The TM batteries appear correct. Without the knowledge of how the MK2 gets the line power or the switching mechanism, that also looks correct. Another question for you. Most modern chargers are now equipped with inline fuses on at least one of the "load" leads for each battery if not both. You did not include them in your diagram. If they are not equipped, may I recommend installing them. I had a charger with a bad bank, which did not have fused leads, take out a relatively new battery.

Tie some rotted chicken around your neck and wait. You'll find some. Amazing the size they can get. I fished on Toho a couple years ago and saw a few, but they were really spooky. Was at Santee Cooper a couple years prior to that and they must be used to fishermen because we would pass within 20 feet of them sunning on the banks and most wouldn't even move. You should have 2 leads from the charger to each of the trolling motor batteries, the batteries wired in series and 2 leads from the TM to the batteries with a fuse or circuit breaker on the + lead at or near the battery. Everything else goes to the starting battery which includes the finders, livewells, bilge, radio, etc. The MK2 is a 2 bank charger and should be hooked up to the TM batteries only. The starting battery is charged off the alternator on the big motor. Your TM is not up to par because it's running off 12v. Sounds like the guy was in a hurry to get rid of the boat. Edit. Looks like the MK2 is charging the TM batteries off the alternator. I'm not sure how those leads connect to the big motor. If it was me, I'd get rid of the clutter. Buy one 3 bank plug in charger and be done with it. Plug it in after each use and freshen it up the night before you go out. I've been on the TM the better part 12 hours and have never run out of juice on a 24v system.

That 18 footer with you, a partner, gear, full livewells, full tank of gas is going to need power to get on plane and push you around the water. You could use a 5hp and a jonboat to navigate a 1000 acre lake. The size of the water is not the issue. The boats purpose is what you should be concerned with. I tourney fished a 17' with a 90hp for 9 years. When I bought the boat, I hadn't even thought of fishing tourneys. If I had, I would have purchased something different. If your going to drop 15k on a rig to fish tourneys you'll want the most bang for your buck. Another thing you should check is the organization holding the tourneys. Sometimes they have min and max horsepower requirements.

and trailers, bearing buddies or oil bath hubs are a plus. Single axle trailer is easier to maneuver by hand when your hooking it up to the hitch and a dual axle is more stable to tow. Speaking of towing, is your vehicle the right vehicle to tow with? Proper tow rating, oil cooler and trans cooler a big plus. Good brakes?

It looks like that is an 18ft boat with a max hp rating of 150. I would go no less than that on an 18', especialy if you will be fishing with a partner. Also a 24v troling motor would suit you better than a 12v. As far as sonars go, that's something else you need to consider. Can you get by with just 2d or will you want gps, side and/or down imaging? Single or dual console? The second console takes up space, but if you fish with a partner, it's a nice addition for him/her

I've been doing alot of research. Mercury recommends using Quickleen with every fill up on the Opti's to prevent carbon buildup. They also have an ethanol treatment and a fuel stabilizer. I'm going to use the Quickleen on every fill up. I bought a couple bottles of their ethanol treatment, but I'm going to see if I can find something less expensive. As far as stabilizer, I've been using Stabil forever.

Looks like there are a few different options, possibly the skimmer mount bracket with a guard being the best. Also a puck style transducer is available

You can get a trolling motor bracket and a guard, or you may need a special trolling motor transducer. What unit are you thinking of getting?
