You should be able to get a prop for less than the dealer. That sounds kinda high. Second, can the old prop be repaired? Depending on the damage that should be less than $100. As far as the bilge is concerned, sounds like something is sticking. Take the pump out and clean it first before you replace it.

Agreed. My last boat which was my second boat was 17' I fished tourneys out of it for 8 years. 8 years ago it was plenty of boat. Today, not so much. As your fishing addiction grows, so will your needs. My advice to you is buy what you can afford without giving up absolute necessities. You're going to grow out of it eventualy anyway. You will however have developed years worth of experience which will benefit you when you are ready to make the "big" purchase. You also have an asset to sel or pass on to someone who will be going thru what you are now.

I'm not familiar with the Lowrance line. The transducer is mounted on the transom or trolling motor. To get a high speed reading with that or any other unit a shoot thru is your best bet. You are going to be searching for structure and fish at slower speeds. You should be just fine with what you bought.

coak, I'm one of the few guys on this board who uses Fenwck. IMO alot of rod for the money. I currently have 4 HMG's and the Eagle GT I just bought. You won't be disappointed

I'm a big fan of their HMG line and picked up an Eagle GT spinning rod the other day
