Links , To Fishing Electronics , Si ? Di ? Etc.
I have a 998 SI. That is a split screen shot. I haven't taken any SI shots. There are a number of screen views you can set up to your liking, and can look at up to 4 views on one screen at the same time. The side imaging can be set to look at one or both sides at the same time. You have the ability to adjust the distance it reads to the side as well. I don't think the fish can hear the sonar but some do. I haven't gotten skunked once this year (knock on wood) so if in fact they do hear it, it must not bother them. Do a search on youtube. You will probably be able to get all your questions answered, and raise some new ones as well. If you have a big box store near you, stop in and play around with the units.

Here's a 2d/DI pic I took The fish turned out to be smallmouth, drum, and walleye. The graininess in the pic is algae. I was fishing underwater bluffs. I could feel the depth differences with my jig. You cannot see the depth differences with the 2d but you can with the DI. If WayneP chimes in he should be able to give you more info than you'll ever need.

What Is Your Dream?
I remember reading here in a thread a long time ago someone saying "I've lost more money chasing women than women chasing money" The problem with most "hot" women is they're used to getting what they want without having to give back. My ol' lady was smokin' hot when I met her in 1996.5'2" and 96lbs and still looks great in her mid 40s. My step daughter is 24 and even more beautiful. They're both frickin nuts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7myjFBwDlIk

Children's Toys
A buddy of mine's family owned a plant nursery and had a bunch of greenhouses. We'd get a bunch of guys together and would go there in the middle of the night and play laser tag, hiding in between the rows of plants and trees, and shoot each other.

Children's Toys
Cap guns, BB guns, Bottle rocket and Roman candle fights, politically incorrect playground games, Jarts, jumping BMX bikes without wearing helmets, mini bikes and motocross, taping model rocket engines to any toy car we could find. Grabbing on car bumpers when it snowed and skiing down the street(we called it skitching) Emergency room visits were a part of life. Speaking of which, my sisters kids are a little rowdy and are on a first name basis with the emergency room staff. They notified DCFS about excessive E-room visits, and my sister and bro in law were investigated for abuse/neglect. It's just kids being kids.

Jokes - Let's Have Some Fun
Two Texans were out drinkin' and talking about their favorite sex positions. One said, "I think I enjoy the rodeo position the best." "I don't think I have ever heard of that one," said the other Texan. "What is it?" "Well.........it's where you get your wife down on all fours and you mount her from behind. Then..... you reach around and cup her breasts in your hands and whisper in her ear......... 'By Jesus, these feel just like your sister's.' Then you try and stay on for 8 seconds!"

A Little Help? I Know Nothing.
Don't be afraid of not being able to find parts. There are more than enough aftermarket items available. You will want to check the transom and floors for rot and have a qualified mechanic inspect the motor.

How Do You Fish?
Guess it depends on what the fish are biting on. I prefer flipping and swimming jigs, but will use any means necessary to justify my addiction.

The Eyes Missing On Lures?
I have lures missing half their paint that seem to work better than shiny new ones.

Pay Fishing
That looks more like a game farm with fishing as a side note. There is a bass and gill club in Plainfield IL which is for fishing and bird hunting, but membership is limited to 300 people. The only way you can get a membership is if someone is selling theirs and they go between 3k-5k plus an annual fee of a couple hundred bucks.

Pay Fishing
It's bad enough I have to pay to launch my boat. Unless you're doing some type of corporate retreat, I don't see a market. I know Glenn is familiar with a similar set up. We all can't be Bill Dance.

Copperheads
Move. All we have in IL is rat snakes, corn snakes, and garter snakes. Poisonous or not, it's still kinda freaky when you have a snake trying to hop a ride on the boat.

Don't Forget To Retie
If not to keep your bait, or catch that hawg, at least do it for the bass. My son caught a bass yesterday that he had to remove 2 additional hooks besides his own from the fishes mouth. I know many of todays youth feel metal piercing thru their lips defines their identity. I don't believe the bass have the same self esteem or attention issues. Tight lines

Fuse Change
Yes. As far as going to a CB, it's 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. You can keep a couple spare fuses in your boat. There are auto and manual reset breakers available.

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
The pike hit everything we threw. One of the bass in the pic was caught on my last Northstar swimjig in Bull Gill with a Cane Thumper trailer. A pike bit it off shortly thereafter. The other one on a jika rigged Pit Boss in Big Texan color. We also got them on wacky senkos, t-rig worms, Reaction Innovation beaver baits and spinnerbaits

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Headed north of the border to Delavan Wisconsin today. The bass bite was decent and the pike bite was crazy, although they were all in the 20-28" range. Pike were jumping out of the water grabbing baits. Most of the bass were in the 2lb range Here's a couple of the better ones.

Sentimental Gear
I have a couple old Silaflex rod 1950's era (pre browning) that were my grandfathers. They are in the original cloth sleeves with hand written serial numbers. Interchangeable handles for the blanks. I've got a handful of old wooden lures that were his as well. My 5500 C3 reels will be with me until the day I die.
