You can use the trim on the motor to help you back in. You NEED a pfd for everyone in the boat and a throwable. Everyone in the boat NEEDS to know where these items are, if they are in a storage compartment. You can use anchor rope to tie to the throwable, just make sure you throw the correct end to the person in the water. I'd imagine getting hit in the head with an anchor might hurt. I would recommend learning how to swim. If for nothing more than jumping into the drink after fishing all day in 100* weather. No one is allowed in my boat if they can't swim. Period

I've got 2. They take some getting used to. It's technique specific and cannot be used for casting. There are adjustable centrifugal brakes and an adjustable cast control to prevent the spool from overrun. The drag is fixed. Cold turkey. I smoked 20 years 2-3 packs a day towards the end. Chewed a lot of gum for maybe a year. That was back in 1999 and haven't smoked since. I don't know how anybody can afford to smoke. A pack of smokes in Chicago cost $10-$12.

It's awful boring. My dad was a salmon fisherman and I used to spend some time on Lake Michigan trolling for salmon and trout. Unless you run thru a school, it's nothing more than a boat ride.

I agree with what indianabasshunter said. Some of the dock talk is very cliquish. It may take some time to break into the clique(s). Don't let them push you around. Worry about you beating the bass, not the competition. Never leave fish to find fish. Time on the water is more beneficial to you than anything else. When you become an elite pro, don't forget the guys on BR who gave you advice.

I don't have one. Guys who have used them say they seem to work. I've heard their customer service is very good. Personally, if I was looking to spend money I'd do it on a shallow water anchor and upgraded electronics before I'd buy a Hydrowave.

Nice hawg! I did the Wisconsin thing again this weekend. Ol' lady outfished me in size. I caught all the panfish. She got a 22" musky, a beast of a carp which was over 10lbs, and a 17" smallie which she insisted on keeping. I hope they taste as good as they fight. Crappies were all 11"-12" a couple gills and whites in the mix Saturday evening Sunday morning

It's not a bowfin. I've caught them before. Bowfin have 4 fins on their bellies, not one long fin. I looked at images of burbot and it doesn't look like that either. Looks similar to images of a freshwater eel.
