I understand oil is a commodity, but we still import 60% of our oil. If we imported 0% and raised our exports, that would have no impact? Could it be this simple? First off, I don't claim to have any knowledge about anything. I've been thinking about this for some time now. Maybe I'm missing something, and if I am, please enlighten me. The administration claims gas prices are high because of low demand(end of my political rant, lets try to keep politics out of this). It is my opinion the demand is low because of high gas prices, over $4.00 a gallon here. For the sake of this discussion, let's say oil companies didn't have to go thru so many hoops and regulations and were allowed to drill more, either on land or our offshore territories. Competition would drive down prices world wide. Oil companies would hire americans to drill, build refineries and pipelines, operate refineries, transport oil, and the white collar workers to run "the ship" -For discussions sake, let's say by doing this fuel prices are below $2.00 a gal. People would drive more, stimulating the auto industry and all the smaller business that contribute to the manufacturing and repairs of these vehicles. People would travel more, stimulating the entire travel industry. Planes, hotels, theme parks, cruise ships, the list goes on. The boating and RV industry would be stimulated. The cost of goods would go down because the cost of shipping them would go down. Most importantly. If we could put extra money in the pockets of americans thru lower fuel prices, they will be sure to spend it, stimulating manufacturing, and construction, which also creates the white collar jobs, and so on. More people working means less relying on public assistance. Am I right? Am I wrong? Am I missing something?

In answer to your ?, Don't know. There are places in America you can't find "American" food. By that I mean alot of food is regional. I dread going to other parts of the country. I'm spoiled living in Chicago with all the different food options. Not only pizza and hot dogs that we are famous for. Italian beef was invented here and I'd bet most of you have never had one. How many people can go out on any given night for italian, greek, chinese, japanese, indian, middle eastern, polish, russian, mexican, romainian, BBQ, east coast grinders and philly cheese steaks, local seafood, non local seafood, etc? My son want's to open a Chicago style restaurant in the south. I don't think it would work. People are raised on certain foods and it's in their blood. Most people don't like change. I was raised eating italian food and I don't even like going out for italian because most of it doesn't match up.

OUCH!!! Another reason to make sure you wear sunglasses when you fish.

Guys were catching fish on "the rig" but at the weigh-in most said traps and jigs. We got ours on chrome and black traps, crawfish traps, jigs, jerkbaits, and Northstar swimjigs with paddletail trailers. I only saw smaller fish caught on "the rig" The lake fished small because of the weather. 200 boats from our club and a B.A.S.S. college tourney going on at the same time along with the high winds had the protected areas packed. Also what happened to us, is once we harvested the bass, our spots never replenished themselves. I have alot to learn about fishing a resivoir like Guntersville. Maybe next year...

Don't know about the Tacoma but I had a V6 Dodge and it towed fine on level ground but was horrible in the mountains. I have a Tundra now and it doesn't even know the boat is on the back.

First, Let me thank Brandon (zip pow) for all his help. He couldn't have been a nicer more helpful guy. Even though we wern't able to get on the big ones due to extenuating circumstances, he pointed me in the right direction. What I learned: -If the wind is blowing out of the north at 30mph, don't worry, tomorrow it will be blowing out of the south at 40mph. Don't worry about that, because the next day it will be blowing out of the north again at 30mph, and the following day...you guessed it...out of the south at 30mph. -If 50 degrees is too cold for you, don't worry, tomorrow it will be 70. If 70 is too warm for you, don't worry, the next day it will be 40. If 40 is too cold for you, don't worry, the next day will be 50, then 70, then 30...and so on. -If you don't have a good navigational map, get one. The river can go from 30ft to 6" in seconds. -When you install your trolling motor batteries, make sure the connectors are free of corrosion...or the motor won't work, and then you have to leave your son in the boat at the dock and drive to Wal mart to get a meter, sand paper and crimp connectors, from a check out girl with a name tattooed on her neck that doesn't match her name tag... Maybe she's incognito. -The hand controller for an iPilot only lasts 3 years and then when the buttons push thru, and no one has a controller within 150 miles, you need to get one overnighted.(Thanks Dawson Boat) -The lake has huge bass -The lake has huge catfish -When someone says "crappy" and "fishing" in the same sentence, they are referring to "crappie" -"Crappy" or "crappie" fishermen as they are called, don't care much for bass fishermen -Transducers and stumps don't mix. -Western Sizzilin has a great buffet. -Fishing 10 hours a day, for 6 days in a row, is not as fun as it may seem. -Fishing crankbaits for 10 hours a day, 6 days in a row, makes it even less enjoyable. What I will never understand: -The things that go on at 4:30am at truck stops in Murphysboro TN. -Why people(non fishermen) walk around the hotel in their drawers like it's Sunday morning in their living room -Why locals honk their horns at the fishermen, while they are driving over the creek brigdes.(at one point in time we were serenaded with the car horn version of "Jingle Bells") -30 or so boats fishing either side of the creek bridges with Alabama Rigs for 8-10 hours straight. If you're going to do that, stop fishing for bass and enter walleye tournaments. Long story short. Fished my clubs TOC. Had crappy(not crappie)conditions and a # of trolling motor problems. During prefish, I hooked into a 50lb +/- catfish. Lots of cookie cutter bass. Wasn't able to fish the main river due to weather conditions in my little boat on day one, Weighed in a limit, 14 and change on day one. Day 2 Fished the main river, broke the transducer off at 8:00am, and couldn't fish the river any more without electronics. Weighed in 1 fish and ended up in the top 60% out of 194 boats. Day one winning bag was 35.9lbs. Fish were caught on the river and these guys were back at the ramp at 10:30am after culling 27lbs. WOW!(I will post pics when they are posted) Didn't take many pics because all bass were between 2.5-4.5lbs. Here's a few EDIT Here's what a 35.9 bag looks like
