few as good as,none better. P99, but i don't carry it around anymore, it's close-at-hand in the truck, just not on me.. Quote
Brian Needham Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Glock 19 on the hip, and a browning 9mm in the console of truck. there are many reasons to carry. 1. the world is crazy and getting crazier 2. it is the one right that can save your or others life 3. I like the 19 because of size, capacity, and ease to find mags, ammo, ect. 4. I have had employees with guns pulled on them, breakins, ect ect. the G19 is the most popular carry firearm for a reason and I have not been able to dispute that since I have owned one. 3 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted February 7, 2014 Super User Posted February 7, 2014 I don't carry everyday, but when I do it's a full size, original USGI 1943 mfg. Remington Rand 1911A1. Quote
Trek Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I carry a Sig 380 auto. I carry it every day. I take it from the house to the truck and then back to the house again at night. It depends what job I'm on during the day to weather or not it's in my back pocket. I always have it on me or in the boat when I fish. I'm also a bicyclist and always have it or a smaller 22 mag derringer on me when I ride. It's like shoes. I put them on when I go out. Quote
Duckbutter100 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 G19. I have a G22, G23, G21 and a G17. I undercut the trigger guard on my compact models and it made a heck of a difference since I have man hands. Why do I carry? Because I refuse to be a victim. I have my own range so I do a good bit of shooting. Seems like precious metals for me is lead and steel. Cause Im either buying targets, bullets or fishing weights with most of my extra $$$. Quote
BassnChris Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I carry always. Where....everywhere it is legal. Why.....because you never know when or where you will need it. If you did, you just wouldn't go there then. 1 Quote
Stlbob Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 right thats a great answer,if you KNEW you wouldnt be there.. Its for when you cant believe whats happening and you have the ability to save yourself or other innocent people. In the not to distant past i had no problem dealing with threaths if they were serious with just a pocket knife and my hands and feet....I carried still, but it would have taken a great deal more for me to feel like my life was in danger. Now i have a broken neck a shattered shoulder and a right arm that is only 40% of what it was 3 years ago..i cant afford to fight like i could at one time.Dont misunderstand all my skill is there its just now i cant afford blows to the head or landing hard on concrete. So in some ways i have become more dangerous,in the past if it had reached the same point i would have tried to deal with it without deadly force. Now i refuse to end up in a wheel chair or worse because someone had too much crystal Meth.My BAR for feeling like my or my familys life is in danger has been lowered a great deal.Always remember this and repeat as often as you need to until it is part of who you are ' It is always better to be judged by 12,than carried by 6 '....i tell myself that everytime i slid my gun into its holster. Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 how do you like your crossbreed? X2 I've had them for 3 years now. I have a horse hide one I like lots! Quote
Macrosill Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 how do you like your crossbreed? I like it a lot but there is room for improvement. I have 3 issues with it. 1. If I position the holster in my kidney area, like in the commercial, the muzzle wears a hole in my pants just above the rear pocket. I have had this happen on Levis, 5.11s and wranglers. So I have to keep it on my side, the slightest bit to the rear and it wears on the pants when sitting down. I contact Crossbreed about this and they told me then have never heard of this and asked for pictures. We exchanged some emails but in the end communications ceased and I just moved the holster to the side instead of the 4 - 5 o'clock position I preferred it in. 2. Because of the IWB design and my belt keeping the holster tight against my waist the leather that sits above the rear of the slide when holstered has curved outward and somewhat covers the rear of the slide. This does not effect drawing the weapon but it does hamper re-holstering. 3. The kydex has cracked in the upper corner right where is curves away from the leather to wrap around the gun. I have had the holster replaced once already under the lifetime warranty. The new one has cracked again and I have to contact Crossbreed again. The 1st warranty return was a pleasant experience but I do not yet know if they will replace it again. The return process required me sending in the old one and then they shipped a new one. I had to use a conventional holster in the interim. Not a big deal, just an inconvenience but I understand why. Customer service has been good in reference to the replacement. Customer service started out well in reference to the issue of the wear on my pants but then abruptly ceased. Would I recommend a Crossbreed to a friend? Yes I would but I would explain what I have told you guys here as an honest review. While at the Great American Outdoor Show last week I spoke with Joe Piazza from Viper Holsters. They have an IWB holster design that I was intrigued about. It was a full wrap around kydex holster that was secured to a leather backing. This design seems like it would eliminated the kydex cracking issue I am experiencing since it eliminated the stress between the kydex and leather. 1 Quote
Brian Needham Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 thanks that is some great info!!!! I have a IWB now, that I got off eaby..... its ok, and fits OK, after I did some trimming on the leather. what I really like about it is the kydex encloses the entire silde down to barrel tip, meaning the end of the gun does not hang out... I really like that but hard to find in other holsters. I will check out those vipers. I guess holsters really are like women, you have to go through a few until you find one you like. Quote
Duckbutter100 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I use a Desantis intruder. Its costs half of what a crossbreed does on amazon and I have had zero issues with it. Quote
jsc4324 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 These two holsters are another option http://aliengearholsters.com And Www.comptac.com I use the comptac everyday for off duty/cc . Most comfortable holster I have ever worn. I have a large box full of holsters that I tried and could t find thencomfort zone in. I have not tried the alien gear but a few guys at work use them for there off duty gun and love them. 1 Quote
BamaBassChaser Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I carry a Glock 19 every time I leave the house. My wife carries a .38 Ladysmith or a Walther P22. We carry because we place more value on the lives of our children and ourselves than some turd that probably has little regard for anyone's. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 25, 2014 Super User Posted April 25, 2014 Ruger LC9, not always on my person, but always in my truck with me. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted April 26, 2014 Super User Posted April 26, 2014 I carry a s&w model 58 in 41mag. With speed loaders. I fish alone at night feeling like bait in bear country. If I have to sit something down it will be over quickly. I'm ccw licensed. Just fishing minding my own business. I perfer the big N frame revolver. Why do I carry? Back in the late seventies a Boston night fisherman was stabbed with his own knife by some scum bags. I thought of copy cats so I got my ccw. If you put one good guy with a ccw gun in any of these senseless multiple shootings lives would of been saved. I'm not going to be a victim. I have many decades of ccw a 44mag with thousands of hours of practicing from 25 to 100 yards. You have to practice for when that split second decision that may save your or someone else's life. I pray it never happens but I'm ready. Fight crime shoot back. Let God sort them out. With your iwb holsters in hot weather have an extra holster to switch out when it gets damp from your body sweat. Wipe your gun down and silicone it up every night. If it gets tarnished which even the stainless and nickel finishes will some Simi chrome polish will clean them up. Quote
