Wisconsinite Hello
If your shorebound, your limited to the old stone quarry in Sturgeon Bay, the park by the old bridge in Sturgeon Bay(I don't know what it's called but you can ask anyone where it's at), try Weborg Point in Penninsula State Park, and Andersons Pier in Ephraim. You might be able to pick some up at the old Baileys Harbor yacht club. In Rowleys Bay there is a place called Rowleys Bay Resort (formerly Wagon Wheel Resort). They used to rent boats, don't know if the new resort does or doesn't. You have direct access to the Mink River which is a good spawn post spawn area for bass and huge pike.

Tow Vehicle Help
Can you get maintenance records and/or a Carfax report? You can also check online if the particular year/ make of the truck has any inherent problems. (Google it) If it was maintained at regular intervals I don't see it as a big deal. Also if you can determine if the truck was used as a work/tow vehicle the majority of those 100k+ miles or a family truckster ocassionaly towing a trailer. The latter would be a better option. If it needs tires you're looking at another $800-$1000. If it's in the 5 year old range a battery is in order if it hasn't already been replaced. If a car is properly taken care of there is no reason the drivetrain shouldn't outlast the rest of the vehicle.

Wisconsinite Hello
Welcome. I have only fished Sheboygan for salmon during the fall run. I'd recommend Door County for smallies and just about any inland lake for largemouth. Are you far from the Oshkosh Chain? Haven't fished it yet but I hear it's a good fishery.

I Hate Tax Season
Selfish little boys? How do you judge success? Do you work for free? Have you ever come home after working 14 hours in 100+ degree weather only to have your neighbors run up to your work van like you're the ice cream man so you can look at their A/C for free? I guess you would just drop everything to run and help. I guess you're a better man than I. If someone wants to do work pro bono than let them do it. Because someone chooses to charge for their expertise doesn't make them any less of a person. The problem that our society expects things for free. If someone offers their services for free that is one thing. For someone to expect these services for free is wrong. BTW I get my taxes done for free. Dad and sis are CPA's

I Hate Tax Season
When people I run into ask why their air conditioner doesn't work, my response is "I can't properly diagnose it without looking at it and my rates are??? per hour" My rates change depending on the person(neighbor or aquaintence, friend of a friend, guy at the bar). If someone insists on free advice, My response is "You don't work for free, Why should I?"

Which Pair Of Boots?
I've been doing the Red Wing thing for the last few years. Prior to that it was Timberlands. Red Wing repairs mfg defects for free and has free replacement shoelaces. I can get 2 years out of a pair.

Would You Or Wouldn't You?
Throw back a 3lb male to catch a 6-7lb female while bed fishing. Was watching FLW on Okeechobie and Terry Scroggins caught a 3lbr off a bed, his first fish of day 3, and was debating on throwing it back in, thinking the female would be way too spooked to bite. He never did, or if he did I missed it. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Right?

Need Trolling Motor Advice
The idea of going from a 12v to a 24v is not about how long it will last. If that was the case, you could add another battery and be done with it. It's about having enough power to get you thru the conditions you will encounter in a day of fishing. Your boat is light according to the specs. Boat, motor, you, and gear should be under 1500lbs. I'd ask myself more about the conditions. Do you fish windy conditions alot? On my 17ft tin boat #1 speed can be too fast on glass calm water, but I sometimes have to run it at #6 or #7 when the wind is blowing 20-30. That is with a 24v 70lb thrust. I have never run the batteries to dead.

Restoring A Boat Thats Been Sitting A While
Take the motor to a pro before you attempt to start it. Have someone check the hull for any rot or weak spots. Once these are done and you know the boat is seaworthy then you can address the other stuff. If you are handy and have the time and $$$ the sky's the limit.

Fishing With Utmost Confidence.
That's my show! Never gets old. Here is a link to a script for the episode "It doesn't get any better than this" Where we are introduced to "Al Bundy Bassmaster" http://www.albundy.net/marriedaniac/ate/script/0714t.html I'm going to guess someone owns the rights to some of the content and that's why it's nowhere to be found for free on the www If you're familiar with the show the script is worth reading.

What A Shocking Work Day
Trust me. There is no disrespect to the OP(Hence the emoticon in my post). I'm well aware of the dangers of electricity. I work with 24v-480v 3 phase every day. It's kind of a "term of endearment" for guys in the trades(I'm a commercial refrigeration mechanic). If someone gets hurt, once we find out he's ok, the razzing begins. 3 years ago I wrote up some work on a panel to have done by an electrician for a customer who owned a refrigerated warehouse. My boss, who did not look at the job, insisted I do the work myself, to save the customer money. I refused. He sent another guy out who is lucky to be alive today. Screwdriver slipped. He took out the main and the transformer outside, and walked away with a story to tell the grandkids. To this day we still razz him.
